    For best results, watch this video several times.
    1) The first time, watch the video without subtitles. Click on [cc] to turn them off. Do your best effort to hear every single word. Rewind and repeat each sentence as many times as needed. If possible, write down every word you hear.
    2) The second time, watch the video with Spanish subtitles. Click on the gear icon, choose captions and then Spanish. Pay close attention to the words you didn't hear the first time. If you wrote down a complete transcript in step 1, correct your transcript now and highlight your mistakes. Listen again to difficult sentences several times until you can hear every single word.
    3) The third time, watch the video with bilingual subtitles. Click on the gear icon, choose captions and then English (or your language). Check if you understood the meaning correctly. Write down any new words.
    4) The fourth time, watch the video again without subtitles. Rewatch many times until you can hear every single word and understand the meaning instantly without any mental translations. Repeat during several days if needed.

    WHY THIS VIDEO HELPS YOU TO LEARNING SPANISH
    * The script of this video was written using a list of the top 1,000 words in spoken Spanish. This helps you focus on the most useful words, words you'll hear all the time.
    * In today's video, the only words outside the top 1,000 are: "Actualmente", "español", "irte" and the names of the characters.
    You can download a list of the 5,000 most common words in spoken Spanish here:

    FUN FACTS
    * Misusing the word "actualmente" is one of the most common mistakes foreigners make. This is because the English word "actually" and the Spanish word "actualmente" are false friends: They're similar, but the meaning is different. In today's video, John should have said "En realidad...".
    * In some cases, an adjective can change the meaning if you swap "ser" for "estar". In today's video, John should have said "María no es mala. María es muy buena."
    * The character of Laura was inspired by Federica de P. Luche, a fictitious character in the Mexican comedy show "La familia P. Luche".

    This is a very hilarious video. I have a question about one of the lines in video "¿Qué? ¿Qué quieres decir con eso, ah?" It sounds like she is saying "'¿Qui? ¿Qui.." at the beginning to me. Is it my hearing or is that the natural way "Que" is said when someone is upset like her? By the way, I like these short videos for transcribing because they are short as well as entertaining. This is exactly what I need to help me be consistent in improving my writing and listening comprehension skills.

    • @spanishinput
      @spanishinput  6 месяцев назад +2

      Hi! I also noticed this while editing, and decided to leave it because it's so natural. And yes, my explanation would be exactly that. She pronounced /e/ almost like [i] due to emotion. Another example would be when we pronounce "no" almost as [na] to reflect incredulity.

    Leccion excelente, muchisimas gracias. Una pregunta por favor - at 3:02 se dice
    "Pero no quiero ver otra vez a María" Laura is saying she doesn't want John to see Maria again, I think? Although it could sound like Laura is saying "I dont want to see Maria again". Is it implied that John is the one not to see Maria again or am I missing something obvious?

    John needs better female friends - Laura is toxic and maria (who knows spanish and knows john is now learning Spanish just watched him sink himself without trying to help - I think maria either has a dark sense of humor or she wants John for herself - let's get a sequel to this drama!

    • @spanishinput
      @spanishinput  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for your comment, Emmanuel! I actually wrote María as just an honest friend, because in the main Spanish Input Course María is married to an Argentine man. I originally wanted her to explain John's mistakes, but it would have ruined the timing of the humor.
