    In today's video we review Aptera's newest Gamma prototype. This auto cycle is capable of over 1,000 miles of range per day. The best part is that it can also recharge 40 miles a day with built in solar panels.

    I'd like to see cargo secure points and tie downs of some sort as loose cargo is potentially dangerous if not fatal in an accident.

    • @linuxguy1199
      @linuxguy1199 2 года назад

      Just don't get in an accident, but seriously though - Hauling cargo in that? You've gotta be kidding, that thing is meant for groceries and maybe some IKEA furniture every now and then. I'd love to see someone throw 1000lbs worth of cargo in there (or just a good sized 40" by 60" welding table), that'd be a good video for WhistlinDiesel.
      If you are even thinking of carrying cargo that's heavy enough to need tied down just go out and buy a used beat-to-shit pickup truck for hauling shit and you wouldn't be wearing out your battery in your nice new electric car (because I guarantee that's going to be a hell of a lot more expensive then a farm truck). Hell, you could even attach a trailer and haul some real cargo.

    Personally I am really happy to see the variant without the solar hood. I am really concerned aptera will attract people to vandalize it if parked outside and my only option for outside parking is quite covered anyway. I live in BC so our power is ~$0.12 USD / kwh, which makes the on vehicle solar less important. As a result I'm one of few Aptera fans with very little interest in the solar aspect. This just leaves it an affordable 2 seater sports car with good storage that can be meaningfully charged with 120V at home, very good range, AWD, and 3.5 second 0-60; this is still a ton for a sub $35k USD EV.

    • @AIAddict
      @AIAddict  2 года назад +2

      I’m still considering which solar option will be best for me as well. With how cheap electricity is for you in BC and with lack of constant sun it makes sense that you are not considering the solar option.
      For sun $35k it does make a great 2 seater sports car as well like you said with the 0-60 being only 3.5 seconds

    • @n.brucenelson5920
      @n.brucenelson5920 2 года назад +1

      My feeling is that even in BC, you get long summers and relatively clear skies, so the solar would make a great contribution for times you might wish to go camping. In addition, I suspect full solar is going to add at least what it cost to the resale value if that is ever an issue for you.

    • @garydmercer
      @garydmercer 2 года назад +1

      Fine for you. You don't live in California where electric rates are extremely high. Thankfully our sunny weather will take advantage of the solar panels. Getting 40 miles per day from the sun will be more than enough for my needs. I will rarely ever have to plug mine in.

    • @n.brucenelson5920
      @n.brucenelson5920 2 года назад +2

      It is rpm limited to 110 mph. I expect due to the motor controller clock speed. The safety design has been extensive with front and rear crumple zones, air bags, seat belts, and an F1 style passenger safety cage made with Kevlar and carbon fiber. It will be voluntarily tested by a third party to FMVSS part 200 crash testing standards and the ratings and probably video of the tests will be published once there are delta vehicles available to test. None of this is required by law, and the fact that they are doing it says a great deal to me.

    The Aptera has got to get 400 miles of range off the bat or it will fail, preferably 1,000 miles of range. It's an ergonomic design but very odd too. The Aptera looks purpose built to go far, not fast. If the range is limited, no one will buy it.

    • @AIAddict
      @AIAddict  2 года назад +4

      The first models rolling off the production line will have 41 usable kWh of capacity allowing the Aptera to travel 400 miles on a single charge.
      They plan to use a modular battery design to then include a 600 mile version before releasing the 250 and 1000 mile ranges. My Tesla Long Range is not even close to the 400 mile point so this Aptera will be huge!
      Additionally the Aptera is capable of 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds which is not slow.

    • @davidhunternyc1
      @davidhunternyc1 2 года назад

      @@AIAddict I believe Aptera must concentrate on the long range game, not 0-60 times. Tesla has the speed but not the range... yet. Aptera must offer 600 miles - 1000 miles of range ASAP if it's going to survive. I can't even imagine how much money Aptera has burned through to get to this point.
