My sewing room was like that for years. As I got older I realized that I needed to get a handle on things. I wasn't going to use most of the things in there, and I did not want my children to deal with that after I was gone. So I gave a lot of my things away to the thrift shops, which wasn't easy for me emotionally. Then I cleaned and organized what was left. It changed my life. 😂 I had a hard time parting with my fabrics, but I kept my favorites. I also have so many books! But books are my absolute favorite, so I try to be better organized with those. I just need more bookshelves. 😁
Oh I empathize, if you can believe it mine is currently worse. I have got to the point I open the door throw things in and run. Woman we need to get organized……….i will if you will 😮

I loved your sewing room tour! My craft room is in a terrible mess at the moment… I was just trying to decide if I could be totally honest with everyone and show it in a podcast sometime…!!! So maybe… 😂
I am 69 year old, this might sound drastic to you but this is what I did. I had my crafts in a good sized bedroom full of stuff , I was overwhelmed and I decided to move into a smaller bedroom. I painted the room, decorated it with furniture and things I already had and loved and brought my sewing machine in and started sewing. I got used to how it felt to have some open space. I brought in some storage systems and baskets empty. Every morning I brought three bins labeled treasures, maybe and let go into my old hoarded room and one item at a time it went into one of the bins or trash. After about a half hour I took the donate stuff out to a box in my car and moved my treasures into my new, clean room. I did this every day for a half hour or hour and then would go play in my new room. I started to enjoy my clean room so much that as I went along I was donated more and putting less in my maybe bin. Some things that helped me was to make piles and baskets of like item because when you see how much you have of things it's easier to get rid of. I found 17 unfinished projects and found some I didn't like any more and tossed. I found some that were almost done and took them to my clean room and finished them. I was left with 6 so I bought 6 flat plastic baskets at the Dollar store, placed each project in one, stacked them up in my craft room. Doing it this way took me three months but was worth it. I realized later it was because just finding stuff to throw out is negative, but sorting your stuff this way and trying to find the things you love is positive. I am enjoying my crafting so much more now, am way more productive and have kept it up I eventually finished all my projects but whenever I start a new one it goes into a basket and when all six are full I have wait. I was left with 6 maybe bins and once a week I bring one into my room and look through it, but I keep little because it is full now. This process caused me to think about how and why I did things and I do not bring many things home now. From one kindred spirit to another . "Yard by yard life is hard. Inch by inch it's a cinch" was my motto.
@@poodlegirl55 well bless your heart for your story.I have just donated some of it and I intend to move along things that do not belong in there. It is getting better, I will do a bit at a time in my own pace and enjoy the outcome.Thankyou once again.xxxx🐝🐝🐝🐝

Once you start, it's addictive. I thought we couldn't downsize, but it was a relief once it started to go.

I do like to see a real life house. It looks much like my other bedroom. I keep boxes of thing's in there, and other bits and bobs.
