  • Welcome to Arnzen Arms 50 Round Reviews. The 2019 announced and 2023 released Dan Wesson DWX Compact
At first glance, you'll notice the balance between the 1911 and CZ-style platforms which provides a comfortable and familiar feel in your hand.
Crafted with precision and attention to detail, the DWX Compact features a match-grade barrel for exceptional accuracy, ensuring tight groupings shot after shot.
Its compact frame and snag-free design make it an ideal choice for everyday carry, fitting seamlessly into your preferred holster and attire. The big question is where is the red dot capability and the rail?
At $1999 MSRP this CZ/1911 hybrid is an awesome pistol but it’s hard to ignore the missing elements that we could have lived without in 2019 but not in 2023.

The ORACLE ARMS 2311's are going to come in full force. (2024) Jan. Feb. Mar. Apr. The DW DWX Compact is silky smooth, high capacity, reliable, and true high quality. It is perfect for my carry needs. Lights, Red Dots for larger frame handguns. To each his own. It is a beautiful firearm like a piece of fine jewelry.

We said it was a great gun. The lack of rail and red dot is a miss.

I’m seriously disappointed Dan Wesson has missed the whole optics ready and rail options upon the initial release of this pistol. The DWX had so much anticipation & hype behind it when they were marketing his pistol in 2020. I remember the initial model they had been showing everyone was the full size which had a rail if I remember correctly. They also were promoting prototype photos of the compact model as well though everyone was assuming the compact would definitely have an optics cut & rail options, since direct competitors of the DWX such as the Staccato line, other double stack 1911 models & various 1911 hybrids all seem to be railed & offer an optics ready version in every size possible. Then out of the blue for some brilliant reason it was put on an indefinite hold by Dan Wesson, literally killing the hype train in its infancy stages. Then again for whatever brilliant reason in 2023 the full size DWX (in a very nonchalant way) was released as a 5” w/ rail but no optics cut option, which I feel was a huge mistake. Then they release the compact model several months later (-) the rail 😳or optic cut which made no sense whatsoever since the compact model would have been the perfect ccw then to boot all its competitors offering rails & optics ready on every one of their models.
It makes no logical sense for these particular models at their price points to be missing these key options that everyone looks for. Especially in todays taste in shooters & concealed carry operators with the popularity of red dot’s & weapon lights it makes no sense to me…
It’s a real bummer that soon after the DWX release, CZ (seemingly concurrently) puts out the Shadow 2 compact (which tho CZ owns DW the shadow 2 compact is a direct competitor to the DWX compact if you were to put the two side by side) with exactly the two things that were missing on the DWX compact. Really! Not sure what DW is thinking lately.. th

I bought one a few weeks ago and fired @150 rounds before the front sight flew off. Sent it back to CZ for repairs. Add in the lack of holsters, and that other compact 15 round mags (P-01) don’t work in it due to not having the thin base pads, and I’m regretting my purchase.

Thanks for sharing this. I’m going to hold off and probably go with a Stacatto

With a little luck they will make some changes and enroll the marketplace in supporting the platform. I am not holding my breath. The rise of the 2011s is going to leave this one in the dust.

This is not a race gun that sits in your safe. This is a compact edc gun. I can live without an optic or a rail for this weapons purpose.

I can't believe anyone would release a carry weapon without an optic plate in 2023/4...

likely didn't rail/ optic yet due to Shadow 2 Compact launch.. lame. not the same market but they play feature set release games anyway.
