I always see you on Rush reactions, Michael, but we occasionally get out on a day pass for other artists! I always read your contributions with interest as you seem to know your stuff! Rush on from here in Exeter, UK.
That bass line is so amazing and sets the tone as in Bowie’s ‘Ashes to Ashes’. And the musician list on this piece is quite a roster of virtuosos. Boys and Girls, Bête Noire and Mamouna are masterpieces from Brian Ferry as well as Roxy Music’s swansong Avalon.
Omg I love Brian Ferry. His solo albums are just brilliant. His albums with his group Roxy Music are also amazing. So much material but trust me it's well worth the journey of discovery.....Maybe checkout the track "Is Your Love Strong Enough" as it also features David Gilmore. It's from the 1980's movie soundtrack "Legend" which has a very young Tom Cruise in it. [ Good movie by the way ]
Check out Roxy Music one of the best art rock bands and Bryan was the lead singer. So many great songs but ‘In every dream home a heartache’ might be a good start. The band included Brian Eno , and guitarist Phil Manzanera who you may have heard of.
Bryan wrote about his heartbreak when cover model, Jerry Hall, left him for Mick Jagger (“Let’s Stay Together”). And the world enjoyed his pain (sorry 😢). He was also Roxy Music (glam art rock band). And did solo albums - torch songs! He’s a crooner. Love him. Don’t know this track. Thanks, Dave! Wow 🤪
Hello, I would like to see your reaction to the performances of Diana Ankudinova. Her amazing voice surprises everyone, she performed covers of the famous songs "Wicked Game", "Human", "Havana","Take on Me". She also has her own songs "Into the sky" (В небо), "Your Voice" (Голосом твоим), "Happiness" (Счастье).
...and there's always More Than This by Brian Ferry and Roxy Music. A really nice early ambient song. .probably their best. Give it a whirl and you will never regret it. Tony Dooley
Diana Ankudinova is a young performer who shocks us with her pleasant voice and takes us into the abyss of events!!! Diana Ankudinova is unique and inimitable, goosebumps from her voice! Diana sings as if she lives in the song! The soul freezes or opens with Diana's voice. I am a musician who has been with music for years, and believe me, I have not heard such a tone in all these past years.
I like art, prog, neo-prog, but when I heard *Diana* *Ankudinova* , I could not resist the voice and talent of this unique singer. She made me listen to pop music in her performance, which was previously out of my interests! I recommend that you draw your attention to Diana - she is able to surprise anyone!
You’ve picked one of the weakest songs in his entire oeuvre - and you loved it lol. Wait till you listen to early Roxy Music when Bryan Ferry was absolutely on fire.
Really? It's a really nice album, but too sleepy to be his best for me. I'd take the 1st Roxy album over anything else he's on. Then Siren, For Your Pleasure, and maybe then Avalon and Stranded. Nothing wrong with some upbeat/rock n' roll stuff, too.
@@kevinlakeman5043 I use imho because it's all subjective. Siren's 1975 'Love is a drug' might be their most recognized song but I wonder if Nic & Lex have heard it?
Bryan Ferry was the singer in Roxy Music, a magnificent band from the 70s and early 80s. You guys should definitely check out Roxy Music songs such as Both Ends Burning, Out of the Blue, More Than This, Do the Strand, Street Life, Editions of You, Love Is the Drug, All I Want Is You, Oh Yeah, Avalon, In Every Dream Home a Heartache, Amazona, While My Heart Is Still Beating, Re-Make/Re-Model, My Only Love, Angel Eyes, The Space Between, Dance Away, and so many more!
You should check out Bryan Ferry's Band ROXY MUSIC , 'Avalon' , 'The Space Between' , or 'The Main Thing' which was a b'side in the States and was There biggest hit over there ....??? Strange !!! ...??? Very Classy Band / Artist... indeed !!!
It always amuses (and shocks) me when Americans say they have never heard of Roxy Music or Bryan Ferry. I have been a Roxy fan since 14 (1972) and trust me if you spend a little time to look into their massive body of work (and Bryan Ferry's solo work) you will be shocked beyond belief; I would recommend 3 songs to review initially.....1. If there is something - 1st Roxy album 72 2. In every dream home a heartache - For Your Pleasure 1973; 3. Mother of Pearl - Stranded 1973. Trust me these three tracks alone will blow your mind. Thanks for the review of the Chosen One - a very unknown and undervalued song - trust me there are dozens more! Look forward to more reviews and to you discovering the wonder and brilliance of Roxy Music.
Some other must listen eighties bands if you don’t already know them would be Talk Talk, Talking Heads and Tears for Fears along with Simple Minds , Ultravox and the Cure. I am sure that you must know at least some of these bands as they were all pretty huge but given that you had not heard of Bryan Ferry I thought I would flag them up. If you are interested in some individual track steers just ask on the channel and I will happily chip in with some suggestions.
LOVE IT..CHECK OUT HIS SONG "TENDER IS THE NIGHT" ......LUV' YOU TWO..KENT IN OHIO {I LIVED IN EVERGREEN AND CONIFER COLORADO BACK IN EARLY AND MID 2000'S}
If you like Bryan Ferry, lead singer for Roxy Music, you'll love Phil Manzanera, who played guitar for Roxy Music. "Listen Now" a great song from his album 801.
This song has EVERYBODY playing on it: Andy Newmark--drums Marcus Miller--bass Nile Rodgers--acoustic rhythm guitar David Gilmour--electric guitar Any one of these guys being on here would amount to a star cameo.
Welcome to the art-class-rock from Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music. You have so many jewels to discover. Check the last Roxy Music album, "Avalon". Boys and girls contains lots of gorgeous class-art-rock, Bryan has such elegant and cool voice and the music is always top class, David Gilmour helped him on lots of his solo albums that had followed this one which was Bryan' sixth (of 16) solo albums.
Yes ... Brian was Roxy... We had no idea you were 80s fans. Jan Hammer .... Springs to mind. Here is your new morning tune..... Re-Flex ..... The Politics of Dancing.

Roxy Music and Ferry's solo career are perfect to have an idea of how the 70s turned into the 80s. If you want to react to more Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry, I would start with "Out of the blue" on the Roxy's "Country Life" LP. Have a nice journey in style!
This album is amazing, I don't know if this is the most impressive for a first listening. You should try some Roxy Music from the early 70's... Virginia Plain, Remake Remodel, Mother of pearl...
Bryan Ferry was a central member of the classic Art Rock band, Roxy Music. A quintessential Roxy Music track would be Out of the Blue: ruclips.net/video/Ltn-kcRAqI4/видео.html
Hi. As a few others have stated you should check out Roxy Music.Their appearance on British Chart Show Top of the Pops, link below, features their hit song "Virginia Plain". They were totally unique at that time and amazing that such things would appear in the Charts, wouldn't happen these days of course, in the era of Simon Cowell, (the Great Satan). ruclips.net/video/BonWfTW7jKc/видео.html
strange introduction to Bryan Ferry, with this song. Ferry was the founder and lead singer of Roxy Music, in the early 1970s. Very unique and ahead of the times through early 80s. First few albums with Brian Eno are classic, Virgiinia Plain, Do the Strand, If there was something, Mother of Pearl, More than this. Rock God

Bryan ferry lead singer of Roxy music, there are so many great songs out there...same old scene, Avalon, more than this, my only love, limbo, don't stop the dance, dance away
A rather odd choice for the first Ferry song. I'd go with something like "If There Is Something", "Song For Europe", "Ladytron", "Both Ends Burning", "Love Is the Drug", "Avalon", "Mother of Pearl", "In Every Dream House", maybe s/thing from Taxi.
