Hey Tom! Just wanted to clarify that in From Sand to Sea you can no longer move as you could in Eastern Wonders. While you have free movement in the standalone game, you have to discard cards in order to move around the tiles in the combination game. That creates a neat amount of integration between the two games that really makes From Sand to Sea feel cohesive as opposed to just two separate mechanisms to do the same thing. Nonetheless, I agree with regards to Spice Road vs. Eastern Wonders; I liked them both a lot but Spice Road was definitely more gateway and this feels like a step up in complexity while still maintaining the same idea as the first. I did really enjoy the jump in player interaction in Eastern Wonders which I felt Spice Road needed. Great video!
5:20 That would be ridiculous. Actually, as Tom himself said in the SR/EW comparison video, it lets you upgrade a cube whenever you place a trading post, and is worth 2 VP.
most times I have won I have gone for the harvest upgrade first whilst other players have gone for movement upgrade so I wouldn't agree that movement should always be your first choice, depends on the arrangement of the tiles. Really enjoying the game, agree Spice Road is better but I'm enjoying this more and more.
I chose to 1st get the red harvest upgrade bc it fit in to the goal tiles I was going for. Perhaps that wasn’t the most efficient, but I did win my 1st game.
So in the first one, it's turmeric, saffron, cardamom and cinnamon. Now, it's turmeric, chilis, tea and coffee? It's like one and a half millenia jump there. But still a nice touch.
played the game for the first time yesterday. everything is lovely but i hated the end game condition of whoever gets the fourth port thingy wins. I think it is a bad design choice but I`m going to play a few more matches before a final judgement.
what is the deal with them selling the maps separate? That / really / sucks seems like another nice, yet slightly modified mechanic, from the old century games. But I guess this one has kind of dull cubes, so should I wait until they come with the blinged out version? Errggh, feel like I’m kinda being played, not a great feeling }-: But wow, you can combine this with century spice road? Pretty clever,,, although in a way I was expecting this game to have some cards too, so are you only getting half a game when you buy century eastern wonders? Again, a bit shady … too bad b/c the game looks nice. Great job comparing the games and expressing that this game has less luck / more visible information.

im just hoping they make a golem version of this one too
silver mandus looks like your wish came true! 😉
Can't wait for this game. I loved Spice Road and Eastern Wonders looks neat!!! That playmat is gorgeous.
9:30 Those are spices from Spice road, Tom!
The ghost of Terry Pratchett approves this hat
Dan King also prefers Century Spice Road. It looks like I'll be getting Reef over Easter Wonders for now.
i wish the colors were different, love the original game, but the colors are not color blind friendly
the curve in the tiles keeps the board from coming apart easy
Yeah, but the base game doesn't come with the mat and you can still bump tiles around by accident.
Do you need to move to a market tile in order for you to exchange those cubes?
Golem edition would be cool to see.

Not sure all 3 games will fit in 1 box
Is the combined a max of 5 players or 4?
I wish Eastern Wonderss was max of 5 as Spice Road/Golem is.
It would be great to have a KS edition with nicer resources and all playmats etc...
Is the moving bonus tiles unbalanced when you say it is the first target?
Dat hat! Also, good review Tom. thank!

Where can I get that hat?
asking for a friend, very important
Mum always told me “if you can't say something nice about someone's stupid turtle hat then don't say anything at all”. So I'll just stay quiet. 😁

what is your final judgement?
The player with the most Victory Points wins.
It's not all about the VP tiles.
Both games in one box?!

Tom you sound really out of breath my friend. Hope all is well my man.
Hammer at the shop? 😉
The mat is the price of the game. That’s insane to me. It should be included
Sticking to Century Spice Road only. Too much here. Simple is the best for the Century series.
cant wait to pway
Meh will wait for golem
Golems are still a way better theme. Spices are boring.
