Thanks! Gain staging is basically the concept that you should manage all of the various gain stages (any time you can increase or decrease the gain in a signal chain--usually each effect--to get the best sounding mix and avoid clipping Check out this video for more info: ruclips.net/video/xJepTM-01VI/видео.html Transient is the initial attack of a sound (usually in reference to a sharp plucky sound, it's the initial few milliseconds
Great question! Should have mentioned that. It's going -12db to a parallel chorus for adding width and warmth; then -12 to a parallel bit crusher with a cut at 10khz. Both of those return techniques I've covered in some of my other videos (Ruby tutorial I believe, maybe the Hypnotica one on YT as well..) if you want to see em. Then the third one is sending to a guitar amp (Waves GTR) that's sidechained to the kick for some extra crunch and bite that's pumping on beat. All three are very subtle finishing touches, not necessarily core to the sound.
Man I love these. The little Alterboy trick is brilliant, thanks!
It's very "Stranger Things" feel! Beat builds incredibly well!
I was going to mention that too!
Free tips & free music? Hell yeah! ^-^
I listen to your music and just discovered that you have tutorials. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge! Thanks
Thanks for the insights, hope to see you back on Sonic Academy some time!
Pretty cool and educational!
Great video..Would you be able to explain what is gain staging and transient?
