Another NICE video Stevo and Jas, Awesome fish on the surfcasters and Kontiki, yep the recurve hooks are much better when hooking onto a fish, beats having to strike. We have been catching some good fish on the Kontiki but Our water temp is now at 15° so looks like the Snappers will be moving north. We have already caught a few spinys and red cod so haven't got long until snaps are gone for the season:(

Cheers L T F - was a fun day and yea starting to use the recurves a bit more when setting the tiki, saves me running to the rod every time I get a bite :-) - nice you've been getting a few good fish, do you ever try on a nice sunny winters day for Snaps or you do but just get the spinys and cod? Def never there? How far North do you need to go to chance a few?

@@Reel-Kiwi-Fishing we only like to fish on the change of lights, don't seem to catch much during the day. We would have to go a fair bit north to chase them north sure how far. But will give it another shot in the next couple of days and see if some Snaps are still there. Muriwai looks like an awesome beach to fish at and an awesome surfcasting beach, we might make a trip up there one day. I have looked at the surf for Muriwai beach and it has some pretty big swells and waves so will have to pick a day as we only have a standard seahorse 46thrust not GPS. Just one question how bad are the currents?

@@Liam-se2ok Yea the change of light is the best go unless you can get into some deeper water for a day drop - Karioitahi is South of Muriwai which is just as good if not better, lots more bigger fish come out of there and would think a better trip to do? For the West coast up here you want to try and get it when there is a smaller tide, around a mtr and preferably off shore winds or light on shores are ok.
Being West coast you hardly ever have it flat and 99% of the time you get a Northerly drift sometimes quite bad but try and get those conditions mentioned helps.

@@Reel-Kiwi-Fishing Cheers for that man, here on the lower west coast it can get pretty rough we get up to 4 metre waves onshore and sometimes it can be flat as with no swell and a wave height 0.2 metre, but that why they call it the wild west coast lol.

Bro. The undertow is not safe for kids. Muriwai can be dangerous as. Good vid though. Just maybe mention the dangers aswell
