I've done this as well. Especially for subs that take multiple torpedo hits to kill. The first hit causes them to emergency blow and surface. Then while they're up there, send a harpoon to finish them off. It isn't clear to me that the 2nd Han actually suffered flooding from the collision. It appeared to have an upward angle when it broke loose from the seafloor. That suggests if it would have been flooding at the stern, rather than the bow.
It wouldn't surprise me if that Han was on the surface due to reactor issues; from what I've heard of that class, it had a notoriously.... difficult reactor suite
while you can do that in this one there are a couple of major problems with it. 1. there is no way to just opt out of a battle, if you are intercepted you must fight, and you then have to evade on the battle map. With a boat capable of only 20 knots and the far more advanced modern AI hunting you even with time acceleration it can take between twenty minutes to an hour real rime to evade one engagement. 2. Even if you successfully evade the patrol doesn’t disappear from the overview map and can absolutely re engage you instantly forcing you to have to do the whole evade on the battle map all over again taking another twenty minutes to an hour even with time acceleration. 3. When you have more than one patrol on you (at the start of this video there was three visible, there are actually five total) they can swap in and out on the world map until you kill them or waste a full day real time evading over and over and over and over again until the AI desides largely by RNG to not move any of the five fleets directly at you. 4. Each time you are intercepted and taken to the battle map time advances forward a small amount, should this happen enough times even if you evade every encounter, you'll lose the overall mission as time will advance to the point where the enemy will complete its objective. 5. Each time you are engaged even if you are not detected it increases the chance that additional patrols will be moved into the area to also engage you, so if you don’t sink and spend hours evading and evading and evading repeatedly chances are you'll find additional patrols added to the pool you also have to evade resulting in even more interceptions. or you can just sink them and move on to target.
Aww I wanted to see the missile attack. I thought that might happen if you fired torpedoes first. I have tried it and I couldn't get it to work. Mine was a damaged Typhoon that emergency blew and just got its nose and part of the sail above water, might not have been enough for a missile lock.
Definitely agree that the AI's pathing around islands is quite disappointing. It was something that always bugged me about Cold Waters as well. Icebergs are just as bad if not worse.
Magz has at this point sunk most of the PLAN that even existed in 1999, at least from what i've been able to find. In a previous video, I made a list of types and realistically how many were made.
14:28 You can actually sink subs with anti-ship missiles. In my experience it tends to happen most with larger subs like SSBNs or Oscars that have taken a torpedo and are flooding, but arnt dead. They'll occasionally surface to try and fix flooding and if your quick you can launch a missile at them before they dive and it'll act like any other surface ship, except without point defense weapons
I wonder what this game would be like if it had a multiplayer whether it’s pvp or co-op idk pvp would be interesting but implementing it would be hard because of balancing reasons maybe
Not surprised the Chinese Navy did not recognize the island. It is Chinese doctrine to not recognize certain inconvenient islands.
12:29 "You see Comrade: enemy will be expecting sub, so we'll float on surface"
I know RADAR can penetrate land, didn’t know SONAR could the Luda pinged you through the island, LoL
12:45 If a sub is on the surface, you can use a Harpoon to sink it, I've done it myself a few times when the opportunity presents itself.

The crew of the second Han all throughout that engagement: “You arrogant ass,”
The Han most probably having a banyan (steel deck bbq)
The curse of Babuyan Island is real! (That's the island's name btw) Tune in next time for more tales of the unexplained in: 'The Magnetic Island'
In the old Amiga version, I used to evade and not fire when i got low on torps and still had a primary target to find.

Wow Luda sonar can go though Islands .... who knew !
Hilarious. So wish you'd got a Harpoon off!
Thanks for a chill start to Monday. Have a great week!
Almost like the Novembers torpedoing themselves a few years ago.

Han on the surface - obvious answer, the Chinese navy is running out of surface vessels, orders their submarine force to fill in that role KEKW
Its always nice to watch these videos. Thank you for them.
That at the beginning was A LOT, and I say again, A LOT of enemy vessels 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I wonder irl what the Chinese captain would faced running the submarine onto the shore.
Wet feet 😂

Damn. I was hoping to see that Han sunk with a missile. Instead we got a Chinese sub with friction burns. That's alright too I guess. xD
@ 14.02 The Han is smart enough to not turn into a Whisky on the Rocks? 😇 Ref: The Soviet Whisky class submarine that ran a ground in Sweden in 1981.
Han-class wasn't being counted. You've sunk 9 out of the 5 built

That was very interesting!! They should have said all ashore that is going ashore!! LOL
Submarine 404 - Landmass not found
I see the chinese have learned special russian tactics.

It's strange that they added islands into the game, but didn't make an AI that can handle them. Better to just not include islands.
How can British sonar get a return through an island!?
Great work.
Great video loved it. how are you doing/.
This video says "you don´t want to play Cold Waters"
Mags just checking on you. Are you good mate ?
Lol, weird!
