Played the Diablo 4 beta and really enjoyed it and wanted more. I’ve always been a long time casual(ish) arpg fan so I have been looking for a game to scratch that itch until June and I played a bit of Last Epoch which is very fun and has a lot of skill variety but I hate the setting and style kinda. I have been watching your vids on Wolcen and I think I’ll give it a shot. You are very well spoken and straight to the point, keep it up!
For all it's woes... Wolcen really has *the* *best* combat of an arpg out there imo, even after playing the D4 beta. Though, as you said, there are *still* bugs to iron out the devs have never let up.

I'm enjoying the game so far. The only problems ive had is some lag from time to time. Overall I think the game is solid and definitely fun. And of course, we all know Thy has the best background music on RUclips :)
I had a great time with acts 1-2...No bugs, really fun game. Then I got to act 3 (at the same time the act 4 patch/update dropped) and I have a bug that's bad enough to keep me from playing. Many others have reported it too. The one where all of your spell and attack effects disappear along with some loot drops and other animations. You can restart the game and it goes away, but it will come back. Unless/until this is fixed, I don't think I'll play anymore. It's a shame.
So you can be bothered to reset a game?...i mean the bug sucks and needs fixing, but thar just seems like you weren't really enjoying it in the first place lol. Having so much fun but can't be bothered to take a minute to reboot? I don't buy it
Ah I reached chapter 3 last night and got the same thing on my Xbox. So that's a chapter 3 bug? Weird. I mean it's a 10 second fix to log out and in again but still an annoyance
Yes that is annoying. It sometimes happened to me previously in boss fights. Invisible fireballs at Oshara, makes the fight pretty much impossible haha
@@Thyworm the menu is extremly bugged for me. finally managed to do it after looking at their discord. i had to reset my graphic settings, then somehow after clicking around the first duplicates appeared on the left window at demetra, from there i could duplicate it again. but now the buttons in the player skill menu where unclickable so i could not equip it. fiddeling around with a gamepad worked, after you find the unintuitive way to even get to those buttons with a pad. then i could finally equip my skills. i really want to like wolcen, but stuff like this makes it really hard.
Ye it can be very weird, and some people have a lot of issues, while others like me don't have too many. But for me it used to have tons of issues as well, so I know what you mean
It's currently 75% off on Steam (£7.74 in UK). Tempted to get it but seeing so many negative reviews (especially on the Steam page itself) I'm a bit reluctant. Been playing Last Epoch for the last few weeks but its loot system is utterly boring. Once you get to level 70-80 nothing useful drops and you just ignore all the loot, which is a big L in a looter shooter.

I would recommend starting a new character actually. Campaign doesn't take that long, and you'll do yourself a favour in terms of potential bugs and mismatches. Old characters should be compatible, but often are not, plus the new endgame makes a lot more sense on a new character. Bought this game on sale for $9 the start of the summer sale, the game is clunky but seems like it could be fun..... until it blue screened my pc at level 8. dont know what happened exactly but was just walking out of town and boom pc locked up. only game ive had that happen to me on. hoping whatever it is doesnt happen again so i can keep trying to enjoy the game
Interesting. I think i will play Wolcen again until D4 comes out. Too bad with all the patches its not polished as it should be by now but the combat alone is quite fun to sunk maybe dozens hours.
Yes exactly, you're going to have a good time for 50-100 hours, depending a bit on your appetite to grind. I could honestly play more with this endgame. But PoE starts Friday, and I might make some content about that as well
I love Wolcen, been playing off and on since launch. I wish the studio was a bit bigger and I honestly wouldn't mind micro transactions if it meant expanding the studio and cleaning up the game more. BIGGEST issue: Anytime I play the game with my 3 friends, it breaks the game and lags hard. Seems like 2 people are the max you can do without lagging out of existence. Also hoping for a balancing patch with abilities. ALOT if not most 217+ builds are Summoners, Iosonic Rain or Railgun builds. Clearly an imbalance there.
I can imagine. I tried a spellcaster and went to maybe 150 difficulty, and started to struggle. I might try to make it work still, but PoE is up first.
They are cheesy cosmetics to just help show support in their continued efforts. I hate MTX as much as the next guy but making something a hard pass because it has a half baked shop you can buy like 10 diff items from IF you want to doesn’t really scream greed. But diff strokes and all! Game on.
@thismarxtheendforjoo2298 yup. The mtx really aren't that bad and are mostly for support. I do feel they need to step up their game on the mtx if they want to keep selling them, because they look pretty shit
atm are on sale and for 7 euro.. its worth it in my opinion having like 14-15h in aredy but still dident unlocked to duplicate skills :/ and idk how to do it
you can get the first unlock from a trader in town, and for the second, you need to construct a building in town, in end game. (and maybe for the first as well, I don't exactly remember).
Hello...I've been looking at this for console since it was annouced and have followed this for awhile on Steam. It seems there's a mixed bag of reviews even on PC as far as performance, UI, bugs while praising gameplay. On console however, many have reported Bugs & UI being issues but those who played it said yea, it fun but those issues are keeping it from being better...and yea, I'm huge with Diablo, Path of Exile and even a bit of Grim Dawn....is the overall experience on PC the same for console, beginning to end game?
DE leveling characters 4 years after launch... and 9 years after start of development. These shenanigans are why it sits idle in my steam catalogue with 87 hours played even though I bought this game way back when it was called "Umbra".
Is there any good excuse to start a new character? I'm getting kinda bored with my current build but I feel like trying something new is basically just starting over with no benefit to the overall progress of the game.
I think there is, yes. The game expects you to, so everything works a little better. And if you do part of the campaign, you get the pet that picks up gold and helps find the bloodtrails. And the overall progression from level 1 just feels much nicer, imo. Levelling doesn't take that long either, i an levelling a melee build currently myself, while just watching some youtube on the side.
I agree. Buy the game on sale. I mean, it's still the fast paced ARPG with better graphics eye candy out there. What I like about Wolcen is how the skills feel epic and can kill bunch of enemies like a human stomped ants. The contact feel certainly there. The summon skill could be better though in my opinion. I am not sure automatic summon like that give Summoner player satisfaction but hey I guess different stroke for different folk. The melee feels in the game still one of the best you can experience (yes, even compare to Grim Dawn) if it wasn't for sometimes lagging. As far as bugs, I've been lucky that I never experience any significant bugs. But I came to conclusion that if I want to play Wolcen I might have to deal with the occassional lagging even when the setting is medium (not high). Get it on sale. It is worth getting on sale !
I find LE has some of the best melee combat but I have yet to dip into wolcen. However based on your feeling that it’s the best, very cool! Might have to make the plunge
I like this game its a nice back up game when done with diablo for the day but honestly I haven't even been able to play it I have bad fps in this game rx 6650xt and ryzen 7 3700x and it runs like crap reinstalling after months to see if it's improved at all
I've still not been able to beat the game due to bugs. At first I couldn't kill the final boss because he'd glitch out every time and then it just kept crashing in the first town. Really don't understand why the game is so buggy. It's great when I can play it...
I think the combat can be unresponsive no matter if you play on or offline. It is more about which skills you're using than anything else, in my experience
they have the same issue as star citizen all the bugs are related to nice but also crap game engine every patch either fixes it or it brings back old bugs that were fixed
You know me, I was a Wolcen fan and didn't quite enjoy Last Epoch... Now is the contrary. The last patch on Wolcen made improvements yeh, but for me? Act 4 was a horrible way to do it. Putting you in the endgame but reaping apart the things that made enndgame fun to unlock (the enneract lab to duplicate skills to be more precise) and then you are stuck on the Ahriman thingie excuse of act 4 that threw me off a lot. I was very well prepared and very overpowered and because I got one-shoted because this is wolcen and obviously is the main thing here I have to do a lot of busy work just to make him come back, it's incredibly tedious and stupid at least for my point of view. Meanwhile I'm playing Last Epoch like no tomorrow, the 0.9 update made everything incredible, I'm really loving it so far.
I mean, it's meant to introduce players to the endgame system while wrapping up the story, it does that amazingly well. It l was annoying to you because you played the endgame a ton pre-patch, which is fair i guess, but it's meant to be your first introduction into the end game loop. If this was your first time playing it be fine.

This may be a bit of a hot take, and I might make a video about this once more, but I think currently I prefer Wolcen's endgame to that of Last Epoch. LE wins out on many other aspects these days. But endgame there is for me just too repetitive and boring. And, not shared account wide. Every new character has to go through all of that, it is insane
Damnit everyone time you put out another Wolcen video I download - and then there are many crashes. OBVIOUSLY Ziz and Thy have streamer preference :P I kid - but honestly this game has been beyond buggy for me. I have a fairly decent machine RTX 4090 blah blah blah - so not sure it's a physical issue. I really enjoyed this game when it did work - but the dupes and crashes are just too much. I suppose I'll try again next big patch.
The devs have been at work patching since it the launch of endgame. And more patches are coming up, with even a bugfix roadmap. It seems at least they know. I'll keep you posted on that, I'm looking forward to it myself ;)
After the Diablo 4 beta I bought this game on the xbox. Haven't played wolcen before even though I knew about its existence on pc but haven't got a good enough pc. At the moment it's really scratching that arpg itch and feels like a perfect balance between Diablo 3 and Poe whith the first one being too simplistic and the latter one too complicated for my taste. However it certainly can use some patches. Sometimes the spell vfx disappears, cluncky menu navigation etc. Nothing gamebreaking but just very unpolished at times. I feel like they rushed this out before Diablo 4 will be released in June just too get some buyers. And while I don't regret my purchase even one bit it could be even so much better

they broke the 2nd skill duplication. amazing that they manage to break core systems after all those years.
How? Works fine for me. You need 20k primordial essence though, and I think a level 40 already duplicated skill

I also noticed a lot of the graphical glitches on my steam deck are gone now, that makes it a cool arpg to play on hendheld!

The negative reviews of wolcen are mainly very old. The game has issues, I'm not saying it is perfect, but for 7 quid it is definitely worth it
Giving this a try after being fed up with PoE's direction the last few leagues. Installing on PS5 right now!

Ahriman fight is brutal. As far as bugs that makes you lose progress that did not happen to me. I guess I got lucky.

It is usually not a game causing a blue screen though, but your PC itself. Maybe turn down some settings, I don't know, it might be your GPU.

Strange, performance was never an issue for me with a 2080
i got the game from steam sale... it looks nice gameplay is fun but in 2 hours of playing i seen interface bugs...and 2 crashes...

For some people the bugs are really bad. The devs said they would update a roadmap soon with bug fixing patches, so let's see what's in there.

Haha, star citizen?. Not too sure about that to be honest, but ye, new patches habe a tendency to be bugged, which then gets fixed over time again.

I feel like they rushed this out before Diablo 4 will be released in June just too get some buyers. And while I don't regret my purchase even one bit it could be even so much better

Game is fun but it will die on the 6th
It'll be just as dead or alive as it is today. I think people will keep returning to this over time. It is still good, after all.
