Wow... so Edelgard doesn't get full agency of her ending, Rhea gets mistreated for no reason, and Claude just decides to be a dick, all so that Dimitri can be the only one looking in any way decent?
Rhea was always against Those who slither and sough to protect everyone. Edelgard made an enemy out of Rhea, not the other way around, and Rhea was willing to support reform throughout the land when leaders who chose to do so did. Rheas wish is to protect everyone. You have to intentionally break her mentally for her to go mad and become an enemy of everyone.
@@BlackfangDragon Theres a lot of nuance to the story. You're looking only at the outer layer she presents, which is indeed benevolent. At the same time, Rhea is an all powerful ruler of Fodlan that won't tolerate dissent in any way, and is generally cruel and not above deploying excessive force to quell any such voices. Three houses goes out of their way to make sure you don't miss that about her when you have to put down Lonato's rebellion. Not to mention her apathy towards basically everyone since she doesn't really care about the sacrifices made along the way. She has the whole guise as the archbishop and all, but when push comes to shove she'll snap at any moment. For instance, if you choose to protect Edelgard in her route at the tomb, you immediately have no room for discussion. Even if you just want to protect your student, that one action immediately shifts Byleth from Rhea's 2nd favorite person ever to one of her most hated. Even Claude snaps at her in his route because she just keeps clinging onto valuable information that everyone critically needs. For a small tactical advantage in CF, she isn't even above burning an entire capital to the ground, citizens and all. All in all, Rhea was against TWSID, but regardless of the outer facade she presents, shes not exactly on the side of humans either. Shes basically given up and is just doing the minimum she needs to hold Fodlan together, because she just expects Sothis to return one day and fix everything. Literally. While she has somewhat respectable intentions on the surface, shes extremely difficult to trust, something which Rhea has brought upon herself. And despite being this all powerful dictator, Rhea was incompetent enough to have no clue of and made no interventions in Adrestia as TWSID freely tore the royal family apart and seized control. From Edelgard's perspective, Rhea is absolutely an enemy, and not one she could have safely just confided everything about TWSID to. Or even had any assurance that Rhea would even do anything about it. Just to be clear, I'm not one sidedly hating on Rhea here or anything. Shes got her own issues to deal with that lead her to act this way. Still, shes not the picture of grace under fire, and its hard to fault other characters like Edelgard, Claude and even Jeralt from hating or at least being distrustful of her.
I find it funny how Edelgard wasn't able to beat Thales or Rhea- they defeated each other. Also, isnt it weird that Edelgard's route only leaves war and bloodshed its wake?
@@jkarma3356 I keep hearing people saying theres a 4th "true ending" if you do the other endings and recruit Byleth, but frankly, I've seen no evidence of any such thing anywhere and don't have my own copy of the game yet. I love the final bosses of the other routes: * Dimitri finally faces Thales, his father's murderer while also endings his rivalry with Edelgard, his rival, most personal enemy and the final boss of his route in Three Houses. * Claude gets rid of the Church trapping Fodlan into the past. The Church was built up as a villainous faction facing Claude in Three Houses and a youtuber already pointed out that Rhea should have been Claude's last foe. * Edelgard, despite her history with Thales and Rhea, is basically facing a mashup of the other lords final bosses instead of a more original foe. Sothis, Claude, Dimitri or Byleth would have been a better choice for the last enemy and this fight should have been the penultimate one.
The route ending I’ve seen that seems to have the most peace would be Azure Gleam, Dimitri’s route.
