Idk if Aggy discovered this or not cuz I'm only a minute in, but you can get loads of bolts by emptying your bolt thrower at the ground, selling the (now empty) thrower, and rebuying it, since all weapons come fully loaded. You can do this at any point in the game because selling an upgraded weapon refunds the money you spent upgrading, so you can just upgrade it again when you're done
I like to imagine that throughout this entire time Leon keeps going on about his Ol' Faithful that's always been with him (even though he just bought it at the start) and everybody is just getting more and more pissed at him sticking exclusively to this awful weapon.
@general shock uh well yea, thats how weapon mechanics generally work. In this case the bolt thrower isn't a bad weapon, its just that people suck using it and don't want to put the time into learning how. They'd rather just complain. And it is a good weapon. It's an extremely useful and important weapon in the game. You're missing out on a huge amount of gameplay by not even giving it a chance.

I don't know what is more impressive. That you finished this game with bolt thrower only or that the designers of the game made this possible for insanely skilled players.
Bolt thrower has been one of my most used weapons because the fact it has infinite ammo and ok damage makes it great for when fighting a few enemies and you don’t want to waste ammo. Probably the worst in my opinion is the fully auto sniper rifle. Even when I lightly tap the button it tries to shoot 3 shots
Agreed, I find it very useful in higher difficulties like hardcore and professional as it'll consistently stun enemies when you go for leg shots. Especially when compared to the handguns, which require like 4-5 shots in the head or the legs for a stun unlike the bolt thrower which will stun in only 2 hits if I recall correctly. And as you said; it's ammo efficient, the attachable mines are great for bosses as well.

I have been using the Bolt Thrower a lot as well. In my NG playthrough especially, it helped me save a lot of ammo, which I then sent to NG+ (Hardcore) Once you upgrade the Bolt Thrower, it's really quite good. Very quick at giving you Suplexes, and it trivialises some areas.

Aggy: No one ever dies in phase two of Saddler. *Immediately dies* Aggy: Imagine if I just crashed the jet ski after not saving. *Immediately crashes* This game is listening. I'm convinced.
The bolt thrower is great as a thinning out weapon, just shooting all the bolts into enemys will weaken and possibly kill some so now you have less to deal with and keep the bolts you used. Along with that the bolts usally knock back or stun the enemys on the first shot even on higher difficulties which allows you to follow up with many many many roundhouse kicks and if you've got the wolf tail its a one two combo. Was the first weapon I maxed out on my first and second playthrough with them being hardcore and professional
Ashley screams, get stunlocked, Ashley screams, get double stunlocked, Ashley gets dragged away 🤣🤣🤣 I'm only laughing because it is so damn hilarious this game, and I remember all too well the hell you go through on this game in some portions!
I actually find the bolt thrower really useful in parts of the game because of the attachable mines. They're great for when I'm in situations where I have to do damage to specific body parts on an enemy but it's tricky to aim precisely at those spots (e.g. the armored knights), and they make the Garrador sections an absolute breeze.
The best part about the stardew music, is that I’m JUST getting into it for the first time. Turning 23 this month and I’ve never played it before last month. It’s so enjoyable. I love it.

The bolt thrower is actually amazing. It's main "feature" might be that you can collect ammo, but that's not it's main "strength." Shooting enemies in the head with an upgraded bolt thrower makes them turn 180 degrees VEERRY consistently, opening them up for an instakill backstab. I get that you're intentionally ONLY using the bolts, but in a regular playthrough, the bolt thrower is epic. (in fact, after watching the video, I see that you were even showing how often enemies went 180 with your technique of shooting in the head then shooting in the ass. Combine that with backstabs and it's an amazing option for even Pro runs)
I personally love the bolt thrower because it's SO good for stealth and performing knife kills. Just about 100% of the time, if you shoot a bolt at an enemy's face, they'll be stunned AND turned around. Just run up to them and insta kill them with your knife. Granted it's a terrible weapon on it's own but playing normally it's one of my favorite weapons to use along with the Primal knife

The gallery bolt thrower challenge felt awful to do, that's the only point in the game where bolts travelling slower than bullets mattered I feel. Aside from that, its pretty decent on regular mobs for stun melee's and mines are the only reason i'd use it on a boss
instead of getting that rate of fire early, should have upgraded to capacity, bolt thrower is not the best weapon for damage but for sure is one of the best for stunlock, and capacity help you lots on doing so
Honestly the bolt thrower was one of best weapons imo especially when fully upgraded. Helps me save ammo for challenging foes or bosses, good for stunning enemies for melee hits, the explosive arrows work well for taking out multiple enemies that i would lump together, Doesn't take a lot of resources to craft arrows, and is best used by having a follow up weapon like a shotgun.
Worst weapon? You sure you’re using it correctly? It’s bolts can be reused. Saves so much of your ammo for the big fights. Not only that, but you can use it as a mine thrower as well. Meaning if used properly, you can flat out erase groups of enemies at one time. It’s my go to for clearing the chainsaw sisters section. Works pretty well for Garradors too. The bolts are silent as well. You can quietly pick single enemies off without drawing the rest of the hoard to you in certain spots. You can take every last zealot out before triggering the double Garradors before Salazar’s throne room if you just use bolts and knives. With a max firepower of 2.4, it does more damage than a few of the handguns. Sentinel 9 and Punisher are near useless at 1.9, and the CQBR is worthless without infinite ammo because it blows through your rifle bullets so quick. It’d be more impressive to beat the game with just those 3 weapons.
Awesome edits, awesome gameplay, awesome music and awesome video. Take my sub 🫴 P.S. I had no idea there was a type writer in the Krouser area. Awesome.

Assuming you're talking about the type of small repeating crossbow featured in the game, you're looking at producing about 13J of kinetic energy with a 12.5g projectile moving at 45m/s. The most modern hunting crossbows can get to about 200J but those are much more powerful than the bolt thrower shown ingame. 9mm pistols typically produce between 480-720J at the muzzle, and a .44 magnum revolver produces between 1500-2000J, 12 gauge shotgun with 9-pellet 00 buckshot is about 2300J, and the bolt-action rifle chambered in 30.06 M2 ball would be about 3600J. So in summary, bullets carry much more energy that crossbow bolts, thereby making them more effective at causing damage to tissue, although the are less efficient in actually penetrating tissue as bolts have better sectional density and cutting heads that mitigate tissue resistance to some degree.
@@nekosparkclaw2833 Think of it this way, it's easier to push a needle through a piece of fabric than a nail, but if you hit the nail hard enough, it's going through, regardless of its lower efficiency, and it does more damage to the fabric in the process.

He's not using it correctly
Awesome edits, awesome gameplay, awesome music and awesome video. Take my sub 🫴
P.S. I had no idea there was a type writer in the Krouser area. Awesome.
Lovin' that Pilotwings 64 music in the intro. Still waiting for Nintendo to make another one.
I actually didn’t know you could drop the giants in the lava first play though so I fought them both and beat them first try only to realize as I was looting that it was a thing
THe bolt thrower being the worst weapon is such a gross misunderstanding
This looks like such a fun run, I should have tuned in at www.twitch.tv/lilaggy to catch all of the best moments before they come to RUclips and the many moments that never make it. truly I have missed out greatly.
In all seriousness, I'm definitely watching the VODs for this LMAO.
At the Salazar fight so far… can’t wait to see aggy deal with the regenerators 😂
The Aggy ears on Leon is what brings this from great to SUPERB
I'm actually curious how a modern crossbow would compare to a handgun in real life. I assume it'd be weaker, but I'm not sure.
one of them is powered by a small explosion and the other one a string in tension so yeah I'm thinking a handgun is stronger
@@colbunkmust So bullets have more power in general, but bolts have an easier time cutting and piercing flesh?
@@nekosparkclaw2833 Think of it this way, it's easier to push a needle through a piece of fabric than a nail, but if you hit the nail hard enough, it's going through, regardless of its lower efficiency, and it does more damage to the fabric in the process.
@@colbunkmust I think your reply is just about one of my favorite replies I've ever gotten. Have a splendid day, chap.
