Such a dark and sad song -- a woman leaving her husband 'to become a woman of today' -- perhaps she had cause to leave her husband such as in the case of wife abuse. If not, is it worth the pain to see your children cry? Does it hurt when they ask for Daddy? So many of ABBA's songs sound so sweet and sugary on the surface but do people actually ever listen to the words of the lyrics and the actual message? This 1975 minor hit haunts me to this day.

Yes it's based on a women's lib movie Björn saw in '74 called Helen, Woman Of Today about a woman doing the (then) unthinkable and going about her life single without the support of a man! Commonplace 50 years later but kind of frowned upon then, as you can hear in the slightly negative subtext of the lyrics.
