No. Back then, Em was just an artist. So if there was a time where he was able to be cancelled, it was back then. He didn't own anything back then, including his publishing. There were protests about him everywhere, governments tried to cancel him, most rappers hated him, the entire media hated him.
And they still couldn't cancel him.
Now he owns everything he has, everything he creates, his own label, everything. You can't cancel someone that owns everything they have.
Just think, what happens if he leaves Dre and interscope? The labels take a HUGEEEE hit it revenue. Em goes independent, and starts selling his albums himself and keeps 100% of the revenue. He can't be cancelled. Lol

Em got bit in the ass for his music, trust. He went through it, but he is a real one. He didn't care, he ran through it all head first. He was too big of a force to stop. There will never be another. You just had to be there to understand all the stuff this man had to go through. And he still came out on top of it all. True definition of GOAT.

The interesting thing with Em is he wasnt controversial. The media made him controversial by talking about him and making his music mainstream. Most people apologize...he didn't. He doubled down on shock rap. It's hard to explain, you really had to live through that time to understand it but his early shock rap style was to get attention. Then he went harder when society was trying to cancel him and this was before cancel culture. White America was cool with blacks making rap music about drugs and violence. They only tried to cancel Em because whites were listening. Middle and upperclass. Thats why there's a progression from his early shock rap style to his current conscious rap where he's acually talking about real issues. He's not slim shady anymore. He's Marshall. I don't agree with some of his left leaning beliefs but he's definitely trying to say something. He's not just stringing words together that ryhme to get a reaction. Also the way he's using the F word. He's only doing that for shock rap. He had Elto John sing the verse for his song stan I think at the MTV music awards. They've been friends since. Em acually as a joke sent Elton a pair of diamond encrusted c@ck rings for his anniversary with his husband. Elton thought it was hilarious. Em is the type of person that does whatever you tell him he's not allowed to do just to prove you wrong.
The benefit Em has is that he learned how to deal with the pitfalls of cancel culture like 15-20 years ago. These people nowadays WISH they got the kind of heat Em got back in the day for the things he said when they cry about people's reaction to their work.
Controversy creates cash, always has, always will.
He learned that you can actually just kinda point and laugh at these movements and if they dont actually have anything solid you can just keep on pushin with no noteworthy consequences.
The fact his "homophobia" never had any real world implications and seemed to be purely based in regional and generational linguistics and done for rhyme scheme instead of outward intentional malice helped do a lot of the heavy lifting on that front too. It became real hard for his dissenters to carry water when he linked up with Elton John.

He was supposed to buckle under pressure or smooth himself out , and his reaction was the opposite. He basically said " oh you do not like it, here are two albums full of it. Wosre he did something that shut every one up : he said I am just a poorly educated little white guy from nowhere : how 'f up are you that you care what I think of you, and when you say something and i know it bugs you i am going to go back : eminem did it unapologetically when he got called on it , he literally came out and said "how messed up is it that you need me to validate you when you are right I just say it because people will pay me to say it , just like you are getting paid to be upset about : so who is the real hypocrite at least I am honest about why I am doing it"
But all it is the same rage that punk, heavy metal etc is built on he even says it : I do not do white music , i dont do black music, I do fight music for highschool students : its eveyrone else making him important.

They tried to cancel em but the stans support is enormous and he had fans globally including the ones that don't even like rap lol, so he didn't feel it, em destroyed ICP they released a track called "Slim Anus" one of the best diss tracks against em.The Gay bashing wasn't a personal attack on Gay people ICP claimed em had an affair with dre to get a record deal and all in their disstrack and in hip hop back in the day the "F" is just a word to insult someone you don6 have to be gay for you to be called that if you're a rapper in a rap beef with someone, expect to be called that. Oh "the community" have tried to cancel him since '98 or whenever it was that his first album came out. I remember these "geniuses" buying his CDs and burning them as a form of protest🤦♂ This dude just like Dave Chappelle though: Too talented and more importantly way too famous to get canceled. Their fans know what they're about also, in most cases, they are older and don't throw hissy fits over this sort of stuff.
