Zoro went out the well facing the Mansion, but instead getting lost and went towards Luffy shows how bad Zoro's sense of direction is. Also Kuina is dead dead, killed by Down D. Stairs. But I think her death is much more than that, I think it was her depression about being a woman, that's just been a theory though. And Garp being introduced very early in the Live Action is kinda risky, since He appears for a brief moment in Shells Town then appeared again for hundreds of episode later to be revealed as his Grandpa. I think you already know by the next episode that he is really Luffy's Grandpa. You're correct about the translation thing, as if Luffy was supposed to say G G G G Garp! But it's Grandpa!. Like other pointed out, the show runner Matt Owens is prolly one of the biggest one piece fans in the world. You can almost be 100% sure he won't do any flaws. At least not in the big scheme. Besides that: Oda, which is the creator of the one piece manga reviews all scenes from that live action to make sure everything is exactly like he imagine it to be. Owens gave him the right to put a veto on everything he doesn't like and they will do it again. Oda was also the one who castest the main cast, and he even said that Luffy and all the others look exactly like he imagined, when he first draw the manga.
I like that in the show they kind of did two episode story arcs. This one I think is my favorite of the four in the first season, only just barely. All of them are so great. Just the level of entertainment in episodes 3 and 4 is a tiny bit higher than the others, for me. Great villain, very memorable side characters, great backstory reveals, and the writing is peak. The more times I watch it, the more little details I pick up, and the structure of it impresses me more and more. Rare these days that Hollywood produces things that get better on rewatch instead of worse, but I credit the original source material and the love and care they put into making the adaptation.
Many members of the team involved in this adaptation are big fans of the original series and the creator himself worked closely with them, so you can assume they are not making translation errors and getting things mixed up unintentionally, especially this kind of important plot points.

kuina's death is so comical in the anime that they didn't even menntion how she died. they just said it was an accident. the real way she died is (spoilers) . . . . . . she fell off some stairs lol.
what's important in this episode is that the fact that someone who Zoro could never beat by force ended up dying by something that is simple and rather unspectacular. It's to teach Zoro how people, even seemingly strong people can lose/die in unexpected/easy ways and how that happens in life. The deaths of characters in ways like this are pretty common in stories but people like to think deeply about this for One Piece. That it's an important part of Zoro's personality development and doesn't seem unnatural. Think of Zoro saying: "screw this, how could you die for such a stupid reason?". Zoro will never be able to fight/beat Kuina again and for a poignant phrase/image like that, Kuina's death can't be something dramatic.
Kuina fell down the stairs but it was never shown in the manga and anime so fans have some theories. Some say she is still alive and others say she unalive herself.
cant wait for you to watch the anime it's gonna be so fun because watching the anime then coming to the live action it surprised me how well done and different it was!
37:10 When Garp first heard about a "straw hat pirate" at the end of episode 1, he instantly knew. It also explains why the man who captured the Pirate King is so gung-ho about catching a newly formed pirate crew. In the manga it comes into play MUCH later. I can think of a number of reasons why the showsrunners took this decision, but we would be getting into spoilers territory.
Zoro's backstory is anime basics. Their promise and him being the only one, who can make it become reality, is the core of his character. Kuina not being dead would mean there is no Zoro.
I’m sure people have already commented this, but unoriginal or not, I love Zoro’s backstory. The mundaneness of Kuina’s death is so unusual but I love that. Sometimes, shit just happens. And the show doesn’t shy away from that. EDIT: yeah Kuina I felt had one of the weaker performances in the live action. I don’t think she was poorly cast. But the performance for Kuina, her dad, and kid Usopp felt very stiff.
People that watch the la will take sometime to wrap around the fact that garp are luffy's grandpa obviously they look nothing alike But in the manga and anime got revealed it's like the most obvious thing the two looks like a copy to each other
In the manga the flashback of Zoro is short, in the anime is more fleshed out, so by the time you watch the anime think about this comment, the creator Eichiro Oda forced the staff of Tomorrow Studios not to change 2 things that are most important: the powers and the backstories of the main characters
when she said about men beating women is very true espically when bioth trained the same, there is a reason so many women in sport even women like the top tennis player in the world has been getting very angry at people that want to merge men and women cause she would go from the best woman in the world to not even being the 200th best jimmy kimmel tried saying to her "oh its not like that" and she put him in his place she even said she wouldn't score a single point against most men
Yah I’m real life. In the one piece universe this isn’t true at all though. It’s part of why this backstory is so sad. You could see a world where Kuina and zoro push each other to be the best
The whole live action was directed with oda (author of one piece) consent So there is no chance that they will do the grandpa part wrong In anime garp being luffy grandpa revelead much later around 300 ep So it is a spoiler
I don't blame you for any of your ridiculous theories. Despite the show trying to show only the important moments they made a lot of the big reveals unnecessarily vague. Certain things you've questioned in this episode and previous episodes were either stated outright or at least more clear in the Manga/Anime.
The crazy part about GArp is realy few know his name even tought he is a navy hero . Luffy keep saying I am Monkey D Luffy and I will be the pirate king ! Bot no one know Garp the Hero full name they call him Garp the fist ! If you knew his full name was Monkey D Garp .You would have know directly that luffy is related to him. Same with Luffy crew .

Owens gave him the right to put a veto on everything he doesn't like and they will do it again. Oda was also the one who castest the main cast, and he even said that Luffy and all the others look exactly like he imagined, when he first draw the manga.
i love the one piece music in the intro so hyped for this journey!
To think that our boy Zoro could do something as despicable as kill his childhood friend, you're monster, Carson
Love the video as always!
Kuina got dat Putin oppositionist treatment🥶💯
yeah like holy shit lol
wtf
Probably half of everyone told you this but the Grandpa part wasn't revealed for 300 more episodes in the anime. But yes his name is Monkey D. Garp.
Many members of the team involved in this adaptation are big fans of the original series and the creator himself worked closely with them, so you can assume they are not making translation errors and getting things mixed up unintentionally, especially this kind of important plot points.
I just repeat myself again and again but I'm so happy you're finally into it !

kuina's death is so comical in the anime that they didn't even menntion how she died. they just said it was an accident.
the real way she died is (spoilers)

she fell off some stairs lol.
Dont diss Down D Stairs
In Japan "fell of the stairs" sometimes used as an euphemism for suicide.
So speculations still continue.
what's important in this episode is that the fact that someone who Zoro could never beat by force ended up dying by something that is simple and rather unspectacular.
@@Grigorii-j7zthat's not true. A redditor made that up and it spread like wildfire
My favorite part of this episode was that they got Nami to laugh.
in the anime kuina falls down the stairs and dies. [ not joking ]
Thanks for the video!!
thank you for watching!
Kuina fell down the stairs but it was never shown in the manga and anime so fans have some theories. Some say she is still alive and others say she unalive herself.
What is your final decision about the rate of uploading episodes?
we haven't come to a final conclusion yet, we still have a few weeks to decide base don how these live action videos do
"Grandpa" is at 36:35 y'all
carsons confusion is completely justified and theyll understand as they get into the anime
The fact that Down D. Stairs was omitted from the live action...
already some of the best channels for reactions to one piece
cant wait for you to watch the anime it's gonna be so fun because watching the anime then coming to the live action it surprised me how well done and different it was!
Fun fact, sham (the female black cat pirate) is actually a male in the anime
ready get ready because these episodes are coming uuuf
Down D Stairs takes another soul from us on this fateful day... RIP Kuina ♥
Kuina hit harder in the anime tbh
The effectiveness of Kuro's weapons are explained in the anime. When you see it you will understand why.
One of best line in show you said robotics and i know why..😂😂😂😂 can't digest reality 😂😂
"This sword hands are so ineffective!"
*Meanwhile Zoro using a sword in his mouth*
"Zoro is so cool."
Huh... I detect hypocrisy.
Love this episode. Great flashback
Subbed so I get notified when more pirates.. come.
For MF stuff
Late into like episode 300's or 400s of episodes. It's a mid-ish twist.
36:36 a reveal of Vol.45 at EP.4 (LMAO) XD
36:36 Grandpa! they Grandpa! the crew Grandpa!
Comment for the grind
🙏🙏🙏
Nice reaction.
Thank you!
Best head butt ever😂
I agree with Lindsay. Finger knives are never effective. I mean even stairs are 1-0 against them
I’m here to leave a comment on anything, so excited for the one piece journey with yall
Zoro's backstory is anime basics. Their promise and him being the only one, who can make it become reality, is the core of his character. Kuina not being dead would mean there is no Zoro.
Monkey D. Garp. that says it all
So happy to see this reaction!
45:05 STOP bro....just....stop.😂😂😂 LA goes quick to cover as much as they can. Its explained sooo much more in manga/anime.
Nice kuina theory, can't wait for your anime reaction for the answer 😬🤣
I’m sure people have already commented this, but unoriginal or not, I love Zoro’s backstory. The mundaneness of Kuina’s death is so unusual but I love that. Sometimes, shit just happens. And the show doesn’t shy away from that.
EDIT: yeah Kuina I felt had one of the weaker performances in the live action. I don’t think she was poorly cast. But the performance for Kuina, her dad, and kid Usopp felt very stiff.
U will know this laugh after few time
Yooooohoooowoooooooohoooohoooooo-yowohhhhoho
There is a character on the original One Piece named Jango. So bad Netflix didn't put him on this episode, crazy character.
Hope they get rid of foxy since they got rid of jango
36:35
People that watch the la will take sometime to wrap around the fact that garp are luffy's grandpa obviously they look nothing alike
But in the manga and anime got revealed it's like the most obvious thing the two looks like a copy to each other
In the manga the flashback of Zoro is short, in the anime is more fleshed out, so by the time you watch the anime think about this comment, the creator Eichiro Oda forced the staff of Tomorrow Studios not to change 2 things that are most important: the powers and the backstories of the main characters
Also no romance and things like that
@@royalfun1031 Exactly
the whole grandpa thing isn't revealed till around the 300s episodes
When will there be a podcast discussing about One Piece LA?
when she said about men beating women is very true espically when bioth trained the same, there is a reason so many women in sport even women like the top tennis player in the world has been getting very angry at people that want to merge men and women cause she would go from the best woman in the world to not even being the 200th best jimmy kimmel tried saying to her "oh its not like that" and she put him in his place she even said she wouldn't score a single point against most men
I mean it is true if u put both men and women in any sports be it mental or physical
Men will destroy them
Because they are better
Yah I’m real life. In the one piece universe this isn’t true at all though. It’s part of why this backstory is so sad. You could see a world where Kuina and zoro push each other to be the best
@@MoonFlowerCrown still Zoro would surpass her
@@adityannair3278because zoro is destined to be the greatest swordsman not because his sex
@@MoonFlowerCrown Zoro is destined
When did destiny involved with Zoro
It was for luffy
The whole live action was directed with oda (author of one piece) consent
So there is no chance that they will do the grandpa part wrong
In anime garp being luffy grandpa revelead much later around 300 ep
So it is a spoiler
My theory on how Kuina died is that she fell down the stairs onto her sword…
why do Kuro's sidekicks look like BBC Presenters?
fun fact: they look SILLIER In the anime c:
Kuina death be just like in that anime called Another episode 3 Bone Work.... 😨
I'M SO HYPE
Damn cool predictions
That's his actual grandpa
Leaving my comment for no reason.
But great reaction. Can't wait to hear about next episode. 💥
Monkey D Garp. Monkey D Luffy emphasis on the D
Vice Admiral Garp really is grandfther of Luffy. Not mistranslation.
Comment anything.
They definitely changed some shit up, but i can respect it.
