The sound of a baby crying is very similar to the sound of a cat in distress or pain. Many well domesticated cats like yours may merely investigate, see it isn't a cat, and learn to ignore or "help" by snuggling baby. Or they may hide like the vacuum is after them 😂

My cats (and dog) were very concerned about my babies crying. Since we were running a nursing home for spoiled fur babies, they have sorrowfully passed on. Our young furry children are VERY concerned when any infant cries being human, kitten, or puppy. My big, grey, laid back boy found our youngest as a 4 week old kitten and adopted her. The 95 pound golden retriever wants desperately to take care of the cats, lick them, and carry them around. When my daughter babysits, all three of them are right there to supervise our care of the adorable baby.
My cats learned long ago that strange noises coming from my phone are meaningless. I used to be able to get a reaction by playing hawk sounds or cat fight sounds. Not any more. I did manage to confirm that an old cat wasn't deaf by playing a cat fight while she was asleep. Her twitching ears gave her away, but she didn't get up.
Chase was like 💭😾what is that infernal noise?!?!? Skye went back to business as usual. That's good cause they will all have to get used to that sound. Millie ran. I'm with Millie.

I do not think your baby will even cry much.... because of the calmness of both of you. That is a huge factor with babies.. and especially Kareem with his totally calm and centered being. He is amazing and centered ... and really so are you Fifi... so hand the baby sweets over to Papa and he will be quiet in minutes.. also Chase will be amazing big brother.. pacing if he cries and wanting to comfort him.. the other two do not really get it yet ha SOON you will know Blessings and love Merri and Bart x
A cat's meows & other vocalizations are designed to mimic the sound of a crying human baby. In this manner, the cat hopes the adult human will care for them & receive the adult human's attention. Basically, the cats are thinking "That human baby sounds just like me. Where's my mom or dad?" Now the cat has competition for all the attention in the household. The furbabies will treat the human baby as if it were a littermate brother or sister.
