@@johnkringe The room Kevin stayed in wasn't actually real room. That was filmed on a sound stage in Hollywood. The room the entire family stayed in at the end of the movie was filmed at the Hilton in Chicago, specifically the Conrad Hilton Suite.
A hotel asking for $40,000 a night and not having a swimming pool, has to be the most outrageous thing I've ever heard of.
They have a pool, but not the one Kevin used in home alone 2

Look at the royal plaza suite now compare to how grand and Charming it usto be when the movie was filmed. The warmth the character the coloured the cosines the decor has been totally transformed into a lifeless colourless, room that lacks warmth. A far cry from what New York usto be huge contrast to the cosines and homely warming feel the old plaza rooms once had
I've noticed that in a lot of high end hotels recently. The rooms lack character and charm, like the designer picked a cookie cutter layout off of the Sims 4. Even sadder is when the lobby and common areas look more homely and welcoming than the actual suites.
Kevin's room at The Plaza wasn't actually filmed there. They shot the lobby scenes in the hotel but that's all. That famous room with the mini bar with the cookies was filmed on a sound stage in Hollywood.

We had a pipe burst at my parents’ house last year right before Christmas. Everything was fine and insurance took care of everything. My parents were just so devastated that our Christmas was going to have to be celebrated in a hotel paid for by insurance.
I was inconsolably elated. Many cannonballs were practiced and scoops of ice cream eaten. My joy knew no bounds.

I checked the Plaza hotel's website to see if they really had no pool, their FAQ does address the question site said this: "Despite Kevin McCallister’s famous cannonball, The Plaza does not currently house a swimming pool. Instead, the pool scene took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago.👍
To bad u didn't do the Shower scene where Kevin puts the clown in the tub and plays his uncles Voice saying Get outta here u pervert or im gonna slap u silly. or the scene where They get on knees and say I LOVE U that woulda been awesome

The renovation they did in 2005 destroyed the classic beauty of this once gorgeous Plaza hotel lobby, what a shame, the lobby looks bland now and reminds me of a funeral home...

Watching Home Alone 2 now, and when you were searching for the pool and mentioning the fun fact that there isn't a pool and that the cannon ball was filmed in Chicago the cannon ball scene came on on Home Alone 2. Well I'll be!
