REPLACING coil packs on a 2002 toyota camry vvt4 (EASY job)

If you’re looking to change the coil packs in your Toyota Camry, you’re in luck, they are really easy to access and change on this car. Other car manufacturers make it a bit more of a challenge but there is one bolt that you take off and you barely even have to pull to get them to disengage.

all 4 plug connectors broke when depressing them 😡!!! Because my wife is on the road for a week and the replacements plugs won't be here till tomorrow. I had to think fast. I had some stainless welding wire (I LOVE that stuff for repairs) and devised a hook to hold onto the plug and then backed the coil bolts off and circled the bolt and cut the wire. and snugged the bolts back down on the wire. Worked like a charm.😇! Love these Camrys. This is my second one. If you get one with less than 100K and less than $6K you are WAY ahead of the game.

I bought no name coil packs 6 for $70 Amazon and the thing failed and misfires after 6000 miles so now I’m putting back the old OEM ones and returning them. Lesson learned

2.4 only has 4

2002 camry's have a 4 and a 6 cylinder model. I would check your engine size to see which it is.

Do you have to disconnect the battery’s before changing the coils?

It’s probably not a bad idea to disconnect the negative terminal, I’ve never had a problem hooking them up with the battery connected though.
