  • **WARNING** Extremely apatheic and mediocre bicycle riding to follow.
Cory Wallace and I preride what he said was going to to be most technical part of 2023 BCBR - Upper and Lower Maple Syrup Trails on Maple Mountain in North Cowichan, British Columbia. Unfortunately, we already ridden some that day and I was very tired and not really down to clown, so it was fairly slow and awkward, but I agree that it was pretty important for me to see this stuff before "racing" it. I tend to squeeze my brakes too hard when I am scared sometimes, causing crashes, so it is nice to know that most of these blind rolls are indeed rollable. I also learned, when in doubt, stay left. Except for some of the time. Those times, stay right. Or in the middle. Or just fall over and blame something other than your own inability to ride a bicycle with any proficiency WHATSOEVER.

Riding the trails last weekend, haven't been on the mt bike in 8 months. Missed getting up and over a small bump on a climb, came to a stop, and fell off balance downhill off the trail. As the bike hit the ground, the Garmin beeped. Thinking it had triggered the crash warning, I struggled to turn uphill and look at it. Nope, its message? "Nice jump!"

Great balance and power. Most of us would have put a foot down and or stopped on at least 90 percent of that and you just pedaled over and through it all. Outstanding. Impressive how you're able to power up all those short but very steep hills and rocks.

I love Mtn. biking but it's so expensive and time consuming to keep a bike working well. So far I've broken 3 frames here in Colorado.

It would be interesting to see what setup you have on your bike.

Could you please sweat a little less? It's obscuring the camera 😅 - thanks for the pre-ride video. Looking forward to it on Wednesday!
