Hello from Texas. Good job. The video was...strangely relaxing. The guitar looked like a “player”. It is almost sad the history going away. I see the “J B Weld” on the input jack. I have a Telecaster and I have replaced the jack several times so I know WHY he used it. I think I would have put new screws/pots/wires/caps on it. I love the knobs.
lots of people complaining about the state of the guitar, i bet the owner played with it a LOT and had LOTS OF FUN, and thats why they are made for, good stuff are not supposed to end on museums and never get used. The owner put his own personality in it, gotta respect, its a guitar not a painting
Interesting split in the comments - I think I would’ve gone for some kind of compromise, DEFINITELY would’ve kept the Japanese writing on the headstock and maybe incorporated the little white heart from the original pickguard
Hello Friend, thank you for this video. Once again, you've done a brilliant restoration on this excellent 72' Fender Telecaster Custom Made in Japan. This make an high quality guitar. It's just shameful how some guitarists mistreat their instruments. Fortunately, as a Doctor in guitar surgery, you've added to this nice Telly, some more years ahead. Thanks again for this enjoyable video ! See you soon...
Music is life Léo fender is a legend this product untill todas os incredblo, the peale Dream whit that is a gift from god and reconizible for all this iOS beautfull thanks Léo in Brasil is very hard have on those happy for who restore and reconize this value sorry for my inglês a hug for then!
I quite like these restoration videos and enjoy how they look almost pristine after. But sometimes i‘m sad after removing all the stickers and scribbles the previous owner gave the guitar, it has some kind of charme and history behind it. Hope you understand what i mean. But still, great job on those restorations.
I agree that the guitar had a long history displayed all over it, but it was filthy and barely playable, and now it has a whole second chance to be passed around and customised and played to death all over again, plus it still has some neat little scars to hint at its wild old life ;)
For future reference, a heat gun or even a hair dryer is good for taking stickers off, especially old stickers. If you heat the glue on the back of the sticker, it’s way easier to pull them off. If you do manage to rip it off and it leaves some of the glue, then use the spray (actually wd40 works great for removing the glue left behind from stickers and decals
How some people can let an instrument get in such a state is beyond me.But you fixed it,with a refret into the bargain.Well done. The most relaxing 1/2 hour of my day.
That's a three bolt-on neck it's a early 70s telecaster it will be worth a lot of money in America.especially cuz it was made in japan.HIGH QUALITY INSTRUMENT!
At first I said "Oh noooh! o_0 " ... then I said "Oh yes!!! :D". A new hope for an old guitar! Also props to Fender for doing a proper finish to begin with making this guitar worth saving! :D One more ... a lot of love must have been used and abused to get the frets worn down like that, right? It wasn't left in an attic to just collect rust. It was played!!! :D
I would have replaced the switch, pots and frets then let it be. Someone put a lot of love into punkin' it up. I loved the big glob of JB Weld or whatever that was on the output jack cup.
as I watched this video I was hoping the guitar retained some signs of its punk past. The result is beautiful, but it also seemed to have had a great life worth remembering
I feel bad for this guitar. The owner clearly played the hell out of it. I mean, look at the state of the frets. But why didn't they put any effort into fixing the pickguard, and what the hell did they do to the output jack! Thankfully you have restored the guitar to its former glory. You are an artist in the way you restore these guitars. I love the attention to detail. You could easily have replaced all the rusted parts, but you take the time to restore even the smallest thing to its original condition. Keep up the great work!
Yes There are shops who specializes in making a perfect new guitar looks like it has been used as a garden shaval Not hard to use stikers and break part of the plastic shield And use a neck that needs fret replacement
No , not really. I'm shocked at the ammount of guitars I see treated this way. Personally I take care of all my guitars. How a person treats one is indicative of their personality.
for me, this is your best restoration yet. at the beginning, seeing the guitar in the state it was in, i didnt think youd be able to do anything with it. how wrong was i! outstanding job on the tele, very very well done my friend
Whomever put this guitar in the state you started with deserves to only ever have cold French fries for the rest of their life. They straight up disrespected this beautiful instrument. Great job on the rehab. I like that you retained some of the character and didn’t make it pristine. I’d love to play this one.
Really nice work. I love Japanese Fenders. Great quality for a very fair price. You restored every single piece of that guitar. Except the pickguard. And that's one piece that doesn't work. The fit of the pickguard is off and it runs to the edge of the guitar at the lower treble bout. That drives me crazy. Especially after all the work you put into that restoration.
あなたのスタイルがとても好きです、遠く離れているのに一緒にプレーしようと誘えなかったのが残念です 🇬🇧 You are not only an excellent luthier, but also my ideal guitarist. I really like your style, it's a shame to be so far away and not be able to invite you to play with me
after wathcing all thos restoration videos, the most interesting thing is where do you get those guitars at all? Each looks like it got through millions of punk festivals on stage
This is easily the BEST restoration you have done. Whoever let that Tele end up like it did should be ashamed. I thought you’d have to strip the body and repaint it, but it turned out magnificently! Well done to you! Keep the vids coming!!!!

I`m in love with this new jack...
I appreciate that you did not over restore this guitar
Great restoration, but I loved all the history of the stickers etc.

wow buddy you did a hell of a job on that guitar
Very good work its a best guitare 72 deluxe and custom you can play everything with this

Love the little jam session at the end of your videos! Keep up the good work!
These videos are so satisfying to watch.
Didn’t expect to hear His Hero Is Gone at the end there. Great band and excellent work!
i just realized you’re playing i hate myself as well. what great choices for demo songs!
Love the pick guard choice ..... Very cool !!!!!
at least this one looked well-played. so nice to see it restored to rock again
Looking at that fretboard, somebody had a lot of good times with that guitar. And that's what it's all about, isn't it?
Yea. Before the resto you could tell it was welled loved. Looked awesome

Beautiful 72 Telecaster Custom! You brought it back to life, brother. Fantastic as always!!!!!
Theres a keeper! You truely do these old guitars justice. Well done capt.
I like that, in tribute to it's punk rock past, you got a little punky and rough and tumble with it. Great job.
You gave back that guitar's dignity and integrity. Good work.
He's the one the frakked it up in the first place. The aging is faked.
Unreal paint correction. I wonder where you source these abused instruments...

I love ratty instruments like that. The cleanup and everything erased the history of this guitar.
When the guitar look like a skateboard. U need to erased the history😂😂😂

This is so satisfying to watch. Cleaning the rust from hardware is more easily done with an ultrasound vat. It doesn't deteriorate the part at all.
Just discovered this channel yesterday. Amazing work mate.
You put so much effort into the tele.....And you leave the Mesa Box so ruined!
OMG!! What a beautiful restoration!!!!
That was a great restoration you left everything original
Very nice job, You kept some patina and left it's character. Did you say when this guitar was manufactured?
I just love telecasters , and u did a great job, bravo!!!!

Muy buena como quedó! Eres muy bueno restaurando… no tanto tocando 😅
What kind of track are you playing at 30:00? It sounds very familiar, please tell me

Agreed, I wish they had somehow saved the pick guard
Agreed, way cooler before
Same, it had much more character before
It looked like shit before, dunno what you guys are talking about lol
Absolutely great restoration. Saved a great guitar.
part of me feels extremely satisfied and part of me feels bad to see that much history in that guitar just gone.
I really enjoy your approach to finding very beat up, guitars, and cleaning them up to the point they are playable again, great job.

That poor Tele, you definitely brought it back to a Tele Custom 👍💯
Great job ! So relaxing and satisfying ! Andi like the midwest emo riff vibe at the end

Awesome restoration and playing. Love your videos. Keep up the great work..

Most people would not believe that is the same guitar. New around here....subbed! Just wonderful, patient work!
You do absolutely excellent work thank you keep the videos coming I enjoy them very much
So relieved to see you didn`t use power tools, they should be barred from use on all guitars, nice restoration job. 👍
idk what hurts more- seeing the input jack being held in by putty or the frets with trench-like dents in it, great work as usual!
Looking at all the abuse and neglect - it's enough to make a grown man weep.
Wonderful work bringing that back ! Your patience and skill are inspirational.
now THATS a guitar with some serious history! im so surprised you were able to even ACTUALLY restore that- good heckin job man!
I would love to get my hands on this guitar
it looked way better at the start but I bet it feels way better now
A guitar worth restoring! Nice
I like it, but you left out the body restoration. I was eager to see how you recovered it.

That first melody sounded like something from Agalloch
Awesome job man, love it keepin them alive!!
I got that exact Relaxin’ with the High-Lows sticker when I was in Japan in 2002! It lived on a beater Danelectro for many, many years.
It got the restoration it deserved, but still, I loved the ”middle finger to good taste” punk axe it was.
