    Right in time! I'm in the middle of rebuilding my b series transmission and this is one of the best how to on RUclips I have seen so far for this job.

    Thank you so much! I always wondered how they measured "the play". Now I am completely confident in rebuilding my own gearbox 🎉❤

    This was the most comprehensive video I could find, Thanks! 🙏🏾
    In my case , I was right at the lower range. I thought I was out of spec but realized my dial indicator was in mm not inches. Right on .11mm (.004in)

    This is great. I'm guessing you could you also verify this with a solder crush test? I'm thinking a two (2) 0.118in (3mm) pieces of solder 180 degrees apart that would be crushed when the case is bolted to spec without the spacer. The end gap would be verified by measuring the average crush of each solder minus the thickness of the spacer.

    • @bvspeed
      @bvspeed  Год назад

      I suppose that could work as long as the solder is 100% precise and consistent to what it’s advertised as in terms of size/thickness. Without knowing for sure, I wouldn’t put my trust in it.

    can you do a full k trans rebuild in depth?

    • @bvspeed
      @bvspeed  9 месяцев назад +1

      I definitely would like to do one, but it's low on the priority list. Plus, there are plenty of those on RUclips already. One of these days...

    What kinda noise would it make if it’s out of specification?

    Can you do a differential clearance check?

      I could, but it’s too simple to make an entire video out of it, haha! Ball bearing or tapered roller?

    Great vid...bout to rebuild my trans, however, why is it so hard to locate R18 series synchros for my 08 Honda Civic LX. Any ideas on where to find them OR are there any other series synchros that would be compatible? TIA

      @bvspeed  2 года назад

      Thank you! Honestly, I’m not too sure aside from trying to get them from a dealership. I’d imagine they’re not as popular as a K-series, for example, so they may have kept production down on those parts.

    When you install the mainshaft to do the test, can you have it fully assembled with all gears, synchro's, etc., like you never even removed anything on it. Or do you need only the selected parts as stated in the repair manual on the mainshaft, which would be only the spacers, and the 5th, 3rd, 4th, synchro hubs? Thanks

    • @bvspeed
      @bvspeed  Год назад

      You can do it either way, but the “proper” way would be to do it as Honda recommends. They have you do it that way so there isn’t so much weight, thus making it easier for the tool to do its job. It still works with all the components on the shaft though.

    How do you check countershaft clearance?

    • @bvspeed
      @bvspeed  4 месяца назад

      As far as I know, there is no check for that. I'm assuming, because the two components (mainshaft and diff) that are before and after the counter are measured, there's no need to set anything for the counter. I could be wrong though...

    • @bvspeed
      @bvspeed  3 месяца назад

      You’ll have to have the countershaft out, so probably not.

    Just curious, I've seen a commercial gear presser behind you and some other guy doing it on another channel. As a beginner, what can we use to press in our own gears at home that's affordable instead of using make shift crappy parts? Thanks in advance!

    • @bvspeed
      @bvspeed  Год назад

      I believe there are ways by using universal pullers or even methods of dropping the gearsets (controlled/lightly) to pull gears apart. The homie at Honda Street Garage has some older videos on how he did it!
