Wait.. dark side of the moon is a Pink Floyd album of progressive rock band, but which “dark side” are you talking about. Over a 28-29 day cycle the entire moon goes into and out of a dark side. It changes daily. Do you mean the side of the moon facing away from the earth? It’s not always dark. Half the time it’s light and a quarter it’s full light and the side facing earth is dark.

@@bluesteel8376I mean imagine if SpaceX / SuitX at that point would create crazy good work gear. Firefighters need breathing equipment and if they should somehow reduce the weight and size of the needed gear and make it easy to put on, that could save some lives. Let alone if the suit had supporting materials that could resist high temperatures so they can just run into the burning buildings, drop some exstinguishing materials on the needed spots, you know to create rescue cooridors. I think the biggest issue is when they need to wear breathing / gas masks against all the smoke. But with those helmets that should give them a great field of view. Maybe I'm just too hyped about those space suits tho but be honest, would be hella cool if firefighters had awesome gear to make rescues easier :D
@@VarmintLP Yes I love the idea of that. It has 2 downsides though; the spaceX suits need to be tethered. And they are also probably much more expensive and all custom made on the individual persons.
I think we really should stop referring to "the dark side of the moon" as this is a bit of a misnomer (IMHO). A better term might be "the far side" as this would avoid the misinterpretation of "dark" as literal darkness instead of "not seen" as in dark matter/dark energy. It may have been a great name for an album (love me some Floyd) but not so much for the less science minded person. Thanks for the interesting content regardless. 👍 Edit: I am aware of the narration using "far side" and that's great, but I think it would be better for the thumbnails and titles too. Thanks.
I think most people look at the Space X space suit and think it looks too simple, but that is the point, the least amount of parts to get the job done. For 50 years NASA has spent billions of dollars on huge clunky suits that barely function. Along comes Space X and develops a simple, flexible suit for 200,000, and only took them 2 years. Plus they will constantly iterate it and make it better. So in 2 more years they will have an absolute bad ass suit that is highly functional vs NASA taking 10 years to design and another 10 to iterate...
No matter world politics these days, it appears all the established space agencies have no time for the nonsense and want to collaborate with each other, probably with an understanding that this is human progress, not national progress. It's a shame they often get held back by their respective governments.
Great update thanks. It leaves me wondering why some commentators are critising the suit claiming its not an EVA suit. I'm wondering now whether is it due to the requirement of an umbilical and not just a tether?
The best looking space suit of course!. Don't know why all suits had to look dorky in the past, as to why nobody cared about looks during design. Why not? White isn't my fav. but maybe it's engineering. Good job Elon! Love it! Gr8! Peace ☮💜Love
Considering SpaceX progress they have about 10yrs to finish the design. Knowing spaceX i hardly doubt this sleek suit is capable of passing required tests. I hope people set to test them have seen the test data and footage themselves and were not convinced by management 😅
Are you saying that these suits with gloves over the sleeves and zippers everywhere, including the boots, keep the pressure in the cosmic vacuum? I think you are joking!
Try something out of the box since we have gotten amazing inventions from the movies, such as smartphones from the wisdom of Motorola from StarTrek-communicator. Why can SpaceX Engineering-Dept. I don’t think we care about resolution with space telescopes. I think most the sensors on James Web are around 2 megapixel. We want big mirrors to collect more light at 2 megapixels.

considering their "most powerful rocket" can't even get into orbit yet tells me I wouldn't bet on this until its proven in flights. If spacex was a gaming company, I wouldn't pre order anything from them.

These are test articles, not production models. You could just read the mission plan instead of hating on something for the sake of being negative.
SpaceX should send Tesla BOTs to Mars to build and experiment with the planet's atmosphere before humans set foot on it. Tesla BOTs should be capable of constructing an entire city and testing all structural integrity against Martian storms. Each structure should be tested for a full year for oxygen leaks and solar power integrity during this period. Farming and water supply consumption should also be tested. Why risk humans for this process?
