I saw them live in Nagoya in November and they can do it on stage, they are amazing, hoping to see them again in Tokyo in March.

I've been getting more and more into Jiluka lately. I've loved Visual Kei since I started listening to it in the early 2000s and the bands that were prominent back then were mostly situated between (hard)rock and metal, all very inventive and genre blind though. So I grew up with that mix and it never surprised me as much as it does someone who grew up with genre metal. But in the past 10+ years there have been only a few Visual Kei bands that survived long enough to 'find their sound' and those that did are clearly catering to a more international audience than the 1980s-2000s bands which solely produced for the Japanese marked (of course there were bands like Loudness who actually made it overseas very early on and X Japan who basically died trying). Jiluka reminds me of those bands musically - in almost all aspects. They are a bit heavier but that mix of (half-baked) production, bombastic neo classical influence (filming in churches!), rapid tempo- and genre changes: That all screams 1990s VK and I love it. I saw some people wrote they can do this live which is absolutely true; but of course it doesn't sound like _this_ live. Visual Kei bands usually are FANTASTIC live bands but just like their clothes and make-up they want to add another layer onto their studio versions. Where you hear all kinds of influences from western bands, I hear all the influence from older VK bands. It's that same mix of western and domestic musical history that is apparent in all VK bands (I just wish they would sing more in Japanese but that's a preference I know not everyone shares).
It was very interesting to watch this with you and I like the concept so I left a sub :)
    Have a good day/evening!

Sena (guitar) and Boogie (bass) are two of the best in the game right now. Sena also teaches guitar and has appeared on Hizaki's (considered one of the best shredders in Japan) podcast and Hizaki admitted he had no idea how Sena does it.
