@777z good for you! That’s awesome...great to see teens creating habits and traditions that will benefit their entire lives You’re learning from the best with Brian and I’m sure will have great success. ❤️
You are gonna do great! I started around the same age as you, and gardening has been such a "grounding" hobby (no pun intended) 😂 Don't get discouraged if things die, if you dont kill any plants you arent taking enough risks- It's all part of the process 😍
Man...mint... I spent 5 years digging up mint from one area. In the end I placed rabbits on that area and with their digging instincts the mint finally had no chance! I won!
mint...grrr....I planted mint...IN POTS...but it grew OUT OF THE HOLES in the bottom of the pot and TOOK OVER!!! 1 mint plant in the garden = a hostile takeover...😁😂
Last year I had the leaf miners all over the peppers and ended up just pulling the plants as I had no idea how to get rid of them. Now I know what they are and how to get rid of them. The previous owner had planted mint and 9 years later I am still trying to get rid of it. It comes up everywhere. I love this and the tomato one from last week. We currently have the water lines laid out, seedling started and I am finishing up designing where every thing is going to go in the large raised bed. I already have my onions, garlic and potatoes going in the small bed and we covered it until the last frost. Thank you for this channel, I have learned so much.
I had some leftover green onions and chives in my pepper bed and didn't have the heart to pull them to make way for the peppers, I just couldn't, so I planted the peppers around them. I'm thrilled to learn they help the peppers, and yes, the peppers are robust and healthy, so these plants will stay right where they are. Also, I realized my robust, superhealthy aji cristal peppers and my gigantic bushy baklouti pepper tubs are situated on either side of my shallot tub, which I have learned, you just leave there for months if you want big perfect shallots, so that tub will stay untouched between the peppers all summer, too. No aphid problems at all on any of these. These are the happiest plants in the garden.
I looked up hairy vech and it said it can be used for weed control. I want to sneak over to my next door neighbor's yard and drop seeds all over. Then when it grows out, people can say those neighbors have the hairy vech! 😂😂😂 All they have are weeds and they mow weeds. Of course, the seeds blow in my yard. Actually, I am planting clover and will likely drop a few of my seeds over there... it will take over the weeds, too.
I have learned so much from your videos. I'm retired and volunteer at a garden that teaches adults with development issues how to grow food for food banks and you have help me to teach with less errors. Thank you.

Another informative and funny show Brian, Thank you for sharing🌱🌱🌱💚
I had a terrible problem with aphids on my peppers last year. I'm planting lots of Nasturtiums this year. Suppose to be the ultimate trap crop for Aphids. Also planting lots of Marigolds not only for the peppers, but also as a companion plant for my tomatoes.

I don’t have time for gardening myths reducing my yield. My urban garden is on a small lot, similar to your own! Thanks for helping to make it as fruitful as possible!
I so look forward.to your weekly uploads. I turn on the TV 1st thing in the morning to see what's on RUclips before I head out backyard. Almost done spreading 6 yards of super soil, (as they call it here) for my garden. My 4 bins of compost aren't ready yet so its the next best thing, besides bags.
You have to provide them with some water and release at night time so they don't fly away. If you are wanting them to work in a specific area you could net/mesh them in and let them work.
@@shervegas They do fly away but lady beetles will stay around and reproduce in wooded areas. You won't know until next year when the nymphs are searching for food. new subscriber! I go wild around this time of year I had no idea about all the benefits of herbs! I know they are healthy for my immune system. This year I decided to mark my rows with and around the dandelions. Actually A little trick, I am just hilling my potatoes consistently, but I think by leaving the dirt right on the leaves of the plants it seems to be encouraging faster growth! I have never grown them before, but I also noticed the potatoes that had growths in my cupboard, had ends. Like one end was green and purple, the other was brown and hairy, like roots, so I planted the whole thing. Neat thanks!
I don't have much of a problem with pests on my tomatoes or peppers but it might be because I have just accidentally been doing things right. I plant Sunflowers and marigolds and Alyssum every year. I am adding Zinnias, dill , lavender and thyme this year. Diversity is my thing because I get bored with just a few varieties . My nemesis is grasshoppers but have bird feeders up this year so maybe they will help out. Love your videos - very informative!
Hey Brian, I am hooked on your videos! Really - I've been binge watching for a week now! Could you do a video on different methods of irrigation. I have ONE soaker hose, and I'd love it to "branch out" but don't know what to buy.
Excellent, thank you Brian. I main have problems with the soft bodied little jerks on the dwarf lemon tree. Guess which little lemon is going to get a fortress of chives surrounding it!
Bunching onions and chives will grow for a long time all year round well after they produce seeds they often also multiply by creating a new stalk right next to the original and you can harvest a couple of leaves and they will bounce right back. They're also the best plants to grow so that you don't have to wait to get a taste of the garden. My absolute favorite.
Every time my husband cooks Asian, I make him leave me the white part of the green onions. Just pop them in the dirt, keep them watered, and you'll have green shoots within 2 weeks.
Wow - here in west/central ( Dunn county ) WI we all rarely have any pest issues with peppers, and then usually only Bell peppers. Our issue is not a long enough growing season for us too often, to get the colors in any of the colored Bells .
Thanks Brian, I subscribed, so I can take you with me to the garden center. Now I won't have to ask for a plant know one has a clue what I'm talking about 🙄Hopefully plants will have the right plant name tags. Luckily I can identify veggies by their leaves because by May they stick any falling off tag on anything 😄 Thanks again for your help 👍
Awesome, thank you! I'm doing herbs and flowers in growbags and will strategically move them around the garden. Planting a marigold line of defense interspersed with nasturiums. You gave me the idea to plant dill and chives right next to the peppers! Luckily I already have the seeds. Will be planting some peps in ground, some in grow bags.
Next time you mention ladybugs and nymphs I'd suggest showing a pic of the nymphs. They look so different from the adult form it may surprise folks. The first time I saw one I thought it was a monster but it turns out they eat more aphids than the adults!
I just looked up ladybug nymph. I had no idea that's what they looked like. They do look like monsters and I would have probably tried to squish them if I'd seen them. Thanks for the heads up.
Omg. Never seen them but definitely would have freaked out. (I got my first tomato hornworm last year and it was already host to lots of wasp larva... that was horrifying.) Tip: go out with a blacklight at night and they'll be super visible.
Really enjoy your channel. Definitely find your channel a good information source. Wish we had your climate here in western Colorado.....Thanks for your gardening advice.
SLUGS!!!!! I had slugs in my peppers last year, It was awful 😬 Not all of them, but the ones by the fence took it bad. the peppers in the pots were fine. I try not to use this word very much , but I HATE slugs!!! I have also had aphids and yes companion gardening works great. I don't plant in straight rows and I mix it up a bit, I like diversity in my garden. Have a good day Brian 👩🏽🌾🖖🏽

Great!
Thanks Brian. Great job. Good info.
Thank you !
Great video, thanks for sharing
As usual...you rock! I've planted a number of your suggestions, but I am going to add more.
This video was very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you happy easter
You're welcome. You too!
"What three-year-old is naming these bugs?! Ha-ha-ha! Learning a lot from you and laughing a lot.
That made me lol 😆

Great list of plants. Thanks
The best gardner out there😍
Thank you ❤
These videos are really well done.
Thanks you too!
Louise eyahpaise. Have you tried beer traps in your garden yet?
@@mariap.894 I have not, I don't drink and don't know anyone who does, so I would have to go to a liquor store and buy one beer!!
Thank you for the advice , I have been told it works though, so I may have to one day give it a try.☺👩🏽🌾🤞🏽
@@louiseeyahpaise795 I don't drink beer either, but it helped me when I lived up north. It was worth the expense. Buy the cheapest and smallest bottle/can you can and give it a go. Otherwise, you'll have to chase the slugs and throw salt on them...that's yuck!!! Happy Easter 🐰 🐇 🌺 🌷 🐔 🐣 🌷 🍀
@@mariap.894 I'll give it a try , yeah the salt thing is gross. thanks !!Happy Easter to you as well 👩🏽🌾🌷👒🐰
