I got my first airplane ride in a cheetah. 50 years later, and a career as a pilot and mechanic, I’ve never had the opportunity to even see one again. Your videos reminded me of how much I loved that first flight and what a great airplane it is. My wife and I are now shopping for a tiger/cheetah of our own. There’s not many here in Canada but we’ll find one eventually and I can get reacquainted with the airplane that started it all. Thanks for sharing your work.

I have my PPL license since 1969 but flying only Cessnas got me dam bored by 1972. In 1974, i saw new school with Grummans in Miami. Wow, what a beauty. i have to fly those now. Never went back to rent Cessnas again. Best fixed gear single until Cirrus came by. But i still like those Tigers instead.

Very nice video. Just about ready to remove the wings on my Cheetah. Could you address two points in more detail? (1) design of the wing cradles and (2) if the wings are removed for painting how should they be handled and supported during spraying? Thanks

Cradles were slings made of carpeting hung between frames as shown in one of the videos. Best way for painting the wings is to find a pipe that fits into the spar (5.5 or so diameter in inches) so you can rotate it as needed

Any tricks for reinstalling the attach bolts? Pretty sure the wings are lined up perfectly, but I can only finger-turn the attach bolts a few turns in. Is it okay to crank away and let the shoulders do the locating? I don't want to do any damage to the spar nuts or the $130 bolts 😬

That is fine just take you time and the shoulder bolt will align, do one then the other is easier. Torque and strip as well.

@@GrummanPilots Thanks, Roscoe that's what I figured. I didn't think about the torque stripe also but that's a great idea

I wish we could see how the spar tube and wing tubes are actually connected.

They slide over each other a tube inside a tube and two shoulder boulder 180 degrees apart secure them.
