Joey caving in and letting Chandler off the hook at the end of the episode was such a Joey thing to do. He was never going to stay mad at Chandler for that. I mean, it's not like he stole his food.
Chandler in a Box is probably one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. there is so much to love about it, but in particular, I love how it showcases the strength of Joey and Chandler's friendship. it also demonstrates just how funny Matthew Perry is, that he can even pull off comedy while being inside a box for the majority of an episode.
Joey had every right to be mad at Chandler - but he did go out with someone else while he was dating Kathy and he didn't even tell her about it. It was pretty clear that he wasn't as serious about her as Chandler was and that was the most infuriating part of this storyline. Chandler did cross a line but it was a genuine mistake - not a pre planned thing.
@@notraekookomg i was just about to comment a major spoiler around seasons 8-9 involving joey (u might know what i’m talking about) but then i stopped myself because i realized this is a reaction channel and he’s barely on season 4 💀 whoops lmao
I agree that using Ross & Rachel's relationship as a comparison to Joey and Kathy's is like apples and oranges because Rachel and Ross WERE exclusive and had even exchanged "I love you's", whereas, like you pointed out, Joey specifically said he and Kathy weren't exclusive AND he was on a date with another girl on the same night he was scheduled to see her. I think Joey's ego had a little to do with it, as well as the fact that Chandler was his best friend and, although Chandler technically DID tell Joey how he felt, Joey was too "Joey" to get it. 😊
That’s how I feel. As a man, my opinion is that if you are calling someone "your girlfriend" then you should be mutually exclusive. Since she did not belong to Joey, they did not belong to each other, and therefore she was as free to date as he was, until otherwise mutually agreed upon. Joey was trying to have his cake and eat it too. I get that the true reason for his anger was over the betrayal, but if Joey wasn’t so slow on the uptake, he would have seen and understood that Chandler TRIED to confess his feelings for Kathy long before the kiss.
@@adnap Kinda disagree in this specific case.. Chandler should know Joey well enough to realize that he had to be very straight forward with him. Everyone else were plainly aware of how Joey would react if Chandler had just been frank with him. Whether or not they in a non-exclusive relationship doesn't rly matter when it's someone close to you who starts to meddle. And evidently, Joey started to develop feelings for Kathy, which made that meddling a betrayal. Chandler was the one who was slow, and had his priorities wrong.
It’s strange to me how he kept calling him a girlfriend and was so upset if they weren’t exclusive. I mean if Chandler end Kathy slept together I would understand it more.
Also, they are different because Rachel told Ross they were on a break, then invites the guy round that wants to get with her and she knows and Ross has a problem with.
And the writers and producers said that they had a hard time figuring out if when he said the numbers if he should put the fingers up before or after he said the numbers or when he said the numbers! 😂😂😂😂

I love how the morality of the Chandler-Joey-Kathy love triangle is an ever-shifting Chinese puzzle box, a complicated jigsaw where the ethical line keeps moving on what side right and wrong, left or right the pendulum sways and ultimately falls to determine which of the three unwitting participants will land, the cosmic chess match of where and how the parameters and dynamics of a given situation move haphazardly like the tectonic plates in the Earth's core after a big seismic disruption leaving everything, everywhere with everyone on Shakey ground.
Maybe Joey could have been mildly annoyed. But he was planning to move out and not talk to Chandler for who knows how long. Despite Chandler telling of the missing and Kathy breaking up with him and Chandler being all the furniture.
If Monica and Ross have known Richard since they were kids and he’s their dads best friend and it’s already established that they were friends with his daughter Michelle and went to high school with her, then why do they not know Tim? It’s a plot hole I will never forgive.
When I was young and this show was new I had such a massive crush on Rachel Green. Since then, a lot of time has passed and I grew up a bit, and I see Monica as the much more appealing personality. Rachel can just be awful. The writers really did her dirty for comedic value in the middle seasons. That said, the Kathy saga is one of my absolute favorites in the series.
#ChandlerDidNothingWrong. (Have Yet to Watch the Reaction) So, yeah. Following up from my comment of last week, I seem to be in the STRONG minotrity opinion with other fans regarding this Joey / Kathy / Chandler love triangle, and there was NO good reason for Chandler to need to get into that damn box for all Thanksgiving Day. ;) Not only was Chandler an AMAZINGLY supportive and accommodating roommate and friend to Joey for YEARS before this stupid Kathy "incident," but on top of that: - Joey & Kathy WERE NOT even *exclusive* by Joey's own direct words. - Joey clearly didn't even know Kathy too well (wasn't even planning to give her a birthday gift and didn't know how to pick one out for her) and didn't treat their non-exclusive time together very seriously. - Chandler and Kathy were actually in-love, or at the very least had a genuine strong connection. It wasn't just a matter of Chandler being jealous that Joey "once again got that hot girl I spotted at the coffee shop." - Chandler informed Joey of what happened and profusely apologized WITHIN DAYS! You'd think he waited and kept it a secret for weeks or months or some crap. In short, Joey behaved like a freakin' baby. I honestly don't understand the "loyalty" angle either, if they are not exclusive. I'm not saying that Chandler should have continued for several weeks without saying a word, but he did plan to tell Joey, and soon after he did just that, and explained everything. If Joey was rational (which I know he's human and nobody's rational all of the time when they're upset) he would have been like, "Ohh, that feels kinda weird, you being my best friend and all, and I was starting to consider becoming exclusive with her, but the bottom line is that - at the time you two kissed - she and I WEREN'T exclusive, and if I can date another girl, she can kiss another guy. Thanks for being honest with me." It was also a "heat of passion" thing too, not like Chandler asked her out without asking Joey's opinion, or dated her for a long period of time secretly. There was no cheating, and I don't see how "we're best friends" makes Chandler off-limits as one of the people allowed to kiss Kathy in this non-exclusive, casual "relationship." I just can't see this thing between Joey and Kathy as a big deal, based on words or observation. I know everybody's different, but if I went on a few casual dates with a guy, had him meet my friends, barely even considered his birthday, called him my non-exclusive "boyfriend" just for the fun of the label, and then found out that while I was on a date with a different guy my best friend kissed him and felt terrible about it because she'd been secretly in love with him and pained over it since they met, I don't think I'd have an "OH MY GOD, you betrayed me!" attitude. It would be more of a, "Well, thanks for letting me know and not letting it go farther to the point where I'd feel like an idiot completely in the dark. But sure, he and I were never serious, I'll back off, go be happy together." It's just SUCH an overreaction by Joey. I've just always had issues with the "grey exclusivity" part of this arc. I feel like the storyline would've worked better and been more fair and complex in my eyes if Joey had never said "we aren't exclusive" and wasn't on a date with some other girl at the same time that Kathy and Chandler kissed. If the writers never added that part, I'd be on board for this drama. In that case it *WOULD* have been cheating, and that'd be a big "OH SHIT, OH HELL NO, Chandler, what are you doing?!" moment. It most definitely would have been wrong, no question, yet we (or at least I) would still sympathize with Chandler and understand and forgive him because he and Kathy did have a strong connection, and he was falling deeply in love with her, and is so unlucky in love, and had been suffering for weeks as Joey's roommate - watching and hearing them together all the time, and Joey clearly didn't feel nearly as strongly for Kathy as Chandler did, or put as much effort into the relationship. It doesn't justify CHEATING, and we would also feel terrible for Joey, but when you add all of those factors on top of how GUILTY and awful Chandler felt, it's a much more engaging grey area and moral dilemma. But the "we aren't exclusive" thing kinda throws that all away for me, because he literally did nothing wrong. And I swear this is not a "Chandler's my favorite character and can do no wrong" thing. If Joey never said that "exclusive" line, this would be SO much more fucked up, but as is, it doesn't feel like a big deal at all. But I KNOW that it's only a sitcom, and I still love the show with all my heart, especially this storyline, just because I love Chandler-centric plots.
Everything you said is true, yes they were exclusive, but it's still a kick in the teeth for your best friend to kiss your girlfriend (even if you and your girlfriend are exclusive.) It's kind of like if your best friend kisses your ex, yes you don't date them anymore, but the fact that your friend didn't think about your feelings is just sad.
@@ImagineOtherFair enough and understandable, but I think to MOST people an ex would mean a hell of a lot more to them than Kathy ever did to Joey. She was casual arm candy / a casual bed partner. This just feels SO much like Joey throwing a hissy fit over arbitrary "loyalty rules" that he holds far stronger than necessary, without any consideration for the people or context. Chandler's explanation and apology - and admittance that this wasn't planned and that he felt terrible - should have been enough that very evening. Not this drawn-out grudge-holding and threatening to move out, making cruel and demeaning demands on a major holiday in their friend's apartment. Ludicrous, lol.
Just from a guy’s perspective, I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you in what you’re saying but it’s part of the bro code not to do anything with your friend’s sister or girlfriend. Those are the usual off limits when it comes to friendship so whether it’s justified or not, it’s actually a pretty realistic outcome from my experience. I just wanted to throw that in there. I do believe sometimes the rules of the bro code has its moments where it causes conflict rather than it prevents/helps, and I would say that this episode is where it made a conflict worse. It would’ve been minor response from Joey, otherwise if it had been almost any any other guy than Chandler
I feel like even if they weren’t exclusive its a messed up thing to fw someone your best friend is talking to and could possibly become exclusive with tbh 😭
I own the entire DVD collection of all 10 seasons of Friends, and I have watched it in its entirety approximately 27 hillion gajillion times. This episode is one of the ones that irritates me the most: The whole ENTIRE reason that Joey wasn’t there that night was because HE WAS ON A DATE WITH ANOTHER WOMAN!!!!!! If he cared so much about Kathy, why the hell was he with someone else???? If it’s on for Joey to be on a date with someone, than it is ok for Chandler to kiss Kathy.
Joey was the jerk in this situation. Ross is wrong, it's not a good point to compare kissing Kathy, who Joey recently met and who he was two-timing, to if Chandler had kissed Rachel, who Chandler would've known Ross had been hung up on for years, by the time Ross and Rachel were dating. Chandler literally *told* Joey he was in love with Kathy, during the first episode Kathy was in. So, the claim that Chandler didn't tell him is complete BS. Then having Chandler stall Kathy while Joey was hooking up with some other woman was ridiculous. Chandler had nothing to apologize for. In fact, I wish Chandler would've told Joey off for how he treated him and Kathy. If this were "New Girl," Joey would need to put a dollar in the d0uche jar for his behavior.

Ikr! I’ve been surprised that he’s been so easy on Chandler. 😅 I’m like ummm…what kind of friend are you? 😅
@@wackybrattyxHe probably would do the same. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@guimaraespadilha 😬😬😬👏🏾👏🏾
Maybe Joey could have been mildly annoyed. But he was planning to move out and not talk to Chandler for who knows how long. Despite Chandler telling of the missing and Kathy breaking up with him and Chandler being all the furniture.
If Monica and Ross have known Richard since they were kids and he’s their dads best friend and it’s already established that they were friends with his daughter Michelle and went to high school with her, then why do they not know Tim? It’s a plot hole I will never forgive.
Richard’s son is the actor from Never Been Kissed
EDM was invented by creative types just like Ross, they just pulled it off with style.
Remember in the prom episode - Ross was playing the keyboards?
Recently discovered u and really enjoying 🙂
was waiting so long for the next episodes ...plz my humble request to do friends more frequently
"If you're Irish." 😂
When I was young and this show was new I had such a massive crush on Rachel Green. Since then, a lot of time has passed and I grew up a bit, and I see Monica as the much more appealing personality. Rachel can just be awful. The writers really did her dirty for comedic value in the middle seasons. That said, the Kathy saga is one of my absolute favorites in the series.
#ChandlerDidNothingWrong.
(Have Yet to Watch the Reaction)
So, yeah. Following up from my comment of last week, I seem to be in the STRONG minotrity opinion with other fans regarding this Joey / Kathy / Chandler love triangle, and there was NO good reason for Chandler to need to get into that damn box for all Thanksgiving Day. ;)
Not only was Chandler an AMAZINGLY supportive and accommodating roommate and friend to Joey for YEARS before this stupid Kathy "incident," but on top of that:
- Joey & Kathy WERE NOT even *exclusive* by Joey's own direct words.
It wasn't just a matter of Chandler being jealous that Joey "once again got that hot girl I spotted at the coffee shop."
- Chandler informed Joey of what happened and profusely apologized WITHIN DAYS!
There was no cheating, and I don't see how "we're best friends" makes Chandler off-limits as one of the people allowed to kiss Kathy in this non-exclusive, casual "relationship."
I just can't see this thing between Joey and Kathy as a big deal, based on words or observation.
YES TO ALL OF THIS!!
@@Heida77Thank you, Kindred-Spirit! :D
"Can you really do that?"
"If you're Irish."
Damn, Thor? You're bang on the money 🤣
I feel like even if they weren’t exclusive its a messed up thing to fw someone your best friend is talking to and could possibly become exclusive with tbh 😭
If Yoko Ono's art is considered music, then, Ross is a genius 🤷🏼♀️😅✌️
"If you're Irish."
LOL, where did that comment come from?
I love them cussing each other out by telling each other to go to Naples! I mean Naples is considered the worst place in Italy so…
LOL I love Ross music. But that CASIO keyboard doesn't sound like that at all. i have it.
Nooo! I on purposely didnt watch this for a day cause i know it will be ages (in my head) for the next video 😅
I was waiting ❤️❤️❤️.. Joey & Chandler, rose💯💯.. This time boys scored... 😏
Who’s Elaine? 😂😂😂😂
Richard's son must hate him. He has to if he thinks it is okay to make a pass on his dad's exgirlfriend.
I own the entire DVD collection of all 10 seasons of Friends, and I have watched it in its entirety approximately 27 hillion gajillion times. This episode is one of the ones that irritates me the most:
The whole ENTIRE reason that Joey wasn’t there that night was because
HE WAS ON A DATE WITH ANOTHER WOMAN!!!!!!
If he cared so much about Kathy, why the hell was he with someone else????
If it’s on for Joey to be on a date with someone, than it is ok for Chandler to kiss Kathy.
Super Duper yay!
I mean if your friend wasn’t in an exclusive relationship, would it fine for you to kiss or whatever with the same girl?
6:28 was this the sound of a fart????
🫶 thank you
you used to be Thor?
Just one question, did you create a fake scare about friends reaction being taken down on your channel? Cuz 2 things, 1. Anyways you posted the next reaction and 2. I've seen a lot of other RUclips channels doing friends reaction and none of them were flagged. Please tell the truth.
A "fake reaction scare"? Um no, I have all the copyright claims/ blocks on my RUclips studio dashboard, not to mention the Friends reactions which have been removed from the channel which you could easily check yourself. Honestly I don't know why you would even watch the reactions from someone you would actually think would do this (or why a reactor even would)... but hey, I guess it wouldn't be the internet without its theories...
@@nickreacts6394 Okay, sorry Nick! 😅 Let me be honest, I was too drunk today and also very frustrated about the fact why it was so late since you dropped a friends reaction after last week. It's just that, from past 2-3 days everytime I open RUclips I was expecting your reaction to be there.... Sorry for saying harsh things, forgive a drunkard 🙈 but at the end of the day it's just about seeing your reactions once a week that fills me up with joy! Sorry for the insensitive comments again 🙏
Please keep up the good work you're doing, with all the other classic movie reactions too. ❤
