- In this TouchDesigner tutorial we route audio from a media player (Spotify, RUclips, iTunes etc.) into TouchDesigner using the freeware VBCable. We also create a custom component so you can reuse this in the future and we create a simple visualisation to get you started.
You can also use the Stereo Mix on Windows if that's available for you.
This technique should work on both Windows and Mac.

Has anyone had issues getting this to work? I can see in my sound settings my master volume is showing audio is being received but I am not able to get any audio in my chop.
that moment when you change the input to cable and the output to cable and you don't hear the tutorial no more:))

oh hell yeah.. these tutorials are making me wonder why the hell I've been working in After Effects for so many years.
Another alternative would be free vMix desktop capture with audio set to loop back ty for all the helpful videos.
Thanks, this works way smoother than how I was doing it before! Also, how did you change the color of your channels? Like if I don't want them to be yellow and red?

It's a standalone software called carnac :)
I haven't watched this video, just read the description. So I don't know if you've mentioned. I am on a Mac and am using Blackhole to do this.

Hey there. u can also activate 'stereo mix' in your windows 10 audio settings. As input device you can select 'stereo mix', so any of your system sound is routed to td without the need of vb-cable.
I talk about that at the end of the video. This does not work with my sound card however and apparently doesn't work for quite a few people so I thought I'd make a tutorial with a technique that works for sure :)

How can I connect audio from another software via OSC?
For some reason on the last section I'm getting a warning label on my "Chop to". Any idea what could cause it? Followed your instructions but not sure what's going on
Change Image Layout to either Row(s) per Channel Set (Wrapped), or Fit to Square (Combine Sets).

@@ri9z. Even after resolving this warning, my CHOPto isn't generating any output. Did you run into a similar issue?

@@luctang4916 Not sure if you saw my reply. Probably got removed due to the screenshot link lol. My CHOPto looked like it wasn't working, but linking nodes to it worked.
On the custom component section it's not letting me drag and drop the volume to the Controls page. Any idea on how to fix that?
was able to right click and copy and paste but no options of how to "Set reference expression" came up (through right clicking or left clicking). Know any ways to do that if it doesn't pop up?
and for some reason when I click try to copy and paste the multiply on the math it shows up as "Volume2". Not sure what what's happening... Anyone else get this too? or have any fixes for it?
Nevermind I guess you have to drag it to the word "Parameter" and it works fine!

I'm using a Mac and it is actually impossible to change the device in format to stereo. Does anyone know why?

It's greyed out for me. I figured it was a limitation of the non-commercial version.
Sorry, but I can't believe no one mentioned this. It works but only with the speakers on your computers. If you connect the laptop to some other speakres, it doesn't work anymore. You get the audio output only from you laptop speakers or you get the audio from the good speakers, but then you don't see sound anymore in ToucDesigner
My laptop just crashed converting to chop

@@elekktronaut yes i added the audio device out as you showed. The visuals work fine but I can't hear anything because the audio device out is turned into VB audio instead of my speakers.
