Thank you for all of the information. I just bought a used scan n cut cm350 and am trying to learn how to use it. My machine is very noisy and I thought it was broke but yours is as noisy as mine so I am happy, not that it is noisy but that my machine is not broke. I have a maker too and the machines are so different but they both have a purpose. Thank you soooooooooo much.
You are SOOOO good at explaining things. Just got my machine and can't wait to use it :). Hearing you tell us why the machine works the way it works will help me remember things for sure. Thanks so much Maymay!!!
Hi... just got back into stamping!! I really thank you for your information of this product. I do want to say that the Scan n cut canvas software is very easy to use. Especially with the cloud.. It downloads right to the machine. You do not need to convert anything if you do not want to. You can also upload your own images to it and it will help you create the SVG files.
You are my kind of gal...I bought the SNC for the same reason you did!! I HATE FUSSY CUTTING, It often stops me from going ahead with cards or art journals as the thought of having to *fussy cut* turns me off! I actually bought the criticut first but never took it out of the box!! I am techno-challenged and I was not sure I could ever learn how to use it. I donated it to a local craft shop!! BUT when I started learning about the SNC I decided to take a chance but I was afraid to tell any of my friends about my purpose of getting it.Just like you, only planning to use it just for cutting.I knew they would think I was *nuts*. And lo and behold I came across your you tube and I knew I found a *kindred spirit* because it seems as you have gotten it for the same reason I did!! I guess I am not the only one out there that thinks the way I do. I also loved the way to kept your mat sticky and I went right online and bought that zig glue. Thanks a million for this video!! LS
As usual !!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! I have always wanted to know how this machine works and you have done a great job showing us how to use it. It is different from the Cricut. If I had a bigger craft room (mine is like a phone booth), I would add this to my crafting tools. You and Vinnie are the best !
I bought my scan and cut 2 and then life happened and I have yet to break out with it and use it. I saved this video many moons ago and again got stoked up to use this machine based on your video. I intend to use it today to cut out some snowflakes (which heaven knows I do not possess the patience to fussy cut). Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you KIm for the info. I was also looking at the CM-650 model and before purchasing this wanted to make sure I could use my embroidery machine with it. My son does custom orders and I want to incorporate other designs that I don’t have with my machine so this is going to spark the old imagination!!
New subscriber. My friend lent me her Scan n Cut w the Disney files. Neither of us have any idea what to do, lol. She is a paper crafter & loves her Cricut. I want it to cut fabric pattern pieces. Thank you do much for explaining what the "buttons" are. There is no instruction book. I will look to see if you have any more Scan n cut videos. Stay well. Thanks again.
I bought a SNC just for the cutting of stamped designs where I don't have a die. I cut and glued a Cricut mat onto the SNC mat. Works perfectly. Glued with Easy Tack.
Sandy Stein cut and glued? Why? Does the cricut mat work better? Did you cut all the excess away so that the brother lines still show? Pardon the confusion.
Tuned in for the first time! I think you are a pleasure to watch, I'm hooked on your video!!! I have a scan & cut machine sitting in the closet. I bought it at a home selling contents. I updated it, bought some accessories. We moved and I had it in storage.Just bought my new home, getting ready for my daughters baby shower and happened to come across your video!!! I have to get it out of the closet!! Can't wait to see what I have? LOL Thank You!!!!!
Hi May May, You have such a great spirit. I just saw this video and am so super happy I did. It was learning and so much fun to watch. I bought my Bro Scan&Cut2 round same time you did, but have not used it as much as I want to or should have. BUT, after watching your video, I am going to play with my machine much much more. I had forgotten that I can write in my own handwriting and scan/cut it on this machine. And so much more!! Thanks you loads for sharing and especially the inspiration. Hugz:) Arlene
Thanks MayMay! I recently purchased the ScanNCut2 350, i have seen it on TV and watched videos. Honestly, i have felt like an idiot, trying to use it. It seems forthright, but not as easy as i had thought! Ill keep watching your videos, they are great!
I had a cricut but sold it & got a scanncut. I looooove my scanncut. I love scanncut canvas, I think it’s sooo much easier to use than design space & it’s true measurement, I don’t have to calculate where the image will cut. I also use it to write & draw.
You always talk about this machine and I always wondered about it! This video answered all my questions. I really want one! That’s my goal this year! Thanks for sharing!
But..... all the research I did before I plunged and bought my Brother SnC I weighed all options and future expenses cause I didn’t want to have to buy more software all the time. However the biggest thing to remember all the price variations with the SnC are the “package” deals I paid almost $500 for mine.... but I got the wireless card, the SnC canvas, tools, extra blades, deep cut blade with holder, the mini markers with the pen holder for them, the adapter-pen holder holds sharpies and all kinds of markers, extra mat... I can’t remember what else. But at the time I was given 20% off any additional kits I bought that day. I got the rhinestone kit... and then any future purchases I get 10% of any SnC products. I now have the embossing set and the rubber stamp making set. I would definitely say if you only get to pick one machine this one. Also.... Julie The spokesperson for the SnC has tons of video how to do it and then there’s the customer service. For the wireless ya have to long into your home WiFi. and yes you can stamp and powder emboss a sentiment and scan it in to place a shape via the view screen of any kind around it to cut.
If you can hook a computer to this machine, and it has wi-fi, would you still need a wireless card? I understand having it when you travel for remote access, but I mean at home. Seems like it would work through the computer’s wi-if. But this may be a moot question because my Scan’nCut is enroute to me! LOL. I can’t wait. I bought it mainly to save buying Dies and to have a cutting machine. Thanks for your videos. They have shown me what I needed and what I didn’t need, and that is HUGE on a crafting purchase of this size ($).
Hi dear Maymay !! Your explanation about the cutting demo process using the ScanNcut2 in this video was so great, did you know that? And this is considering that the English language isn't my first and original spoken language and also considering that you spoke in your natural way, I mean: somewhat fast for me...(laughing)! But that is ok !! Thank you for your great video !!
I am just watching your video and do you know I have had my machine for some time now and Only just found out that you can stand your Stylus up at the back so a Big Thank you for saying that.
Oh my gosh!! I laughed so hard! I wish I’d be live w u!!! Ur the greatest! I have a Cricut Explore Air 2 (still in the box from Christmas, lol) & am seriously thinking of selling it & getting the newest one of these IF the software has been updated for canvas because the studio software terrifies me. I’m thinking about how much $each image costs w Cricus design software. Suggestions?
I was able to use the scan n cut canvas with no problems right out of the box. Cricut Design Studio comes with no instructions. I had to pay extra for a class on how to use it because it's not intuitive. I do think people with Apple products have more success with it. It may be one of those right brain, left brain things... the Cricuts that use cartridges and not the online design studio are a lot of fun!
That is an interesting way to look at it, I am all apple products. But, I never loved the cartridges, way too clunky. I wish you didn't have to pay for classes, there are so many of us on RUclips that do free classes online for just about anything you could think of with that software. I offer in house classes as well but you are actually making a project as you learn in those.
Wow I’d be really (bawling in tears) upset if I had to keep paying more just to learn how to use it. Brother isn’t like that at all so much on RUclips and free
I want to throw my snc 2 out the window!!! Now it wont read my stamped images!! And I agree with you on the software. You basically need to know autocad to use it. Now they have a whole new machine that does everything, automatically adjusts the blade material etc. Ugh. Love your videos!!
Hi thankyou for your video. It was so helpful :-) I am still wondering though, I have a scan n cut (cm900) which I want to use for cutting out my stamped images like you did. I was wondering about getting the Cricut maker as it can do a lot more other things that I wanted to do like cutting fabric without a backing which was good for me as I like to sew. I am very confused whether to get the maker as well or instead of or stick with my scan n cut? Can the maker cut out stamped images? I really like that feature. Sorry I am really confused.
Cricut does not have a scanner, at this time only the Scan n Cut can scan images in and cut them out. I have a Maker as well and it does amazing things like cut fabric, wood, all kinds of stuff. For me the scan n cut and the cricut are apples and oranges. I love my scan and cut but only use it for cutting out stamped or printed images, I do not care for the software that comes with the scan n cut so I use my Cricut for all other projects, the Design Space software is very user friendly and I enjoy using it. Hope that helps!
Hi-Bless you for posting this video. I am looking for a machine to cut vinyl stickers for me. I thought your demos were great! And, you and your husband are adorable!
I belong to a card club and there are four of us that get together every other Saturday.. All three of the other ladies now have Scan N Cuts except me.. I did see an Aqua blue color one that I would love to get but I have to wait..
I am so intimidated by these machines. I got a circuit for Christmas a few years ago, and I opened it, loaded a cartridge, put it back in the box, stuck it in my garage, and there it sits today. I feel badly about that, but can’t get past the intimidation. Probably should have sold it.
I use the (sure cuts alot) program with my ScanNcut. You can use the program to do all your work on screen then save it in FCM format which is the ScanNcut format, put it on the usb stick and cut away in your machine. I hate the canvas program it is so far behind Sure cuts Alot. I love my scal.
Hi! New subscriber here! I really liked your video, really informative. I have a question, if I print my own color images at home on my printer, will this machine be able to scan & cut them? I do centerpieces and I print & cut with scissors all my images, but if this machine can do it for me, it would be a God send! Thanks 😊
is there a way to cut around a stamped word or handwritten word that is not written in cursive? I'm to cut a printed stamped sentiment, but the machine wants to cut around each individual letter. is there a way to weld the cut lines??? HELP PLEASE
Hi friends, Just so you know the BSNC2 will cut those tiny itzy bitzy images from your planner stamp sets. I will stamp a bunch of them out and give them as a gift to my planner friends for part of their Christmas gifts!
Great product however when I and a friend went to cut out a whole sheet of stamped items it scanned ok but when it come up to cut not all were outlined. What did we do wrong or are they to close to one another?
applelover53. I agree you can upload SVG files. I like the Canvas other than I would love it if they had folders for me to put my saved files in. I have a Chromebook and unable to download any programs for Silhouette or Cricut. chromebook saves everything to the cloud which makes sense for me to use Scan N Cut
Costco has the Brother CM250 for $159.99 (incl ship & handling). I'm not sure the difference between the CM350 and CM250. I think it does not have wifi capability.
How do you get around "Angel Policies". I"m interested in buying a BS&C 2, but all of the Angel Policies I've read, say you can't change the images in any shape or form
I did watch you Q and A show on the Scan n Cut. My question to you is I know the Cricut and Scan n Cut are two different machines but why do you like the Cricut better. I had an old Cricut and about 100 cartridges. Gave them to the local library. Does the Cricut Maker outshine the Scan n Cut? I know they both cut, Cricut does not scan. Please help me understand. Thank you so much for doing that video.
The new cricuts are very different machines now, no cartridges, all digital. The software it uses is very user friendly and I find it much easier to use than the software for the Brother machine. I like my scan n cut for scanning in objects and cutting them out. Do some searching online for videos about the new Cricuts, Explore, Maker, and you’ll be able to see just how much easier it is now days.
The Design Space software doesn't require cartridges, you can upload your cartridges to the software but it is a digital platform so all the images are in the software. There are some free images, some paid and subsricption options available too.
Maymay Made It Crafts So if I understand you with the Cricut Maker you don't need cartridges at all. So no matter what you want to cut out that will be found on Design Space
Judy Krueger I have the Cricut Explore and the Cricut Maker. Since Cricut came out with the Maker they no longer have physical cartridges. They have gone to all digital. They have over 30,000 items in design space. Some are free. But some u have to pay for. They offer what they call Cricut Access for either $9.99/month or $7.99/month if u pay a year in advance. Now, they still offer cartridges u pay for separately for different prices. Once u buy them they will be uploaded digitally. It’s up to u as to what u want. With Access u do get 10% off most Cricut items. Hope this helps. I love Cricut. But I do not own at present a scan & cut. I think I would love it for same reasons as Maymay. But Cricut really is as she says. So easy to use.
Hello. Is there a way for my family and I to use our own indevidual mobile devices to get access to Scan N Cut Canvas Workshop? My husband can get the program on his own ipad and develope his own designs, but he cannot send his work to the SNC Because it is registered in my name.
I should have clarified you can get the updates in their website. It’s not hard to do, I just never do updates. I’m notorious for waiting till I’m forced to do them. L
May may I would like it if you would do more of things like Jenof eves templates when I try it won't work is it because I try the plain and you used the printed templates.so would you do another one so I can try again.
Unfortunately, if you want it to cut your actual writing you would need to do it over each time. However, now that it is saved I can cut the image out as many as I’d like and just use colored paper or color the page I cut. You can choose quantities and put them on the mat as well. Hope that answered.
Isn't it a good thing everybody's different, LOL. Cricut design studio is Horrible!!! IMO. And you have to continually pay for it. The scan n cut design software is very logical and easy to use. Best of all it's FREE. SNC is a much more useful machine then a Cricut. It does everything useful that a Cricut Air does, plus it scans.
It is, I always do you do you. I obviously disagree about the scan n cut software. The same thing you can get with canvas is free on cricut. The basic software doesn’t cost anything. It’s when you want to add images and fonts that you can subscribe to that costs. It’s probably just what you get used to using.
But..... all the research I did before I plunged and bought my Brother SnC I weighed all options and future expenses cause I didn’t want to have to buy more software all the time. I have a scanNcut. It's my first machine ever.. I can't compare to Cricut, but I like it my scanNcut. I have no problem with it.. Iam one of those persons that can't operate the computer and when it comes down loads it's so confusing for me ,but with scanncut canvas its ok downloading the files is pretty easy for someone that doesn't know how to operate a computer Lol. And when it comes to with vinyl I already have done project using scanNcut and it works as well as a cricut in my opinion. Lol. I can download the SVG files just like a cricut . I can go to any website and down load SVG files just like a cricut.but like I said before, since it's my first machine I haven't found any problems yet I like it. And best partof all that a cricut can't do is cut stamp images.. I'm done buying dies. But That's not all if I see a nice sentiment , from magazine for example, I can always scan it when transfer to scan and cut machine and then I can transfer it to a cardstock and turn it into a beautiful card. With out using a scanner or ink i could my very own Dollars tree pens if i want. You don't need one to buy expense pens.. Could cricut scan a images with out a scanner? Don't think so. At time you don't even need a computer or a IPad or tablet to make projects. You can't do that with Cricut. YOU always need a computer or iPad to connect. .. overall I'm happy , but in time I might move up to cricut..just to see the comparison.
But, as someone who has used both machines, the flexibility in the Cricut software is so much better. Having. Said that, I am happy you love your machine. As I always say, you do you, if that machine is all you need, awesome!
Maymay Made It Crafts , yea , you are right.. who know in time I might upgrade to a Cricut Marker just to compare them both.maybe then the price is right. 😁
It would have been really helpful to me if we could have seen the a scanner screen as you were pointing things out. I need more help than most people. :{
Needing to watch this again as I still have this older model. So glad this is here.

My hubby wants a PlayStation 4 for Christmas this year - think I will ask for a Brother Scan N Cut... thanks for this
Great tutorial! I love watching all your tutorials because you are thorough and so easy to follow.
Hubby bought me the same scan n cut a few months ago. I’m still getting used to it. I also have a Cricut and they are COMPLETELY different tools.
I bought my scan and cut 2 and then life happened and I have yet to break out with it and use it. I saved this video many moons ago and again got stoked up to use this machine based on your video. This summer I paid 286.79 from Amazon - haven’t opened yet - this looks easy enough so it will be opened very soon!!! Thank you Maymay!!!

Hi-Bless you for posting this video. I am looking for a machine to cut vinyl stickers for me. I thought your demos were great! And, you and your husband are adorable!
Wondered if you know how to put items into single ones when you put how many you want to cut please.
I belong to a card club and there are four of us that get together every other Saturday.. All three of the other ladies now have Scan N Cuts except me.. I did see an Aqua blue color one that I would love to get but I have to wait..
got this for Christmas last year and never could get it to work ..might bring it out and try again once holidays are over tyty for the lesion
MayMay the SNC machine can save 60 mats worth of data
Can I scan a die in order to re size it or shouldI cut it out first then scan the card stock?
Hi Maymay!.. TFS, VERY helpful video . Can I BUY this from Michael's.? Where can I buy one PLEASE?
I am so intimidated by these machines. I got a circuit for Christmas a few years ago, and I opened it, loaded a cartridge, put it back in the box, stuck it in my garage, and there it sits today. I feel badly about that, but can’t get past the intimidation. Probably should have sold it.
Please be gentle when raising and lowering your screen. The wires inside are notoriously fragile. It they break it costs a fortune to get repaired. ☺️
Do you know the difference between the 250 & 350?

Yes, you can shadow any design and even change the size of the shadow!
I LOVE sure cuts a lot!!
Cathy which version of SCAL do you have. I'm getting on of these machines but I know my SCAL is outdated.
You and you’re family are adorable! Wish a beautiful Christmas 🎄 to yo’ll 😀
Hi! New subscriber here! I really liked your video, really informative. I have a question, if I print my own color images at home on my printer, will this machine be able to scan & cut them? I do centerpieces and I print & cut with scissors all my images, but if this machine can do it for me, it would be a God send! Thanks 😊
Amy. Can you put one picture on the pad and have it print out or cut out a page ful
So I must be really behind the times because I just found out what a scan and cut is!!
is there a way to cut around a stamped word or handwritten word that is not written in cursive? I'm to cut a printed stamped sentiment, but the machine wants to cut around each individual letter. is there a way to weld the cut lines??? HELP PLEASE
What is the number of that one?
Hi this one is the SNC CM350,thanks
Is it possible to use the brother to cut thru plastic sheets for airbrushing stencils?
It is so easy now to use the canvas workspace now
Hi friends, Just so you know the BSNC2 will cut those tiny itzy bitzy images from your planner stamp sets.
You don’t need to convert a svg file, the SNC can use SVG
applelover53. I agree you can upload SVG files. I like the Canvas other than I would love it if they had folders for me to put my saved files in.
I have a Chromebook and unable to download any programs for Silhouette or Cricut. chromebook saves everything to the cloud which makes sense for me to use Scan N Cut
Yes, you can upload SVG files. I think I misunderstood the question. Sorry!
Is this the newest Scan n Cut cm350
I have this machine. I have used it once.. I find it hard to use after using a cricut.
U can do bulk and white too though
Costco has the Brother CM250 for $159.99 (incl ship & handling). I'm not sure the difference between the CM350 and CM250. I think it does not have wifi capability.
I just got one of these today for 100.00 and wanted it for stamps.
How
How do you get around "Angel Policies". I"m interested in buying a BS&C 2, but all of the Angel Policies I've read, say you can't change the images in any shape or form
I would like to know the name of that two way glue you use to re-stick your mats with? And do you sell it?
Wendy O'dell Zig 2 way glue. Most craft stores sell them.
Such a cool machine. I want one!! thank you for the demo!!!
I did watch you Q and A show on the Scan n Cut.
My question to you is
I know the Cricut and Scan n Cut are two different machines but why do you like the Cricut better.
Maymay Made It Crafts so the new Cricut zmaker does not require cartridges at all?? I don't own any cartridges anymore and I could use the Maker
MsMay May , to cut inside and out , do I still have to save to the machine, please and thank u ,I just got mine Tuesday 3/5/18
Can you use this to make labels for candles?
Girl you make my day!
Hello. Is there a way for my family and I to use our own indevidual mobile devices to get access to Scan N Cut Canvas Workshop? My husband can get the program on his own ipad and develope his own designs, but he cannot send his work to the SNC Because it is registered in my name.
I’ve never seen a demo of the scan n cut. I’m open to new machines , different machines because I’m only into cricut but I’m open
hi jean from sa love your demo we cant get most of the stuff u mention the glue non existant but love watching very jealous xxx granny jean
Hi, will this machine cut balsa wood?
Do they make this in a smaller version?
You use soften to cut around an image
Can I use my Apple I pad for canvas ? Thank you so much hugs ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
HI, yes you can download the IOS app, thanks
I found out that there is an update for this machine. If you contact Brother they will email it to you.
Christine Emrick All the updates are available from the Brother website for you to download and install
I should have clarified you can get the updates in their website. It’s not hard to do, I just never do updates. I’m notorious for waiting till I’m forced to do them. L
You just upload an svg to canvas, and then when you send it to your machine it’s a fcm or scan & cut file
Would love you to do the same thing with the Cricut. An info and demo video.
I have lots of videos about the Cricut. Check out my Cricut playlist. Thanks!
If all I want to do is cut out images...can I get the CM 250? Is it too outdated?? It is cheaper.
where can you get crafters companion stick and spray
May may I would like it if you would do more of things like Jenof eves templates when I try it won't work is it because I try the plain and you used the printed templates.so would you do another one so I can try again.
Thank you for saying you can only use Brother mats, was about to cut my Cricut mat and then it would have been a waste...
Can you please do one on the new Cricut Explore Air 2 PLEASE thank you so much ♥️
now you can cut may may any size any color and as many times asfits on paperand also draw and cut
Can you cut around an image that does not have solid lines?
Can the machine make the image larger ?
Will this marchone cut Balsam wood
If you save Maymay into the machine and you want to cut 8 of them how do you take that single image and multiply it?
But..... all the research I did before I plunged and bought my Brother SnC
I weighed all options and future expenses cause I didn’t want to have to buy more software all the time.
However the biggest thing to remember all the price variations with the SnC are the “package” deals
I paid almost $500 for mine.... but
I got the wireless card, the SnC canvas, tools, extra blades, deep cut blade with holder, the mini markers with the pen holder for them, the adapter-pen holder holds sharpies and all kinds of markers, extra mat...
Not seeing you guys, I can hear you.i just get your Maymay Made it.
Thank U n Gracias for all this great info, I also have a CRICUT but just got a new Brothers machine
Can you buy a stylus replacement?
You can also resize with the Scan and Cut
Elaine Higham Yeah, that will be handy for appliqué shapes that need to be a bit bigger so the embroidery machine can catch them.
My brother scanncut does not reckonise the letters I put into the keyboard it selects the letter next to it Help
wow again love the Bleed.
Can you put more than just one image to cut at a time?
Yes, I usually fill the page and cut a lot out at once. Thanks!
is this the scan ncut#2 200 orthe350
What is the difference between the scan n cut and the design n cut?
Risa Buckingham The Design and Cut doesn't have a scanner. It's been brought out to compete with the Silhouette and Cricut. I wouldn't buy it. ☺️
Thank you so much! I learned some new things!
Great detail Thanks for the video.
How do you fix a mat that was cut to deep
You can use duct tape on the back...
It would have been really helpful to me if we could have seen the a scanner screen as you were pointing things out. I need more help than most people. :{
