She is a fantastic singer from South Korea. She has an out of this world voice. She is a gospel singer but sings other songs as well. You should listen to more if her music. This is not really her best.

the "begin again korea" concert series is a virtual treasure trove of fantastic performances by SoHyang and a group of young Korean singers and players . There is one where Sohyang is singing backup for the young singers. To see the joy on her face being in the background singing and dancing for the young performers was just fantastic. it showed how great a team player she is.

I actually like this cover better than the original . To me she put way more emotion into it. Just look at her facial expressions and body language. Also her voice color has alot of emotions.
to each their own. But, I disagree. not even close to better than the original. and she is not even close to being the best singer now. I think Morissette Amon is a little better. much crisp singer.

The only thing missing from this was a big epic arrangement like she does on those reality shows. She didn’t turn it into a symphony, but she still did a really amazing job with the arrangement. Sometimes a laid-back, harmonized arrangement is all you need . She still brought the fire to me!

lifetime with those many illnesses..
uterine cancer, hepatitis, chronic pneumonia, etc.. The night she sung You Raise Me Up
She just got out of Hospital and was advised Not to sing...So she did that....lol
It's really a miracle this one of the most skilled vocalist of all time could be
in such poor condition. And definitely she is much more than great technician
and has Perfect Control of Her Gift...and Her singing is so special.
So Being a Cancer survivor And still gets sick from Time to time. But is an Amazing Artist
who gave up a Kpop career to sing for the Lord and for the Love of Music instead of stardom.
She learned English as a Child from Disney Movies, which inspired her to Write two of her
Books...(both Published and there are more).
Also And Publicly thanks Mariah Carey for teaching her everything she Knows about Music ...
that is some Testament to The Power of Music

In an interview late last year, Sohyang said when she did these performances from the "Begin Again Korea" TV series in 2020, she was still only at 30% of her singing capabilities! Eight consecutive bouts of pneumonia had knocked the stuffing out of the poor woman! Later that same year, in October 2020, Sohyang turned down a contract offer from Sony Music US (the second largest music corporation in the world!) because, as she said, she did not want to become famous and lose her quality of life with her family and friends, nor court spiritual disaster with the Hollywood lifestyle.
For my money Sohyang is the best female vocalist in the world. I have never heard her better in all my 64 years on this planet. 🤷♂😮😉😎💘👌🎸

Sohyang performed this song during the initial surge of the Cov-19 pandemic and was busking with a group of musicians around South Korea. That's why you see the intimate set-up here. Sohyang also made the point that she was even more focused on making connections with her audience than giving an epic show than before (even though I don't think her singing could be anything otherwise). There is definitely some shift in her approach in 2020. Nice to see you again.
The great thing was that SoHyang joined the "Begin Again Korea" troop at the last minute only when another singer dropped out. She apparently wasn't in the best of health during these performances but did her part to blend in with the rest of the performers. By the way, check out Lee Hi. she is fabulous.

Thanks. I agree entirely. I loved this song when it came out and is my favorite Alicia song for melody and meaning. Sohyang sang well enough but is not one of my favorite performances by her.
Well I was certainly nervous when I read your post. But I feel the exact opposite. This is one of my favorite performances of hers in a long time. Certainly among her more recent ones. She really made this her own and gave chills along the way. She just has that unique touch!
@@Rosannasfriend I much prefer her other BAK performances like Flashlight, Day-day, I won't give up, my heart will go on, Misty, My favoruite things and a few other harder to find ones; but this one gets reacted to the most.
So Hyang's version is much better than the original. Alicia doesn't do it for me in the emoting aspect. I didn't feel anything listening to Alicia's but with So Hyang you can feel and see in her body language and expressions. Alicia just sits on the piano and plays without hardly any expressions or body movements. Also So Hyang is a gospel singer so you will feel the presence of God in every performance of hers because she is a minister of God through music.

I just wished she hadn't sung it so high I guess? Not sure, but I would put it near the end of her BAK performances for my own personal tastes. I also don't care for Dream which I know is many peoples favourites.
Her, Dimash, and Angelina are just on their own tippity top tier. So special. Same with me..not one of my favs by her, but that doesn't mean it isnt still GORGEOUS lol
