It doesn't really work that way when they lose their humanity. Stefan was indifferent to Damon's life, but still found a loophole to save him when Mikael had his hand in his chest. It's not as if they want people who care about them to die, they just don't care. He found Bonnie's attempts to bring him back amusing, right up until he saw she was dead serious about dying for him, and his humanity came back.
Bonnie was not fucking with Enzo, she was like I'll kill us both, he really thought she was playing dead for a second. I'm glad they didn't drag out this humanity plot.
