A rare find which will delight anyone interested in medieval history, this country house is a former 'commanderie', the fortified stronghold that was the home for the commander of the Knights Templar in the 12th Century.
In the grounds is evidence of further walls, towers, a presbytery, and the chapel which were all part of the original buildings. The current owners have renovated and enlarged the building to create a beautiful country home.
The house occupies a dominant position, with fabulous views over the surrounding valleys. The interior is impressive: with a grand social space in the original stronghold and a comfortable, more contemporary modern wing with living/dining room and kitchen.

Truly a stunning property (apart from the small galley kitchen which doesn't really do justice to the house). A little constructive criticism - neither the video nor website description give any information about things like reliability of electricity supply, water supply in and drainage out (I presume it's a septic tank, doubt that it's mains drainage) and I don't recall internet being mentioned - all quite important to a prospective buyer. Also the video could perhaps be a little longer with more footage of the bathrooms & kitchen from all angles, the apparently numerous outbuidings and the views from the whole circumference of the property. No offence meant at all, but I was left with numerous questions which I felt the video could have answered with a little more planning. A spectacular house though, and the price looks like it's missing a few zeros!

@@LeggettImmobilierProperty Fantastic actually. It was only really a holiday place though, and I spent most of the time deep in old chicken droppings, burning old brambles, and my parents spent their time chasing a dodgy old British estate agent who ripped us off for a few grand! He was a notorious con man who the Perigueux consulate knew all about but couldn't do a thing. Also - getting builders to actually, well build, was a challenge! All very "Peter Mayle"!

When speaking about the space, it is NOT NECESSARY to show the narrators. We appreciate it when we only hear narrator voices and all of the video’s time is spent just panning around, showing details. This video actually does a pretty good job of that. Music also good. Thank you. Lovely amazing old place.

How much was this for sale? The tile roof is prone to leak eternally so that is a costly thing to maintain. Once there is water damage, and tile roofs will eventually have water damage, the precious wood is gone and will rot away.
At the end in order to not to loose to much money the roof has to be replaced by an aluminum sheet metal one which never will rust, crack or rot away. That is the reason people have abandoned over here all tile roofs due to eternal leaking problems with water damage. The stone walls are awesome.
For how much such an bulding sells?
