Before I got my FLH I rode an XLCH sportster with a magneto. In cold weather I would leave a metal caged drop light on all night resting between the cylinders. It seemed to help- but this was in the days before red dot thermometers 🙂 I would be curious to see how an immersive type of heater compares with the set up used in this video. My hunch is that the immersive one would be more efficient.

For a similar cost to the pair of heaters here you could get a truck block heater that should fit in the oil tank hole. They use about 1000w vs the 175w here but I would be more concerned about peak temp especially if you forgot about it. I'll probably get one if there is enough interest.

Will never ever forget the joy of kick starting my brand new '67 CH on a 40 degree morning to get t to work. Was stripped down to a "T" shirt by the time I got it fired up.
Then there was the added thrill when the kicker fell through with no resistance. Sportster knee and bruised inner thigh from the shock.
Oh, the good ol' days !?

Thanks...I did a 2nd video at 40 degree and had great results too. I may even try in the 20s tonight for those days where the morning is super cold but its due to warm up. I think most people don't ride when there could be ice.
