Azurewrath is definitely my favorite. I keep one on my Zealot just for those pesky PI's, especially the undead ones - AW melts them. Hard to find though.
I never realized there is not a unique Falcata ( elite short sword ). What a shame. I can’t believe there is no unique Legend Sword either. They could have made it Excalibur or something. Djinn Slayer is a great weapon but my problem with it is it breaks in literally 3 minutes on a Zealer.
I always end up using Hellplague in Nightmare, turn it into a Rune Sword. I solo'd Hell using an uppd Headstriker Conquest Sword + Shael. Its totally viable.
Headstriker will always be my favourity, not only for the good attribute, but alos the look. A shinning white sword is just looking so cool for me. It's my go to single hand weapon per 109 version as it is the single hand weapon dealing the max damge at that time.

D2 planner puts my WW DPS at 22k+, with A2 merc's might. I think, I the DPS has room to grown, with a BTorch and more damage charms (I only have two, at the moment).
Also have a soft spot for swordguard back in 1.09 found one going through NM with my buddy and used it the rest of the game just about till i got my hands on a lightsaber
I did find that Griswold's Edge's knockback helped me score more hits on enemies in my Whirlybarb. Enemies sometimes get knocked back as I spin past them, then I hit them again.
Crainte Vomir is surprisingly good on a Werewolf Druid. Found one early Nightmare in SSF and it lasted me until A5. Main reason is the high IAS modifier which is really rare on low level weapons and that builds scales only from weapon IAS (i know the bug had changed that but Blizz hammered the fun out of it). Plaguebearer would be really good if you could add multiple sockets on it. Its actually used in PD2 cause of that as people slap 4 5/5 poison facets in it.
Dual flamebellow or frost wind are always amusing for their o skill. I also have some fun memories of trolling a friend with resist/absorb gear using 2 flame bellows, two dwarf stars, and a few other assorted things to tank and heal through a friend’s meteor sorc. Good times

So many cool unique sword options! My frenzy Barb is using doombringer and grandfather right now, feels great! Is it as strong as runeword options? Of course not... But does it still slap? Absolutely
Im glad im not the only one who likes using set/ uniques. Theres so many cool items in the game that get no love. My zealot's first great weapon back in 2005 was a Lightsaber Phase Blade, with Guardian Angel, Alma Negra Um'd, and a Stealskull casque. Great times
Yup, so many assume "best in slot" is the only way to play a game, personally I enjoy experimenting and trying out combos that look cool or even are just fun in my head, even if not "makes X run 0.3 seconds faster on average"
A little Bloodmoon history...Blood Golems used to work with thorns, leeching life back for every damage reflected. You give this to a Thorns Pally back before 1.09 he was basically immortal until the blood golem dies to some archers...then he died.
Yep... also what made low level necromancers immortal in cows. Blood golem and iron maiden was a beast combination, especially if there was a thorns paladin.
I think a number of the 2 handers are designed to be a barb offhand, and are pretty good for that purpose. Ripsaw for early ww barb is kinda nice, crainte, swordguard seem to fit this category (although swordguard's increased chance to block would suggest otherwise...). None of them are really all that good lol, although I've always wanted to use crainte.
Also, azurewrath is SICK and doesn't get enough props because of OP runewords. Amazing phys immune killer, esp since many (most?) phys immunes are undead. Souls also have very high phys res even though not immune. Huge magic damage and cold on top make it a pretty big damage dealer. Also, knockback effect from aura has a big defensive value, especially in chaos sanc & againt souls in worldstone. + skill, stats, big ias on a pb. Not the best boss killer for sure but if you're going melee pvm you will always feel secure with azurewrath.
Nice video man! Now when the buff for Arctic blast and such spells are coming in the next patch in D2R, maybe the Frost wind dual speck barb will become a thing? ;)
An eth and upped Crainte Vomir is worth a try on an A5 bash merc. Giving him some tankiness, slow and together with the flat -def and his new added battle cry quite some nice support. Especially in reducing the targets defence. Only sad thing about it, is that battle cry overwhrite curses.
I remember when i was showing the game to my friend who never ever played any diablo. Cant remember exactly, (wasnt long ago tho), but i think first "house" chest dropped a rixot. I was so amazed, and got annoyed at my friend who didnt recognize the luck!

I wish uniques were more viable than they are now. Makes me sad. After 1 or 2 months of a ladder reset (or d2r launch), it's almost pointless to MF for items anymore. Endgame - just kill everything as fast as possible for rune drops. People find tons of uniques and they just Rot on the ground
my pally got thru the game off crushing blow gloves and a crescent moon sword i made off NM forge (um rune drop, super lucky!) self found. just tons of % damage between crushing blow and static field
if you were to give the grandfather 20-40% variable ias and 10-30% variable crushing blow with 1-3 variable open sockets would make the item relevant again. like the sword version of tombreaver. alternatively to the variable ias you could put variable all res
Todesfaelle is witten wrongly, it´s -falle, not -faelle. It means "trap" in german. "Deathtrap Flame". Given the current state of Blizzard, i doubt they care about correcting this though.
Blood crescent is not really good with the life steal, I mean like in normal mode your gonna be dealing like 50 damage and you’ll get 15% of like 50 damage😂😂, Life steal early on is pretty useless. Chance of open wounds, ias, and res are kinda useful tho, but it’s damage is so low that it will last you up to something like late act 1 or very early act 2.
I don't know man that dual falcata perfect bloodletters I upgraded so some dumb damage. And since I get +8 to sword mastery on top of it already being maxes, they do great damage. The best or most amazing. No. But funny running around with what looks like a couple of butter knives on a barbarian, you bet!

First time i solo'd hell with a frenzy barb, headstriker was the weapon that got me through hell, amazing sword.

Hexfire is fantastic for Holy Fire Pally. It will really carry you up until NM Act 4.

there's a few that are 'competitive' with runewords, but yea - they do tend to get edged out.

One note - weapons with added cold dmg have slow utility. And all skills makes weapon useful for caster classes. But spart from that - great content
