I can tell you for a fact, that when my blood pressure is 120/80 or lower. I cannot even function. I’m dizzy I can’t stand up and get a bad headache. But when my blood pressure is higher than 120/80 I am fine. I believe blood pressure is individualistic. Yes I believe they lowered the number to sell more drugs.

My last reading was 128/81. When I go lower, then I get dizzy also. I take meds but sometimes miss taking some days and yet my BP is always around the same. 🤷‍♀️I am 64. Years ago, they said BP was good at 140/90, then changed to 130/ 90, now 120/80. Pretty confused now.

I am sick to death on the medical industry constantly changing guidelines. Who the hell do they think they are anyways. I have had a consistent steady blood pressure of approx. 130/65 for 20 years and no medication. I am an avid healthy gym rat. So I visited my doctor recently for annual physical. Nurse takes reading of 132/77. Doctor walks in, takes a reading of 147/78. He immediately said that he wants me on blood pressure medication using Losartan 100 mgs!!!!!!!!! Of course I argued up and down with him and he got very annoyed and told me he was "always right." I went home, took my reading and it was 128/70. Went to the gym, same reading. I filled the script anyways, tried it, turned me into a "zombie." I informed him that I am not taking it again. He insists I have high blood pressure. Sorry, but the medical field leaves a very nasty taste in my mouth.

What happens is you get hooked on BP meds and your body stops naturally regulating its BP. This goes on for years, even decades. Then one day you forget to take your BP meds, you wake up and BP spikes and you have a stroke.
      STAY AWAY FROM BP MEDS!!

I concur, sir. When I retired, after about 6 months, my BP went to "normal", I lost over 30 lbs without changing any other thing and I've not had a migraine ever since. My job was pretty high stress, and as a veteran of 26 years, I feared retirement. Forced to retire for medical reasons and once I was able to adapt to calmness and little stress, the benefits above were just the beginning of a return to better health. A low-carb/intermittent fasting eating style only made things better. Do what works for you, but be careful of any supplements. Some ingredients can be harmful over time. Cheers from Alberta, Canada.

I'm 72 and had consistent BP readings around 140-145/70-75. At 6 feet I went from 211 lbs. to 180 lbs. doing intermittent fasting and a regular exercise program. That brought my BP down a bit, but I was still higher than I should be. For the last year I've been taking 1/2 teaspoon of "NoSalt" (potassium chloride) with each of my two meals a day. "NoSalt" has 1280 mgs. of potassium per 1/2 teaspoon. My BP is now averaging around 100-120/60-65. Potassium Chloride is not great tasting, but I use a couple of tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil to mitigate the taste. THE KEY TO LOWERING BP IS POTASSIUM. Vitamin D3 and Magnesium are also important and I take those daily via Magnesium Citrate capsules and D3 gel pills.

I also read - have not started but am buying - both Nattokinase (an enzyme from Natto a Jap fermented beans that breaks clots), and Vitamin B3 Niacin is a vasodilator and lowers triglycerides (but watch out for the blood flush, but that goes away once body adapts). The no-flush or slow release B3 doesn't work for blood pressure not triglycerides.

Based on my observations over many years, i think that every person possesses their “normal” range. I don’t think that a given range can be considered as a universal standard for everyone! For example, I have observed some people have what most would call relatively high blood pressure yet these people lived quite well into their 90s! And some had what was considered low blood pressure and many of them died in their 60s! The relationship between blood pressure & overall longevity is a much more complicated relationship than one would suspect in my opinion.

Sure - but there is missing data on those people who lived in their 90s, I would like to see their blood test results - what would seem like a high normal range for some people might be too high for others. If you have kidney disease, depending on the stage and whether you have protein in urine or not, your albumin:creatinine ratio, and other factors, diabetes, cholesterol, etc, your range would need to be lower to avoid accelerated declines in renal function. Long term having pressure too high can damage kidneys and decline function, and it's common to see different stages of CKD in people who have lived many years with uncontrolled BP, or were taking BP meds and bringing their very high BP down to the 140/90 range, which is still too high if you have kidney disease and/or diabetes.

  • @axelfoley20
    @axelfoley20 3 года назад +134

Blood pressure is an adaptive process so there really is no such thing as hypertension. If your blood pressure is high, it's because your body is attempting to adapt to a change. If your blood isn't healthy, the body is smart and will increase pressure so your organs do not get injured from lack of blood supply. So doctors should not be prescribing drugs, they should be trying to see what the problem is. Consuming seed oils / vegetable oils/margarine is very inflammatory and will cause your blood pressure to go up and cholesterol to go up because the body needs to fix itself from the inflammation.

It sends cholesterol to fix problems and there is also no such thing as bad cholesterol either. Basically doctors do not really know what they are doing, they are just drug pushers and people who do take blood pressure drugs and cholesterol drugs end up dying earlier and/or having strokes more than those who have high blood pressure/cholesterol and take no drugs. Dr. Bergman explains this very well and he's easy to find on you tube. Do a search to learn more but in the meantime, get off the drugs! All you're doing is harming your body and making huge profits for these criminals.

The blood pressure changes every other moment. If you just move your arms a bit or speak, or think about something negative, it can easily change by + 10 to 20 sys. You need to measure every time under completely identical conditions. Most important is not walking before, and always measure around the same time each day, at rest.
The best would be every day right after waking up for getting a baseline, and before going to bed, because many get higher pressure at night.

Do they see me doing my housework, laundry, grocery shopping and loading and unloading groceries into my car, up the elevator, down the long hallway to my apartment, car gas fillup and upkeep? Of course I walk and quite a bit. Seems like such a stupid question to me. Do I walk around a crime filled neighborhood for fun and exercise? I’m a runner with my own blood pressure tester at home. I have taken bp every day for at least the last 20 years. It’s interesting to see what it does with my short and long runs and short and long breaks in running. After a long run it can be 95/65 and a 60 morning heart rate.
When I took my blood pressure with no exercise before a doctors visit it can be 130/75. With a long run it drops. The sustained pressure on arteries from distance running lowers the blood pressure for a day or so.

The last time I went for a check up, the MA rested my arm with my lower arm tilted significantly upwards. Of course my reading was very high. I had it done at another clinic and the clinician wrapped the cuff way too tight , so that the pressure was excruciating. It felt like my arm was broken. Of course the reading was way too high. Pain will raise blood pressure. Both times I tried to say something but who am I? A lowly patient and they are the “ trained” professionals, right? Now I am in a program where I take it at home with a bp device my clinician suggested and it’s so much better. When it reads higher I know it’s because I’ve had too much sodium that day and the next day it’s much lower. Trust yourself. If you’re doing it right and doing it at regular times, you will have an accurate reading.

Im sorry, but this is all B.S! Ive been an ER nurse for 30 years. You CANNOT lump everyone into a one-size-fits-all category. When I started out bp recommendations were diastolic 90 or below and systolic (which fluctuates more with emotions and activity) was your age+100 for men and age+90 for women.
With the new standards, we now routinely see folks who stand up and pass out because their bp is too low, or folks who have more cognitive or renal issues from poor profusion due to chronically low bp.
The Mayo Clinic did an independent study in 2013/14 that found that no one actually benefits from a bp lower than 159/90, so anything at that level or below was a healthy bp.
Watch who promotes these new bp standards....90% of the time it's a pharmaceutical company wanting to push their drug$, or a medical a$$ociation wanting you to be dependent on them.
As bad as I hate to say it, medicine is nothing but a PROFIT DRIVEN business these days. Everything changed ( for the worse) when the government got involved with reimbursement back in 1989.

Ninety percent of people who have high blood pressure have what is called primary hypertension. This means that no cause can be identified. You should have your BP evaluated by a physician who specializes in high blood pressure management. They can determine if you have primary hypertension or secondary hypertension. Patients with secondary hypertension have an identifiable cause and this can often (not always) be corrected with specific treatments. Common causes of secondary hypertension are sleep apnea, certain kidney diseases, adrenal diseases, and some drugs. Primary hypertension should be treated with diet, exercise (weight loss) and/or medications.

Hi, Check your diat first, the food we eat can cause your BP to go up.Intermittent Fasting will help, also don't eat bread sugar, Pasta rice and drink alcohol.Dr Eric Bergman and Dr Eckberg have good videos Re BP RUclips.
There are also breathing and other techniques .
We also should watch our weight. The body also needs vitamins and mineral supplements.Such as Magnesium citrate,Vitamin D3 , vitamin K2 MK7 which is our transporter, prevents calcium entering our arteries and kidneys.
Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 MK7 onld take it in liquid form ,as it's not fat soluble.
Vitamin K2 MK7, take up too 200mcg, IE 5000 vitamin D3 is good, with vitamin K2 MK7 200mcg . To make Vitamin D3 work properly, you would have to take all 4 . Vitamin D3 doesn't work without magnesium and magnesium doesn't work without vitamin C.

I remember this from school. They changed the recommended ranges and suddenly I have borderline high BP. Decades later, because of a very unfortunate series of events, I was hospitalized for high BP. I take a very low dose of metro now and it helps a lot. And even more, controlling sodium intake. You will probably be amazed at how much sodium is in processed foods. Take a look at the labels! Two cups of beans or soup and you are maxed out! Or ten slices of some bread. I make my own bread and buy no salt added (not low salt) now, and add a measured amount of salt for flavor to keep it reasonable. You do get used to the difference. Now regular canned corn tastes like corn with a burning ton of salt on it. It really helps.

But REAL health problems are not due to a deficiency of pharmaceutical products in the blood stream. I am a 58-year-old male and have had the same blood pressure since I was 26 years old, 120/80. I get checked twice per month; my heart rate has always been 50 beats per minute. I have always exercised moderately with periods of 1 month at a time without regular exercise. I haven't had a cold or flu since the year 2000, it doesn't matter if everyone around me is sick, I still do not catch the bug.
I am mainly meat based (head to toe) with the occasional mistake of eating selective veggies, can't help that because I do like them once in a while; maybe once every couple of weeks I will eat some boiled potatoes or a mushroom sauce. I do use garlic, ginger and onion once in a while for medicinal purposes and also use cayenne pepper to regulate or keep a steady blood pressure. I stay away from sugar, fruit and processed foods. I only use beef tallow, pork shortening, Ghee (made with real butter) or grass-fed butter for cooking. I never put into my body any kind of seed oils, meaning corn, sunflower, vegetable, palm oil etc.
I do not take nor have I ever taken any medication as I believe your food is your medication.
Overall, it is an extremely effective way of keeping healthy. I do not spend any money on medication, nor do I spend any money on condiments at the grocery store. No sauces, such as ketchup, salad dressings, mustards etc. No grains or cereals. I shop only the meat and dairy section of a market once in a while, never venturing into those middle isles. Why I only venture into the markets once in a while is because I usually source my meat from local farmers in my region, I will buy a cow half, a full sheep or side of pork and some fowl; the meat is generally free range.
My grocery costs are very low due to this way of eating and I do not have to have my foods imported or transported from around the world or country keeping the environmental impact low. I find it hypocritical from those vegans or vegetarians who don't educate themselves on the vast number of lives that are taken to produce the foods they eat, let alone the impact of transporting foods from around the globe.
In saying that, I believe it is just another ploy from the Pharma companies to sell more medication, period. This update on blood pressure range should be taken with a grain of salt, as it were.

I think it's pretty pathetic that they keep lowering the numbers, there are 1.3 million more people on BP meds now because of it, alot of kids!!! It is ridiculous to have the numbers that low.. My cardiologist does not worry about my blood pressure unless it gets to 140/90 and stays there, it has been as high as 170/98 in his office and he just says that it is doing what it is supposed to do, we have peaks and valleys all day long with our blood pressure.. As long as it is going back down, he says no worries.. BUT if it stay at 140/90 for like a week or so, he will increase my meds.. He also said that if it gets too low it can cause problems also like heart failure and stroke.. If your bottom number gets too low, it can be just as bad as high blood pressure.. Hope everyone has a beautiful day..

There is a reason classifications are changing in every few decades. Few years ago even 140/90 would be called pre hypertension but now that category doesn't exist. It is all because of unhealthy life style changes, more pollution, more sedentary life style and junk that we eat. The risk factors have considerably went up in the last one decade leading to more heart problems. the result of the studies eventually change and doctors bring down the levels of treatment to decrease the probability of death.
