  • Teach your dog to heel competition style takes a little more work than just getting your dog to do a loose leash walk. In this video lesson I give you some tips to get that fancy AKC IPO Obedience style heel. There are a couple of tools that may help you achieve an even better result and I address one of them in this video.

    A small non related question. In a lot of positive only circles I read the opinion that there are no dominant dogs. Just dominant behaviour. What is your opinion on that?

    • @nicksantosTV
      @nicksantosTV 3 года назад

      dogs are pack animals, from what I understand theirs always a leader and the rest follow. I could be wrong.

    • @treatsandleashes1284
      @treatsandleashes1284 3 года назад

      That's correct. The dominance theory has been disproven for quite some time, including from the guy that it originated from.
      In packs, dogs can take on different roles at different times, even sometimes based on their moods.

    • @vissert2841
      @vissert2841 3 года назад

      @@treatsandleashes1284 Interesting! But I guess you can still speak from dominant breeds? Breeds that tend to have more dominant behaviour then other breeds?

    • @treatsandleashes1284
      @treatsandleashes1284 3 года назад

      @@vissert2841 There are more assertive breeds and personalities just as there are more timid, fearful, aggressive, or any other trait - just like there are people. It's not about "dominating" anything...
