    I swear by this item in the parks: one kitchen-size garbage bag. It can be used ieither to throw wet clothes/towels into, or to slip over your entire bag to defend against the elements.

      I was shopping at walmart once. Bought a bunch of groceries and household supplies, including garbage bags. Heavy rain suddenly started coming down by the time I was checking out. I stood there, among other people, waiting for the rain to let up but then I realised I have garbage bags. I took a garbage bag out and tore holes for my head and arms and headed out in the rain. Works in my book!

    Two things I always bring is a reusable water bottle (the fancy one with a filter) because the park water tastes really bad and it's super important to stay hydrated. Also my saving grace has been to go to emporium the first day of the trip and ask for a plastic shopping bag, I put the bag in my backpack and pull it out on water rides to store my backpack so it doesn't get wet or if a bathroom has no hooks for bags and I have to put it on the ground. This has saved me so many times.

      The Magic Kingdom water is NASTY. At least at the other parks you can fill up water in the casual dining area on the soda fountain. It tastes filtered and you can get ice.

    I highly recommend a few zip lock bags for phones and anything else you don't want to get wet or leak.
    -zip lock bags
    -poncho in zip lock with air pressed out for space. Also to put it back in until you can dry it
    -zip lock with band aids, blister cushion and medicine.
    -sun screen in zip lock bag in case it leaks
    -water bottle
    -battery backup/quick charger/cables in zip lock bag
    -snacks in zip lock bags

    • @js3901
      @js3901 5 лет назад +1

      @@disappointedcucumber the ziploc bags are used for 2 reasons: the first is to keep things dry on wet rides and if it rains. The second is security, as the security personnel at the parks want to know everything you're bringing in to the parks and keeping things grouped in clear bags makes it extremely easy for them to search

    The BEST thing we brought with us was a Fuel Rod! They are portable charging devices BUT when you are done charging with it, you go to the Fuel Rod kiosk in the park and drop off the empty charger and it despenses a fully charged one back to you. We bought ours on their website for $20 each and it was the best money we spent! There are kiosks in every park and our Disney All Star resort had a kiosk too! I highly recommend this! We had 4 of us with phones so it was used frequently. Now that we're home we still use them, we just charge them at home now...they're yours to keep! :)

    Excedrin and Band-aid Advanced Healing Blister Cushions. Nothing will ruin a day faster than a headache or a Blister (when you have to stay on your feet and keep walking). Most trips I haven't needed them, but when I did...life saver! And they are super compact. Hardly any space needed. Also good to carry is an empty water bottle to refill at water fountains and powdered Gatorade to ward off dehydration.

  • @DavidPeveto

    Like to keep it as light as possible in the parks. Single small to midsized backpack with a few protein bars, small bottle of sunblock, a few assorted painkillers, a number of ponchos equal to the number of people I'm traveling with, 2 small recharging bricks (i love my huge one, but sometimes you need to charge more than one thing at once and that allows 2 people to charge their devices at the same time on their persons), a refillable bottle for water, and some wetnaps or wipes for any messes. Nothing super fun or innovative but it keeps you going and lets you fit pretty much any merch and carry it with you. Admittedly I usually just go to the parks with just my wife, so I don't have to factor in filming equipment or baby stuff.

    One thing I never want to forget to take into the parks are band-aids. Seems that someone in the party is ALWAYS getting a blister on their feet, so I learned to bring bandaids in a variety of sizes and moleskin. The moleskin goes inside the shoe to cushion the hot spot that caused the blister while the band-aid protects the sore spot on the foot. That and ibuprofen. Someone ALWAYS gets a headache, probably from sensory overload. I have had headaches and blisters myself and it was nice to be able to take care of it and keep having fun!

    Tip on those ponchos: I put mine in a ziploc bag and fold it up into a square and squish all the air out! It takes up much less space and keeps them nice and tidy :D
    For just my fiance and I, we bring one small-ish Vera Bradley bag and have our magic bands, our pressed coin booklet, ponchos, 2 portable chargers, and a couple drinks. We also go all the time because we live 2 hours away so we usually have a ton of room for the small things we want to bring home.

    I've been traveling through airports since I was a kid and big yes on the power splitter. I used to bring one of those classic 3 way cross style splitters but a even better style to bring is a mini power strip that has a cord end. Sometimes the outlet is in an odd spot and a normal splitter just won't fit. Like in LAX a ton of the outlets are kinda recessed into the walls

    Add a few ziplock style bags (Store anything you need to keep dry in them), an extra pair of socks (If you end up going on wet rides, having a pair of dry, clean socks is a godsend), a pair of decent sunglasses with a case to prevent knocks from wrecking them, a small zippable notebook with a few mechanical pencils, a few coughdrops/lifesavers/hard candies, a hat (baseball cap style is easy and cheap), whatever meds you need, a water bottle, and perhaps a chemical cold pack as more of a just in case if you're there on a hotter day

    The best portable chargers for Disney(I would say) are solar powered portable chargers. That way you always know you have a charge because we all know it's sunny in Florida. They usually come with a clip that you can clip onto your backpack. Just my little tip. Sometimes, if I know I'm going to be on my phone a lot during the day and/or I'm staying for extra magic hours at one of the parks, I'll bring a regular portable charger and charge my phone with that during the day and use the solar powered one at night when the sun is down.

    My wife and I did our first Disneyland trip together (neither of us had been there since the early 2000's) last September. We brought a small backpack that we put a ziploc bag in to put our electronics in when we went on splash mountain. We brought sunscreen, a USB battery pack, a sports bottle that we refilled at water fountains....and that was about it. We had our cell phones in our pockets unless we went on water rides that we were concerned about getting wet on. Only thing I think I'll bring each day is a change of socks. Between getting wet on rides and just sweat, my feet were almost constantly wet and that resulted in blisters, so I"m thinking an extra pair of socks would reduce that. Oh and probably some mole skin for when blisters inevitably show up!

    When it comes to ponchos I’m bringing a Mack in a bag or rather a raincoat that folds away into its own pocket when you aren’t using it. It’s a bit bigger than a poncho but it’s more comfortable and I can use it or longer periods of time if need be. Plus if I loose it like your bad it’s more distinct and recognisable especially with the design on it so I’m more likely to get it back if I say leave it in the restaurant at lunchtime.

    We bring all the stuff from your video plus sandwich bags, wet wipes, first aid stuff like bandaids and ibuprofen, and a pack of toilet wipe wipes. Our back pack has a cooler pouch in the bottom of it and I will freeze and few waters and stick them in. It adds a lot of weight but it also encourages us to drink them to lighten the load while keeping us hydrated without waiting in line for a cup of water. And maybe a few bags of some sort of kind bar or chips. That's just for the first part of the day. We will go back to the room and take a break, sleep, or nap. After we hear back around 6-7 it's getting dark and cooler outside and we leave the bag behind and if it won't fit in my cargo shorts pocket then we won't bring it.

    I like your recommendations a lot, and you and I share many of the same thoughts. I also go for an original backpack design, but I opted for a hi-vis yellow with reflective bits, like construction vests are made of, because when you're leaving the park at dusk, it makes being seen in the parking lot better. As we all know, tourists are not always the most considerate of drivers. In the case of my backup battery, I made sure that my USB supported the Qualcomm QuickCharge standard, which is important because for phones that support it like my Note9, it can dump 80% of the charge into the battery in about 45 minutes. I also take a mini power strip, my Surface Go Tablet (so I have a real computer), and my Switch with my dock-dongle that plugs into the TV in the hotel room. I know you said you don't take the Switch, but even if I'm exhausted from the day, my mind is usually racing, so a few games can help me chill out and get some sleep!

    How can I figure out how much my total trip is? I really want to go but I just don't know how much money I need.

      Erykah Faulk You can go on the Disney World website! Enter your dates, hotel preference, number of park days, flights (some airlines, not all), and if you want the meal plan. It'll give you a package price. I'd bring a little more money if you want anything additional like souvenirs or extra snacks, just in case.

    I always carry gum and a toothbrush and toothpaste in my bag. If I have a few minutes I will brush my teeth after a meal. If not I'll pop some gum in to freshen my mouth for the time being.

    I bring my phone, sunglasses, sandals, gum, protein bars, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, chapstick, sunscreen, and wallet. For me, I feel much better packing more items because I feel more prepared. 😀

      gum is banned in disney parks, due to Walt not wanting gum to be stuck anywhere in the park.

    If you're going to go to the Disney Parks, get fastpass in advance. There is no reason you should be in hour long rides just for a short ride time. Even if the ride is amazing, you don't have to spend hours of your life just waiting in lines.

  • @mattbrewster8051

    Rob, you didn't mention sun-glasses(with a strao to keep them during rides, along with a case), a HAT, suntan lotion, medical items(headache and stomach pills, as well as lip balm) and some wet- wipes for dealing with sticky or messy fast-food items like ice cream.

      This video was more designed to share what I bring with me at the parks, not so much a catch-all "this is what you should bring to the parks." So I only made mention of what I personally bring with me when I'm down there.

    I got confused by the title versus the thumbnail and though Disney gave you a Fallout themed bag.

  • @MastigosAtLarge

    I grew up in South Florida, down by the Everglades, and we used to go to both Disney World and Universal literally 4-5 times a year. Now, I go just with my partner, but I learned a lot from living in Florida, and from visiting the parks with my parents. No ponchos. NO ponchos. There is no reason for it. Florida rains, it just does. It'll go away in fifteen minutes most days. Don't put on a poncho, go inside somewhere and wait it out. Especially for families, it's way too hard to manage everyone in a poncho, and then your children are wet and annoyed when it stops raining fifteen minutes later, and you now have three of four wet ponchos. What are you going to do with them? Just wait it out inside, bring a garbage bag to put around your backpack for water rides.

    • @LynxBlack
      @LynxBlack 7 лет назад +6

      Meh, Ponchos are actually pretty good since it allows you to keep moving... comes in handy in getting to places quicker when it does rain and not to mention you can beat some hefty queues cos of it

    • @MastigosAtLarge
      @MastigosAtLarge 7 лет назад

      If you have children, you have to wrangle each of them into a wet, hot piece of plastic and then lead them along safely to the queue, which is going to be ridiculous anyway because Disney's too stuck on how they started Fast Pass to come up with something better. And then it stops raining, and you tape off the hot, wet, and now internally sweaty clump of plastic (x each kid) to...what? stuff them into a garbage bag in your backpack while holding onto your kids? What if you have other things to carry, like snacks, a diaper bag, and changes of clothes (which you do, if you're a parent). It is not practical, it is inefficient, it is more to carry, and it'll put your children in a bad mood, especially if they're toddlers. But do what you like.

      Hayley M totally agree with this!
      Also, being an Oregonian with a child, we found that the rain was nothing in comparison to Oregon rain, so it wasn't a big deal. My daughter thought nothing of it and also enjoyed the sound against the trees in the park.
      The rain ended up being a favorite, due to the sound and also the cooling off effects. We didn't get very wet, either. Dried out in under an hour.

      I mean it does rain for more than 15 minutes frequently in florida. Especially in the summer.

    I Liked the video, subscribed and turned on Post Notification so I don't miss any Disney themed videos and vlogs. I started watching you once you made those Disney World Minecraft Videos! I think that's been a while now... Anyways I love your vids!
