The leadership of Hamas have REPEATEDLY stated (and their revised charter states this from 2017), that they would be willing to accept a 2 state solution based on the 1967 borders if the Palestinian people are happy with the choice. I really like Husam but he should defend the Palestinian right to armed struggle more and recognise Hamas's true position. They are not just a "group or militia". They won elections for goodness sake in 2006 because of their well known social programme and because people were fed up of Fatahs corruption!

Saying that Husam Zomlot was born in a refugee camp in Palestine is inaccurate… they are concentration/internment camps - refugee camps are places displaced people from another country stay. You say, quite rightly, that Israel has the right to defend itself….but how, at the same time, can that right be denied Palestinians, or any nation for that matter?! Palestinians, who under international law, also have the right to resist an occupation. ‘The catalyst for what we have seen’ in the past year was actually the quick/slow/quick ethnic cleansing that the Palestinians have had to endure for 75 years. Israel’s long game appears to be the erasure of Palestine and its indigenous people. A tragically familiar colonial story. You seem to suggest that Israel had a dilemma when they perceived a terrorist organisation living amongst the population in Gaza and you seem perplexed by that dilemma. You mention (out of context) ‘The Troubles’ in Northern Ireland. Can you imagine the outcry if the British government had dealt with the presence of the IRA by killing all the surrounding civilians?! Sinn Fein, the political wing of the IRA, is now a major political entity in Northern Ireland. It shows some arrogance when you can’t even remember a significant Irish name in the peace process! To achieve peace in 1922, after years of violent British occupation, the Irish had to relinquish 16% of their land - maybe some would see this as a reasonable loss to have peace. Palestine is clinging to an ever diminishing 22% and that is almost uninhabitable, strewn as it is with US labelled spent munitions. Why would the political wing of Hamas be any different to Sinn Fein in a free Palestine? And what of the occupied West Bank? What can be the justification for killing Palestinian civilians there, when an occupier (Israel) has a legal duty to protect the occupied people? You claim to have the gift of empathy, if you were in an open air prison how would you spend a windfall? You think it has ‘gone way too far in Gaza’ You think?! You say you don’t know what the Palestinians should do , but you imply that violent resistance is not an option, especially butchering thousands of people…Are you really suggesting that only Isreal has the right to butcher thousands of people? I think it’s the opposite. If they don’t include or welcome Khamas’ participation, it’ll bring down the whole thing & ruin the chances of creating a proper govt for the new state of Palestine. When Marwan says that Khamas is part of the Palestinian society in Gaza, he means that they are supported by at least a good portion of the population. So you can’t completely disenfranchise those people and expect it to be democratic. That’s not how you create a democracy.

And then the next verse 41 says that after victory the healthy society is established.
