I was lucky to be at this gig. A long held dream to see them perform in Paris where is duets heard the Kiss me album in 1987 when I was 13. The entire gig was a magical musical pilgrimage but thank you for uploading this footage as I’d forgotten Roberts’s rant about health & safety ❤ #blesshim x
4 of the 5 new songs follow a very similar extended instrumental intro followed by a block of vocals, followed by an instrumental break (often with aggressive guitar playing) and then a single recitation of the chorus before ending. It Can Never Be The Same also did a similar thing w/o the extended intro. A Fragile Thing is the one exception because that follows a more standard pop song structure. These are not complaints, I just find Robert’s choices for lyrics and vocals interesting. When you consider songs like Disintegration, FtEotDGS and Watching Me Fall that are packed with vocals, it’s odd to see him revert to The Kiss-style drawn out compositions with sparse lyrics coming in at the end.
Funny you say that because if you listen to the demo version of To Wish Impossible Things on the Wish remaster, it has parts that sound very similar to parts of Endsong. Robert also mentioned how TWIT is similar in essence to Alone, so it’s like this whole new album was shaped by that single Wish song.
