I hate components. I level up and i didn't notice i needed a ruby to make a wall of force or something, and now i have to scrap my whole turn, scratch my head... And cast fireball. Again.
That's irritating indeed. I tend to house rule you have components unless they're something over 100gp, and even then if you're of a high level it's generally overlooked
In my setting, sure you can find the components listed in the books, butr you can also get Spell Powder, as in crushed dragon scales or dragon egg shells, and just note how much gold you have in Powder, and done. or if you dont want to spend the gold, you can just find the spell components for specific spells, thats either a Religion, Nature or Arcana check, for every 5 you pass on the roll, you get components for 1 casting.
