    Thank you. I enjoyed that this morning. I went for a similar ski last night and our snow was unusually good! I had Garmont Excursions with Asnes Rabb 68 and Voile Telemark 3 pin using full skins and then kick wax. Very similar to your S-Bound 98 but without the waxless pattern. Pretty old school technology except the skis are lighter now and more shapely which I love. Speaking of evolution I just noticed that Scarpa is coming out with their first telemark boot in about 16 years and it cost them $1 Million to develop!

      Yes, the new boot is very interesting. For those reading this comment, here is a great link to the new boot. ruclips.net/video/VoMURFMz1Uo/видео.html I'm on the fence as to whether or not to try NTN skiing with this new boot. If I was a resort skier I'd give it a go for sure, but it may be overkill for the type of skiing I enjoy. What I'm worried about is that the boot might be too constraining for my taste in the downhill mode. I've removed the "ski mode" mechanism and the power strap on my T2 boots as I prefer more slop and flex in my ski style than most people. I'm glad you had a great ski with your Rabb 68's. I've never skied a set, but they sure receive lots of praise on the forums. Take care and enjoy your Spring ski outings.

    Grateful for you and apparently Dirty Dingus for helping to make this kind of skiing known to the rest of us.

    Good video. We're having a good end to a marginal winter.

      The last month has really made up for the slow start in our area. With all the recent warm temps and sunshine it is starting to feel like we might be in for an early Spring.

    That was enjoyable tom unfortunately we haven’t had enough snow to ski on in six weeks here in northern Michigan

      I sure hope that you have a longer season next year. Many of our winter storms were on the edge temperature wise between very wet snow and rain depending on the elevation. I still have a few ski videos in the que and I just returned yesterday from a multi-day ski outing so stay tuned if you need a ski fix.

    Nice talk. I remember both my parents had 100% metal Fischer skis that weighed a TON and were very long. Three pin bindings with cables and lace-up leather boots. They skied at resorts with heals locked-down, often riding the T-bar at a local ski hill. Eventually they switched to much shorter and lighter skis in the 70’s. Skis were very skinny and it would still be a couple of decades before the first shaped skis would come around. By that time they had given up the sport. Memories!

      The gear that is available today is so amazing in comparison to what I learned to ski on in the 70's. If a time traveler could have brought me a modern setup when I was in my 20's it would have blown my mind for sure. Thanks for tuning in and for posting and I hope you are having a great week.

    I started tele a few years ago since that is what kids in Bozeman were doing in Bridger 20yrs back! I love challenge to get a perfect turn. It has taken me 4 years at the resort to get there! Loved the conversation Tom. How steep is the hill you were on?

    • @tomm9850
      @tomm9850  5 месяцев назад +1

      This slope is not very uniform in angle, some flatter sections and a few moderate angles. The snow was pretty slow on this particular outing. I measured the lower section of this hill in a previous video with my cell phone at 20 degrees ruclips.net/video/f1jLq1_X5Fc/видео.html and that sounds about right for most of the hill.

    I never really alpine skied- only x-c and tele. Can't see going AT.

    Why doesn't a tele skier switch to AT? Why do birds fly even though they can walk? Why play checkers when you can play chess? Why sail when you can have a motorboat?

      All I know is that I'm happiest when I'm skiing light weight gear in freshly fallen snow.
