Just feeding the fire, giving Lil Nas publicity. But mostly it's revealing the overlap of racism and homophobia. Because there have been far worse subversion of Christian Imagery by white artists like Panic at the Disco. Panic also had a similar devil thing, and also is a LGBT artist but no one said anything. It's a totally manufactured controversy.
I find it ridiculous but I come from Sweden which is pretty secular and the churches over here have in my experience been totally fine with LGBTQ+ people.

The problem with American Conservative Christians is that they take things way too literally and have this voting and lobbying bloc which was started as a response to the IRS going after religious schools that still practiced segregation.
The Christian leaders over here can be just as bad in terms of rhetoric, but they have one redeeming quality, they don't run for office as it is kind of an unwritten rule among them.
