I'm 65, golfed a long time of my life, this was a very new way of presenting fixing over the top very interesting
Carolin, I’m a PGA Life Member in the Carolinas Section and I must say that I think that you are a very good instructor. You explain the symptoms & cures for common swing flaws. Your clear and simple instruction will continue to make you one of the finest instructors in our industry! Another great video, thank you.
Thanks so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it !
It all comes back to fundamentals. Well communicated Carolin. Will get to work tomorrow.
Great tip. Thanks. I'll try this in the morning out in my backyard, if this rain stops!❤
Hi Carolin no more giving tray service at the top of my backswing ever again.
I am 77 years old; and for 40 years I have enjoyed playing fun golf even though I never improved my handicap much. All during this time I never knew that an open club head is the cause of the dreaded outside over the top swing.
Fascinating!
So as long as my grip is neutral and my club head is not closed or open but squared at the top of my swing I am good to go, So then at the transitional part of my backswing/downswing as I am shifting my body to my lead side i can do what some have called an inside over the top swing using my trail arm and shoulder as opposed to the dreaded outside over the top swing using my trail shoulder and hands. Thank you! 😊🥂👍❤️
Love the tip
Great teaching
Love your energy!
Thanks so much! I like to keep it real!
Thank you for reminding us to hit 20 balls to allow our body to adjust! I have given up on this too many times just because I pulled it.
Yes that is so important! Trust the process and keep up the good work!
Thanks coach
This is great. For years I have known I swing over the top, and that the compensation to get the ball straight is to respond by opening the face. This shows me its the exact opposite. So the root cause is different. I assume there will be a few hooks along the way as the swing path adjusts to the new face angle?
Hey! Yes there will be a few pulls for sure. BUT, if you pull it you know your face is much better and no open anymore as there is no side spin so thats step one of the progress. If you see a shot that goes straight left off the face, no spin or curve you are doing the face right! Then, step two is doing that over and over again and letting your body adjust naturally and it will. Then you will hit it much straighter more consistently!
Fantastic stuff
Great post. Thank you
Really great instructions. Thank you.
I think I come over the top more when I get tired. What is it about coming over the tope that is easier?
My brain knows everything that I know, I think.
It likely knows more ... unfortunately LOLOLOL
You lost me. You said over top is the result of an open club face. No. No. No. The club face is the club face. Whether it's open, squared or closed. It doesn't affect coming over the top. Coming over the top is trying to swing with your arms. It's not using your lower body to turn. I come over the top. And my shots are dead straight...>LEFT. Why? Because my clubface is squared. If it was closed, it would be a duck hook. If it was open, it would be a pull slice. Mine goes dead straight left because my face is squared. But the path is outside in.
Let me add my experience I have had golf lessons with 4 different instructors who each told me 4 different reasons i came from over the top this shoulder position or my grip or my hips etc. THERE all WRONG I personally come over the top because my mind says thats the most accurate way to hit the ball I am trying to get that clubhead straight behind the ball as soon as I can it dont make sense to my brain to pull the club straight down and then try to rotate the club through. No matter what position any instructor put me in or no matter what they would physically change in my swing I would still come way over the top. I have just about given up on my golf swing. It sucks ☹
What happened to fixing over the top 🤷🏼♂️
