A short but very useful video, thank you! It’s very difficult to find information and real life examples of the post surgical progression of thick skinned patients 1-6 months post op
I did my rhinoplasty on 22nd March 2024 and a month is over. I too have thick skin. When my cast was off it was very fat. Over a month swelling healed and surgeon said after a month i am only seeing 10% of my results due to thick skin and swelling. He said it will improve over the course of time but i already feel quite confident after a month, 6 months transition would be great to see. For everyone relax if the surgeon did a great job it will be visible as time passes.
Thank you for sharing this video Doctor, I had a nose job 5 weeks ago and I was told I have very thick skin, my concern is to see how bulky the tip of nose looks. I understand better now, thank you for showing images 6 months post-op
Hey how is it after 1 year ? I have hit about 40 days mark post op and I do noticed my nose tip bulky too 😢 the surgeon kept saying it will shrink but I wanna hear actual testimony
I’m recently healing from rhinoplasty right now and I want to cry because it looks like the same thick bulbous tip nose…. I guess I have to wait 6 months to actually see where a lot of this money got me :/
hey girl same, how’s it going 2 months out? just got my cast off yesterday and omg bruh it looks so wide still like my front looks like a potato it better go down..
No, this has never happened to any of my patients. The recovery is not necessarily painful, but rather a bit uncomfortable since you will need to breathe through the mouth for the first week. Swelling and bruising varies per patient.
Hey doctor I would like to know when do you recommend to have a cortison shot after surgery? Due to my thick skin I have the same issue as the lady in the video…. When did she got her cortison shot ?
Why is thicker skin so difficult I had mine done 2 weeks ago and my nose tip is sooo high and swollen . I know i still have a lot of swelling but my biggest concern is how much will go down 😪
Oh thanks god its not gonna stay like that, i was just wondering if the operation was worth it or not and now im quite contented with the results. just gotta wait another 1 month
it’s day 3 after my cast removal my nose is tapped but it feels very stiff like it’s a stone and feels like it’s not on my face how long does it take and do i have to still sleep elevated??? can i wear makeup??
Hello I got my septorhinoplasty done June01/2022 so it's been a little over 6mths I have thick skin my procedure was done by my Ent doc in Evans Ga I was definitely scared bc most ppl of color have been going overseas bc they have more experience in ethnic procedures but I was scared to leave Usa bc if I gotten sick I could have family to take care of me I received those shots on 2 visits I would like more bc it takes forever to see results I asked him for the shape of Felicia Rashod nose which is similar to my moms nose I don't think I'm going to get what I asked for the first 2mths I looked like I got a azz job on my nose it was massive He broke my nose took cartlidge out of my ear and put it in my nose to help built it up I had a deviated septum However my nose does look better and I breathe better But the shape of your nose is going to look like your orginal nose for a while but I see the definition in the middle of my nose He didn't reduce my nostrils size which that pissed me off bc I have real physical jobs and I don't have time to take off He said I could come bk and get that done I didn't want to have to come bk when I paid for the whole procedure to get done at once It's true about the mental part it's going to be times when your not going to like how your nose looks but afterwhile when recommended by your doc I wear shades on those days I feel ugly Everybody take care and be safe 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛😘😘😘😘
Does swelling ever happen more on one side of the septum? Mine still looks deviated on one side, sorta crooked. But I can't tell if it's swelling or whether it needs a correction.
Probably swelling, my nostrils look uneven one morning and the next day are evenly swollen - check with doctor and they can tell you if it’s swelling. But your nose will look different every day / week for a while until fully healed.
How long after did she get the steroid injection? Im 4 months post op of a tip rhinoplasty and just got steroid injections today. Her nose looks great being 6 months post.
I’m 3 months post op but my nose looks bulbous and to short , I never had a bulbous short nose from the beginning :( . My original nose was longer and so much thinner , I just wanted to correct the hump and slightly reduce my droopy tip . I don’t know if theirs is any hope that my nose will be thinner and less bulbous . Also, my nostrils look so visible as well ( they don’t face the floor )
@@AnushkaSai-ub9hw My nose has dropped a lot and has gotten thinner but their are days where it gets a little bit swollen . How’s yours now ? Also, the nostrils shrunk but not as much as I wanted it
@@Letgoodthingshappeninmylifenow I Spoke to my surgeon and he said it might take up to two years because I have thick skin. The nostrils shrunk a bit and my nose dropped but still not as much as I wanted them
@@najat2486 I'm in 6 months, the lower 2/3 part looks much wider than my previous nose, sometimes the swelling goes down a little, then it looks better. The tip of my nose moves left and right, but it doesn't move down, so my upper lip doesn't move as it used to when talking, I'm extremely unhappy in general.
Great video, is cortisone injection always recommended for thicker skin or will swelling eventually resolve on its own with time? I'll appreciate your feedback
I have the same question, I recently underwent rhinoplasty and the swelling hasn’t gone down, and fluctuates every day. I have thick skinned nose, is cortisone always recommended?
@@Kitty_Queen2117 i honestly dont think so.. i think it is only recommended if you have abnormal growth of scar tissue or for very impatient patients. but those shots also have risks. so yeah. swelling should be completly gone after 1 1/2 to 2 years for thick skin noses. it would be good for you to consult with your doctor about that because every doctors views those shots differently. some are against some like to do them every month. it like with taping some doctors recommend taping for 1 year some say it has no effect you know :3
@@Kitty_Queen2117 btw i did my nose in turkiye and i have thick skin as well I was advised to tape and wear a retainer. also my doctor gave me a steroid shot in my bum but idk if it was kenalog lol and it helped. i have my online consulation soon and will ask him if he recommends doing kenalog shots but if i remember correctly he advised highly against it because he said it is better that the nose heals itself naturally. sry for my english i hope it is understandable xD
Anyone watching this experiencing the same unsatisfied look 1 to 3 months post op ? I’m at about 40 days post operation on my nose. Noticed that right after removing the cast it looks much more smaller and prominent vs now hitting this post one month mark the tip look bigger and bridge looks wider 🥲
I’m about 40 days too, and my nose looks wider than before the surgery, I’ve seen so many videos of girls with cute post op noses on TikTok, it makes me sad. Hope our noses get better. How’s your nose now?

Should all patients with thick skin get steroid shots?
It varies on the patients healing process. It is helpful for patients who experience more swelling.
