On the occasion of his visit to Brussels, the Head of State will preside over the establishment of the group of Tunisia's friends in the European Parliament, which includes MPs representing various political blocs.
According to a press note sent to journalists, the revision of the European Neighbourhood Policy in 2015 helped considerably increase the EU's financial support to Tunisia to reach €300 million per year between 2017 and 2019. This support was added to funding of projects and programmes in the economy's various key sectors.
Tunisia also has access to credit lines at preferential rates both as part of macro-financial assistance and within the framework of its cooperation with European institutions (European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development), according to the same source.
On June 1, the EU announced that it had disburded €300 million in macro-financial assistance to Tunisia.
