    I have the OG Groove belt. Hands down the best belt I’ve ever owned. Tried them all Kore, 5, 5.11, Wilderness etc. I’m a big back dude and it keeps my pants up all day while being comfortable

    I've got 3 OGs in different colors (first one purchased at least 2yrs ago), and most recently got an Ultra Slim(?). I've had no issues with them, they're great and show no signs of wear. As far as sizing goes, they come in several lengths so you just need to pick the one with the range that covers your waist size and you shouldn't have to do any trimming.
    I think I'll pick up one of these Ultras too. Oh and Groove products come with a 94 year unconditional(?) warranty too so you can't beat that!

    • @Gear_43
      @Gear_43  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes, the warranty is awesome! Yeah, I had gotten a unit where I wasn't able to choose the size (that they sent to people like me before the launch). So yes! You can definitely choose the size closest to you.

    tbh I wish they had a rigid version... a hybrid colab with Kore Essentials to make the best duty/ EDC belt. It would have the stiffness and ratcheting system with the quick release magnetic clasp of the GL Ultra.

      I was thinking the same thing, i have 2 of these and they make great IWB belts. However, a gun belt would be something i'd like to try.

    I never even knew that you were supposed to trim this belt. I've been wearing the original every day for 2 years straight, and have never noticed the excess because it tucks inside. Also, it's never failed in that time. Oh, and I go through metal detector a good bit and never had it go off, although my experience is at a court house, not an airport. Hope this helps.

    100% TSA compliant. Its one of the reasons they made this version. Ive got both the original and this belt and use this belt for travel. No issues in multiple airports.

      @cesaralvarez3036 19 дней назад

      Keep in mind the big machine you step into is not a medal detector, obviously metal does stand out more. it detects everything, bulky belts, bulky clothing, jewelry, etc. even if you are sweaty it’ll set off the machine in the area you are sweating the most. so for it to not give you issues that does mean its a great design. Its a sleek design so it should not give issues going through the machine 👏🏼

    • @IamDaveID
      @IamDaveID 18 дней назад

      @@cesaralvarez3036 I travel TSA precheck so the metal detector is what I walk through. Either way it works for both. It's also one of the reasons why they made the buckle the way they did and list travel, with a picture of an airplane, on the website.

    There is no point in trimming the excess trimming. People weight changes all the time. I keep the excess on my belt in case I gain weight or lose weight up and down during the years.

    • @Gear_43
      @Gear_43  4 месяца назад

      Totally agree on the weight adjustment, I'm one of those people! However, the excess was... excessive, and wrapped all the way to middle of my back with this one. You definitely should leave some extra when trimming it, I left around six inches, buy might recommend eight to be safe.

      Hey! Yes, I was able to use it for 4-5 days before creating the video. I will likely do an update to this video at some point if my opinions change over time. I generally do my best to do longer-term videos, but wanted to get this out before launch, so people have at least some real-world testing advice before they make the purchase.
      As for pricing, you can check out their up-to-date pricing on their website here (Paid Link): sovrn.co/70vdg0e
      The Groove Belt Ultra is less expensive than the original version, and I unfortunately can't speak to your last point.

    • @titobandito8474
      @titobandito8474 4 месяца назад

      Just got my ultra version today - disappointed.
      It's smaller (webbing is more narrow) than the original Groove belt. I'm guessing it is more in line with the "low profile" version of the original version. While I don't have the low profile ones to compare with, I do have two of the O.G. versions that I generally like quite a bit. The O.G version is 1.5" wide and this new ultra one is 1.25" wide. For me, the Groove belts are meant to be for EDC setups as they really aren't fancy enough to be wearing with a suit, so the 1.5" size was where this type of belt makes the most sense. Losing that 1/4" pretty much makes this useless for CCW, even with micro or subcompacts. Sure, you can do it, but is it a good idea? Not only that, but the narrowness not only leaves room on standard DCC clips, but also leaves room within belt loops that make the belt slide up and down and I move around. This is with some trial on different pants like jeans and more tactical options (think cargo, or something like 511's). If the belt can't even stay in place on my waist with no load on it, how can I rely on it to hold a CCW reliably, or even be comfortable?
      The belt buckle feels really cheap compared to the original as well. It's polymer and very thin to boot - my guess is it is going to be scratched to hell in no time since there is no finish on it and the polymer is very thin. The locking bar serves no purpose that I can find - other than to make it harder to adjust than it needs to be. It's probably there just to relieve stress on the buckle itself since the polymer is so thin. The OG belts didn't need the locking bar and never have had an issue with the original loosening up, despite it not having a locking bar. I actually am finding it easier to adjust the OG belt easier when I do need to let a little bit in or out to accommodate different pants and/or holsters.
      I can't figure out why this one is advertised as being washable compared to the OG belts not being washable either. The webbing looks and feels like the exact same material - if anything, it might be slightly thinner as it seems a tad bit bendier than the OGs too. I would guess it's simply a marketing gimmick because the lighter polymer is less of a risk to marring up your washing machine. That, and they have put a smaller magnet inside the polymer on the Ultra. The OG ones have exposed magnets and heavier duty metal buckles.
      I'd like to say that I do like Groove Life OG belts. I find them comfortable, they work pretty darn well as an EDC option, especially if that includes a smaller sized CCW to compliment with it. The OG 1.5" width has never been a problem with any of my jeans, EDC pants or even slacks. And with their nicer buckles that have a solid finish and metal, they have a more premium look that can dress up, but still plenty usable for blue collar work, casual attire, casual business attire and can even manage being pulled off with some more formal wear.
      But...
      Even though the new ultra belt is about $25 less than the OG's and I'm a sucker for a deal, this is not comparable to the OGs in any way and not worth $40. Should be $25 at most. I wish there was better feedback from real people who aren't just looking to get some channel traffic and free gear to talk about. I hope my feedback is helpful to others who might be considering this for an EDC built. It's certainly not bad, but I don't really understand the market they're going for here and why it has an "ultra" in the name. The only thing I am is ultra disappointed in spending $40 on something that won't even be able to hold up a micro P365.

      Thanks for your added input, and your thoughts on the belt! I definitely did my best to add to the conversation where I could with the limited time I had with the belt. I wanted to make sure there was at least SOME feedback on this belt other than promotional material on the web when the belt launched. Feel free to check out my other videos, you'll find I normally spend an extended period with each product before giving my thoughts, and likely will do a follow up video of this one once I've spent more time with it as well.

    You should remove that crap about trimming/melting the excess, I think your scenario isn’t typical for what a paid customer will experience. They probably sent you a complimentary unit which happened to be a size or two too big and that’s why you had to cut/burn it. When ordering, you specify waist size for the belt, which gets your paid product to a reasonable length.
