Your analysis missed a VERY IMPORTANT POINT ON PAK-AFGHAN TALIBAN RELATIONS: Pakistan's mistreatment of tens of thousands of Pashtuns over the years, calling them names, killing, jailing, beating up Pashtun youth etc. caused a lot of anger. The Durand Line issue was always there, but the Taliban, unlike the previous Afghan government, are not run from Washington, so they are doing whatever they need to do.
