I don't think Gumball and Darwin necessarily HATE Richard (atleast, for most of the episodes), they're literally just being matter of fact. They're just brutally honest about how their dad is... Speaking of which, despite Richard becoming extremely swole... he's still ultimately dumb, and apparantely vain? Hence all the chaos from trying to take instagram pictures while unknowingly causing harm to everyone around him...
Darwin calls Richard Mr. Dad because: 1. He's a father figure 2. He knows they're not related and feels like he needs to give more respect. (in one episode they even joked about it, with Darwin saying "you're not my real dad?" and Richard responding with "how did you know?!" before they both erupted in laughter)
Them laughing was pretty wholesome, despite not being biologically related. I said a similar thing with Finn and Jake, with Jake's parents adopted Finn. Sadly comments got offended over me correcting that Finn is adopted, it's infuriating for something so simple.
