oh god imagine being able to go back in time and tell these three men that one was going to win an oscar, one was going to direct the highest-grossing Thor movie and one was going to be a sparkly crab in a children's movie. Truly impressive work.
it's the most New Zealand thing ever that they randomly bump into Jonah Lomu at the airport. It's like the most over the top way of defining their location, but it actually happened.
Nhah I think Murray is a better character overall. If Taika did the part there would be a possibility that the show would be.. too much his. Hope yu know that I mean :)
Never knew this existed, just discovered it by accident. Made my day. Rhys Darby is the one and only Murray, but it's interesting to see where the character came from. I know Taika wrote and directed a few episodes, but wonder why he never made an appearance? Or did he have a cameo maybe?
As well as Flight of the Concords, one has gone onto win an Oscar and one has been nominated and may be again this year. Considering they are a group of mates in Newe Zealand they have gone onto achieve so much creatively. Absolutely astonishing.

Taika is great, it would have been even better if he was in the series as well. But Murray was much better character as a manager though. So I'm glad they changed that...
Taika would of been great as a character who buys out FOTC on the show and becomes like a more hard ass manager. Then Murray gets them back through some kind of loophole in their contract.
Hah, I just happened to be in Edinburgh last August while the 2023 Festival was happening. So much competition. I don't know how anyone gets noticed. But it worked for FOTC and Tim Minchin.
Uh.. Its KORG. A company that has been in business for over 55 years. The reason it shows up here has nothing to do with the movie Thor. Many many musicians use KORG keyboards, I had one, they're great.

Update: TWO were going to win an Oscar :p
@@jomo87 pfft it's no sparkly crab though, is it?
(sidenote YEY I'M SO HAPPY FOR TAIKA!)
He's a SHINY crab
Update: 2 win oscars and one is Boris the animal / Tamatoa
@@silves5412 exactly. Shiny! Sparkly does not cover it.
1. Taika hasn’t aged, 2. The way Jemaine says croissant and baguette is very soothing 😂😂😂😂 the humour is immaculate 😂😂❤️❤️
it's the most New Zealand thing ever that they randomly bump into Jonah Lomu at the airport. It's like the most over the top way of defining their location, but it actually happened.
I'm a Jemaine fangirl for life, but... can we just talk about how adorable Taika is?
What-If Machine yes, let's talk about it. 😂
So adorbs and baby faced!
Yeah
I don’t know what it is about Jermaine but he is so attractive.
Jemaine has a sexy voice
I wish Taika would've been on the show
Arekun I do too, although he was on there for five seconds as "Gypsy Kings fan", at least according to IMDb
Arekun I think he might of been the director at least on some of the eps.
Writer of a few episodes too, including the finale.
Nhah I think Murray is a better character overall. If Taika did the part there would be a possibility that the show would be.. too much his. Hope yu know that I mean :)
Arekun i agree he would sang every song wut fotc sang
the KORG keyboard really ties the Taika content binge together
I was just thinking that

He did a small cameo in the show as a Gypsy Kings fan on a commercial.
As well as Flight of the Concords, one has gone onto win an Oscar and one has been nominated and may be again this year. Considering they are a group of mates in Newe Zealand they have gone onto achieve so much creatively. Absolutely astonishing.
Taika and Jemaine were both in "What we do in the shadows," right?
The biggest 'take away' for me from watching this is that Taika appears not to have aged a day in the last 15 years.
Nx Doyle Apart from a completely new colour of hair being grey of course.
Spoof Boogie Woof Woof He suits grey so much!
@@DollOfTheDamnedKiwis have such incredible salt and pepper hair, Im so jelly
He's a vampire after all
The keyboard's called Korg...
Aww they look so young. Love seeing Taika here as well.
Not only funny and creative, these three are hunky as anything.
Also smart and talented musicians.
its sad for me that they cant be seen more in the future :_'
I cant believe this was almost 20 yes ago!! They didnt do to bad for themselves did they. Love FOTC
Ah yes.... Fu Do Fafa, that timeless French classic.
Foux du fafa, you mean.
New Zealand comedy is sticky sweet . Great camera angles up Jermaine's neck . Love those big tuning keys
I never thought my life could get better, but here this is proving me wrong
“That’s not a spoiler... that’s a boomerang”
Oh my god, Taika is in this and the keyboard is made by Korg
Hahaha yes!
Maybe the creation of Korg was influenced by Korg

Seen all of their work, esp Taika & Jemaine in "WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS". Genius of Hilarious!!!😁😄😅😆😂❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍
This is a treasure. And taika is adorable! 🥰

He's freaking gone
I saw somebody say that Korg was defeated by paper due to not enough pamphlets.
Couldn't help notice the big KORG on the keyboard and had to giggle
Conchords, Taika, Korg and Lomu? I'm sold
OMG they are so young!! love love love!!!! xoxoxo
they've seemingly gotten a tad old from then, but i'd still like to see them in the future without all the " "
to watch this now with taika and a prominent KORG is kinda funky

Funny to think that when this came out Jonah Lomu would have been the most famous person in it by MILES.
ty youtube for the random video recommendation. truly appreciate it
From Wellywood to Hollywood. These 3 fullas have done alright but meeting Jonah Lomu 5:33 must still be the highlight
They are not conventionally good looking but they are all so attractive 🤷🏻♀️
Jemaine's facial features are a bit too deep set to be considered classically handsome imo....
@@sydneyynzunza3361kinda like an ogre that works at a library… but handsome
It works so much better the way they did it, with them not acknowledging that they are comedy, and having the characters be "serious" musicians
this is still my favorite video on the internet
You can hear Rhys Darby doing the band intro at 10:11.
2 of these 3 now have oscars. Nuts.
What a delightful road for these talented people? From Playing to Working, hugs!
Holy cow they are so young I didn't even recognize them at first!!!
Forever and always their fan 👏🏼🥹
If only I went to university 13 years earlier I could've seen these guys in Edinburgh for free!!
hahaha. ''7 bucks is cheap, some cost like 12 bucks''
And Jemaine just played Dr Garvin in Avatar, Way of Water! It was a pretty big role! He's sort of the moral conscience of the invaders.😁

HolandaChiquita Aka Brian Nesbitt
They could've written a role for him. He could've been their landlord of something. I never understood how they paid rent in New York.
Great upload, thanks!
I came here are watching "what we do in the shadows" and being a huge lotr fan
I noticed figwit/Lindir too omgggggg
What a wonderful moment with Jonah lomu 4 of nzs wonderful producer actors musicians and rugby icon in one lovely
HOLD ON. Rhys Darby said he met Taika Waititi in Edinburgh in 2002. Could this be the time they met each other?!!?
Taika is basically a jerk version of Murray from the tv show lmao. Also so bummed he never appeared on the show. Please make a movie!
Actually he did appear on the show. He was in the telephone commercial in ep 7. It was an ep he wrote and directed.
Taika would of been great as a character who buys out FOTC on the show and becomes like a more hard ass manager. Then Murray gets them back through some kind of loophole in their contract.
Greasy McNasty this would have been a great episode tbh
They're treating the Lebaron like a limo. Classic.

Still waiting for that Vegas gig!
I'm so glad Bret took his character away from this and more in to the Bret we know and love.
I kinda dig this. It's about five years away from the show and it feels like it's just a younger, dumber and slightly more arrogant version of Bret
yall they performed with rhys and im literally crying
Two of the three now have Oscars.
i think i'm in love with that Jemaine guy - gosh i'm 17
I love that they recycled Jemaine’s studio compartment bit for the show!
oooo this is awesome, its like an extra episode
A wild Jonah appears! RIP big man

Weird to see them with a competent manager!
It's like they're taped together....with some kind of powerful adhesive.
0:33 Bret's failed audition for the role of "Korg." I don't think he quite "got" the character though.
00:33 so that’s where Taika got Korgs name 😂😂😂
I did not expect jonah lomu to show up
Is there anything in the FotC lore about the transition from Larry to Murray? If not, that needs to be explored.
