Keddie Wye! About two and half hours from me. Formerly Western Pacific and now owned by Union Pacific. The North end of the wye connects with the former Great Northern railroad which was bought out by Burlington Northern, now Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF). They run north and south out of Keddie and UP runs east and west. BNSF runs what is called the Inside Gateway. The two former railroads (we call them Fallen Flags up here) met at Beiber, CA. (No relation to Justin) When BN merged with Santa Fe, BNSF took over the Inside Gateway to Klamath Falls, OR. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway_Subdivision Western Pacific used to run its famous California Zephyr through here, the Feather River canyon. Its passage through the Sierra Nevadas is lower than than the original Transcontinental crossing of Donner Pass about 70 miles or so south. Donner Pass is subject to very heavy snowfall in winter months necessitating the stationing of rotary plows in Roseville, CA and Sparks, NV. This route does get snow, just not as substantial as Donner.
Great video! Will there be any chance of you guys re running the N and A class and N type cars? I just started a model railway and would be interested in getting them only to find that they are out of stock!
Thankfully we don't (to my knowledge) have those irritating bullshit bells on our EMD locos. Remember when motor cars came onto the scene from the horse and cart............. Someone was required to walk in front of the car waving a flag FFS!!!. Well this loco bell BS should have been ditched (that seriously any deaf person could hear), at the same time that BS requirement for motor cars got the flick! Love everything else about the North American loco thing, but this one thing absolutely grinds my gears EVERY time! Just because steam engines had them........... seriously!
Pretty cool place for train watching...nice bridges too.
