His dad was overbearing and never gave that kid a break. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great father to his kid’s, but I saw Hunter at the batting cages 4 - 5 days a week at the age of 9.
He was different bro. Watch his hs tape. He looked like a MARTIAN playing against those other kids. Plus he plays both sides of the ball which if he came up before Ohtani wouldve been a much bigger note than it already is.
I watched Hunter play as kid through Pony League and he was amazing to watch back then. He once filled in on my son’s U14 travel team when he was 12 and was able to compete with ease. Not sure if he ever had time to play with friends or ride a bike since his dad set a strict practice regiment which left him no time for other things in life that most kid’s his age enjoyed. Reminds me of Michael Jackson and what he went through. But then again Hunter and MJ are or we’re in the show!
Hunter has a leash on from his Dad. Hes pretty much his agent like lavar ball was except Russell is quiet with the publicity. Feel bad for the kid but he definitely set his kid up for success.
I knew when he got to majors he would be amazing keeping on grinding. He is a elite pitcher no doubt and will be one of the best starting pitchers soon
This was the biggest pitching debut after Strasburg and Macdonald, but it was pretty low key. I've never seen a SP avg 100mph in a start. I cant remember seeing a FB under 98mph. And they couldn't touch his off speed stuff which was a surprise.
I always wondered what rocker would be doing if he pulled a greene and went right into the league if his fastball velo would of stayed up or went past the high 90s
Guys like that you never last long example Stephen Strasburg sure he has great velocity and he can hit 100 plus but if you wants it to last he needs to use his breaking balls more than his fast balls just so his arm doesn't get blown out its a long season kid pace yourself rooting for him to do well great young player for the reds
welp, 7K in 5 innings vs the WSC Braves on his debut, not bad. At only 22 he has plenty of time to work on his arsenal. The mindset and speed are there.
Its crazy that these guys come in as starters throwing this type of gas and not too many people even bat an eye at it
Greene is looking strong so far. Keep up the great work!
As a Reds fan I've been waiting for this kid to finally get the call! Can't wait to see how he does. So far so good!
So much velocity with such a smooth delivery. That's a good sign for physical longevity.
awesome 1st inning! love seeing the proud parents up there too! best of luck in your career Hunter Greene!

He has been so solid. Hoping we can get to October with this sqaud in 25 or very soon. GO REDS 🇺🇲
he’s looking like a great piece for the reds rebuild
Yup. Which means we won’t keep him very long.
He'll be a Yankee or Dodger soon enough. Reds are a failed organization with no hope of ever being competitive.
Already looking like a big help to this rotation
Lmao...
“Baseballs lebron or the new Babe” that’s a CRAZY headline for a 17 year old jeeez

@@BasedAurelius I’d love to see the reds take advantage of the Ohtani rule, but I doubt they’d let him if he doesn’t feel like it.

4.35 ERA, 10.3 innings.
I guess that's good.
dude throws 100 like its nothing. smooth
It’s the effortless 100mph for me.
From a Braves fan, he threw one helluva ballgame & his stuff gave me 'young Doc Gooden' vibes... ( tips🧢)
Those 3 pitches to Riley were gorgeous! The first two ended up at the same spot but were about 12 mph difference in speed and movement.
The craziest thing about his fastball isn't necessarily the velocity, but that thing rises. The difference between his slider and fastball is so big
Hunter looked like a 2nd year starter today, not a rookie
That was nasty
Looking good!!
I knew when he got to majors he would be amazing keeping on grinding. He is a elite pitcher no doubt and will be one of the best starting pitchers soon
Absolutely correct. Unfortunately we probably won’t hang onto him or build around him.
On God
Hunter 💯
This kid reminds me of Dave Stewart. Great future ahead of if he takes care of him arm.
A lot of max scherzer and Justin verlander in his delivery
This is was finally hunter greene 103mph fast ball
Did you see Olsen's face and expression when he K'ed on that high heater? It was like, "Dmnn....!"
I like his change up more than his fastball tbh but both are great weapons
His slider looks nasty too, it breaks like a knive only about 10ft before the homeplate
jesus thats a smooth 100

Kid has the tools to be the next great but needs to keep practicing his craftm
I always wondered what rocker would be doing if he pulled a greene and went right into the league if his fastball velo would of stayed up or went past the high 90s
the reds have greene and they aquired chase petty in their organization the other week. two flame throwers in one pitching staff in 4-5 years to come
NL ROY candidate as a pitcher
Too bad they don't let pitchers hit anymore! This guy can really hit for as much power as he pitches with
FINAAALLLLLYYYYYYY
Este chico sera Cy Young en 4 años

I played against this kid when he went to notre dam high. He hit a Homer off me the 2nd pitch... this when he was a ss
아따 공 시원시원 하게 드가네 크..
DON'T GET TO USE TO SEEING HUNTER GREEN YOU KNOW HOW REDS WORK WHEN HE BECOMES A STAR HES GONE ELSEWHERE
Yep…
He’s like the right handed Aroldis Chapman
Expect greene has control lol
he looks like he is a veteran here
Only thing reds fans have to look forward to… every 5 starts lol
Rays need to trade for him lol
I'm always glad on MLB TV when one of the broadcasts isn't Bally Sports. That ticker along the bottom of the screen is so unnecessary and distracting.
Me as a reds fan: 😁
Reds version Degrom ?? 🤔
Hes gonna be a problem! He got a electric stuff!
Heat
Hello
hes next ohtani
We could be looking at the next J.R. Richard. Kids if you are as old I am, Google his name.
TRADE FOR HIM DODGERS
SHEEEEEESH
I wanna see Hunter Greene be a DH he'd be better than what Moustakas would do
He will be.
That’s not a big competition
GAS
The reds wasted votto
In what way?
location is not good enough to be All-star! still need more practice to fix his release point!
this his first big league start CHILL OUT

you talkin about being an all star in his first ever start at the major league level just quit talking
do you coach or ever played a inning in big leauge?
